  1. Darcy on the reality of moving up:

"Price is, and I spoke to teams as of yesterday, i can't get into which team it was. Team number 1,2, and 3 there resolve seems to have grown... as you move away from the top to teams 5 or 6 there becomes a possibility they can move a pick... if one of the players they want is available they won't trade the pick."

"Is there anything you would take from us (for that pick), and teams said no, no we'll make the pick"

"The teams that are in line in front of us are telling me they want centermen"

  2. Agreed. So much that I haven't lived within 3 hours of my credit union for 11 years but still use it as my bank.

I still have my Credit Union in NY. I do have one down here as well but they are super nice and extremely accommodating.

  3. M&T Bank...F*** you! My ATM card cracked right through the magnetic strip two days ago, I am heading out of town on Sunday for 9 days, and asked if they could mail me a new card within a couple of days. They said sure we can...for $25! I had to have a temper tantrum with 3 different reps(escalated), and threaten to pull all my business out of M&T before they agreed to waive the charge.

They couldn't just agree to do it due to the extenuating circumstances, and instead, I had to yell and scream in order for them to agree to waive the charge?

A$$holes are paying little interest on savings accounts, but charging major interest on loans and credit cards, and still want to stick it up my a$$ over a replacement ATM card that would have to be shipped "2 day"?

I may still pull my business away from them when I get back from my trip.

Thats why I love my Credit Union.

  4. I'm not getting raise. the girl was interviewed for a legit job by, I ###### you not, a drunk woman. one of my good friends found out his wife has been texting naughty things, my other buddy had a backslide and is now all screwed up... he had just gotten over her too.

all an all it has been a really up and down week of stupidity.

  5. Define "in on."

I'm really curious about how any of us would handle things if we were in Terry's shoes. I am going to guess that the majority of the frequent posters here would choose a different course. Ask yourself that question, X. Would you really dictate to Darcy that non-hockey people contribute to his decisions?

Honestly I would inquire about guys or say I wanted types of players but leave personnel decisions up to my Gm who I would assume knows more.

I think I need to bow out of this. I think Terry has meddled but like I said to 3rd degree. I think he allows darcy a lot of free room.

  6. Your honour.

If it pleases the court I would like to address the proceedings.

While I am not a member of the prosecution *dream team* I am a forensic accountant.

If I may, I would like to present two exhibits for your honour's consideration:

    Exibit A: Regehr, Robyn.

    Exibit B: Ehrhoff, Christian.

Your honor I would like to point out that both of those signings coincided with Pegula's first summer of ownership. Exhibit A was most definitely influenced by Pegula. Exhibit B may have been. However since that time can the prosecution demonstrate a continuing trend of interference as opposed to a new owner being excited and trying to do to much. It would appear to me that Terry Pegula has calmed his enthusiasm to assume a more backseat role since the summer of 2011.

  7. You're saying he's committed Meddling in the Third or possibly Fourth Degree.

3rd degree would be my guess

Darcy has said Myers' contract was a problem because it assumes a player that young will behave responsibly after getting it. So, why did Myers end up with said contract? Does Darcy time-travel, arguing with himself, or is there a more logical explanation?

Or Darcy signed him to that deal because Darcy is still suffering from PTSD over the loss of players like Drury, Briere, Campbell because he didn't sign them early and long term. He thought Myers was going to be good and could handle it. Since this is a "court" do you have proof that Terry Pegula effectively told Darcy he had to sign Tyler Myers to a long term high money deal? If not you are spitting conjecture with no supporting evidence.

  8. I agree that Pegula is in the room and has a core set of "standards" shall we say that he wants players held accountable for. He does however seem to allow Darcy the final decision. I'd like to argue we do not know if Pegula can or does force Darcy to make hockey decisions. It sounds as though Darcy has the right to and does say things like "player X is nice but he doesn't fit our team" OR "Player X is going to cost us this and as GM I think that is to much to pay (in terms of prospects, picks, or players"

  9. I'd like to submit to this... court that Terry Pegula says that he talks to darcy but he did make it sound as though he was talking about player types more than actual guys. The hard work thing is something that I have heard Black, Pegula and Regier all mention. I don't think Terry is making decisions and that he is instead pushing for a direction, he is plotting a course but Regier is the captain. They have had multiple conversations it would seem about hard work. They even said that Myers needs to work harder (which of course he does) but the fact they are saying these things is a good sign. Bottom Line: Pegula is not saying "Darcy I want player X, go." It appears as if he is saying "we need talented hard workers, go" which is completely different.

  10. Can you name any player who put up a .5 GPG season and wound up with a lesser contract? Would it have been better if Stafford made $3 mil/yr? Is Darcy's worthiness really hanging on $1mil?

Actually, this thread isn't about Darcy. It's just another 'Darcy sucks' hijack just like every other thread turns out to be which is really becoming monotonous. That really annoys me so I'm going to excuse myself before I become any more hypocritical.

Let's just say, we're all 'professionals' when there is nothing on the line and we judge our opinions and decisions two years after the fact when it becomes so much easier to look correct. Just once I'd like to see somebody bring up their suggestions from years past that were way off base.

1mil plus 1mil to much for leino, 1.2mil to much for Myers etc... it adds up when you constantly overpay. I didn't turn this into a Darcy sucks thread. I am content with him as GM even if I think he hasn't done a great job. His last 18 months have shown he is not inept and whether or not we get a cup out of that who knows.

  11. And I suppose this whole board would have supported Darcy letting Stafford walk after scoring 31 goals in 62 games.

He was an RFA so he wouldn't have walked very far.

I read through that thread and I was against paying Drew a ton of money and voiced I hoped his new work ethic was going to be the norm but it wasn't. Drew regressed back to the mean. Hell I was even optimistic about that team being good. Now I am older and wiser. Drew's contract was a bust thus far. That was the original point and if he made 3mil instead of 4 he would be less of a headache.

  12. But what has he (Darcy) done wrong?

Didn't sign Briere or Drury then let them walk for nothing. Ignored drafting a center or acquiring a center until literally the last year. Falsely believed Derek Roy, Jason Pominville, Drew Stafford, Thomas Vanek, Ryan Miller, and Jochen Hecht could win a cup as a team. Signed Tyler Myers to a contract worth double the way he has played which is a hold over from him losing other players in UFA. Signed stafford based off of 1 decent season to more money than he is worth. Has failed to effectively build a team but instead keeps bring in supporting players without a legitimate core in place.

  13. Talent with work ethic should be the formula. Aye?

Yup... which is why I like Hodgson and why I like Monahan and also I have heard that Lindholm works hard as well. I don't want Erne because his effort is questioned. I am sick of guys who are lazy and talented.

Terry mentions Girgensons and Larsson as guys who work hard. Specifically says no one works harder than Zemgus and he won't let anyone outwork him.

"Ron didn't give us much choice last year after he came in" on the coach search.

"Ron is a teacher, there is going to be more young players coming in. You are going to have your veteran leadership and then these young hard workers coming in."
