  1. There's a chance an offseason of training gets him back. Issue is, there's pressure from all over now. He'll have to work hard.
  2. Unlike Adams and really most ppl, I don't form 1 opinion and never change it even when evidence suggests otherwise. I'm on record in a few places of saying I'd give Quinn 15 games to figure it out but for this exercise, it made sense to move on.
  3. Which is why you don't sell. They start buying as you describe and the price will shoot back up, as long as you didn't exit the market, you just get all that back.
  4. The media post trade was laughable in their descriptions of Cozens. Without looking them up I think I saw talks of how he's a 60+ pt player, talk of him as a 1st line Center, LOTS of talk about him being a physical 2-way center. It was as though no one had watched him and just skimmed some old draft reports on him or something.
  5. Winning matters but them winning now as opposed to winning in November doesn't matter IMPO. They still missed the playoffs and we have watched the heroic run to whatever place 5 or 6 years now and IT NEVER carries over. If they are good next year it won't be because they won some games at the end of the season, it might be because they learned how to win, but winning now versus November is whatever. At least in my opinion.
  6. How bad is UPL? Well in his 3 years as an NHL goalie he only has 1 season above .900 and that was last years .910 the other two seasons are .891 and currently running at .885 this year. His goals saved above average is -22.2 thus dar. He only has 25 quality starts in 53 starts. His GAA is actually lower than what it was when he had the 891sv% going from 3.61 down to 3.23 this season. So the moral is he lets in more goals on average, while being pretty awful at consistency. His even strength sv% is down from 2 years ago (I use 2 years to show his other bad year as a comparison) and his ppsv% is down and his short handed sv% is down. He's been one of the leagues worst goalies in 2 of the 3 years where he's been a bonafide NHL goaltender but I am supposed to believe that the .910sv% he posted last year is the truth when ever other year and all the other starts say that the 0.887sv% is his average. I mean what are we doing? Adams blundered again. He couldn't get Ullmark signed and he panicked the 2nd UPL played a good 25 games, signed him to a bad deal at 5yrs and now UPL is back to being the backup level goalie he's basically always been. Sure maybe he figures it out, but Adams can't keep being the guy who lets his players eventually maybe figure it out at some point. For comparison, Ullmark is basically always at 0.917%. 0.915, 0.917, 0.917, 0.938, 0.915, 0.911. Compared to 0.899, 0.910, 0.885. UPL just isn't good enough.
  7. One of these things is not like the other...
  8. No, I said he had 3rd line production. I am more interested in seeing Östlund on the 3rd line than Krebs because I want to know if Östlund can be more than Krebs. Again, Krebs proved he can produce at a 3rd line rate and he got a lot better defensively, but I know what he will bring and the season is toast, so why not see how far away Östlund is? I think Östlund has earned a look with more talented linemates. Actually I said "He's a solid 3rd line type of player" so I should quote myself correctly.
  9. I think putting Östlund on the 4th line is a waste. He would be perfectly fine on the 3rd and would actually have a chance to get points.
  10. I think he's better than Byram but is stuck on a very mediocre Islanders team. He's also a 6'4" RHD compared to a 6'1" LHD.
  11. I think one of the issues we have as a fanbase is that we have constantly been feed a steady diet of 19-23yr old players. The production takes a little bit of time, which is what Ottawa is banking on with Cozens, and the overall ability to be consistent takes time. Krebs is a good example and a player I was guilty of dismissing. He's a solid 3rd line type of player and hopefully will maintain or get better at that. I don't think it is reasonable to be disappointed in Benson's production because he's 19 and if this was his rookie yr, no one would be blinking at his production. The disappointment comes from expectations not being met. Benson is a curious case because of his age and the way he plays hockey. No one wants to hear it anymore but we will have to be patient with Benson until he is 23or so and really hits his stride.
  12. No, it is. Some guys who are average though get better with time, that is harder to see. There's a lot of draftees that you can tell see the game better than others, Benson, Reinhart, and guys like that.
  13. It doesn't matter to me when they win or lose, just that the lost too much to make the playoffs. If that happened in November or March, IMPO it doesn't matter. Adams needs to aggressively fix defense and goaltending. He won't do either.
  14. Remember that time Terry Pegula, "self made" Billionaire, got 850million from the State/County for his new football stadium? Pepperidge Farms remembers.
  15. Coaching: Fire everyone not named Lindy Ruff and let him bring in a brand new staff. I feel as though Ruff has enough connections around the league to find good ppl which should be his mandate. I would specifically not let Ruff or anyone in Buffalo touch the pp because they suck at it. GM: I would fire Kevyn Adams, Jerry Forton, and a couple of other front office types. There's just too many hold overs and we need new ideas around here. I will keep this short because for most of us, it starts and ends with Adams and Pegula. Goalies: Beg, borrow, or steal, UPL would never play for this team again. I would be willing to retain 2million on his deal and to ship him out for a 4th round pick if it just got him off this team. Seems like a great guy but in 2 of the last 3 years he has been AWFUL. Others can blame the defense or the forwards or whatever they want, but the truth is UPL is a bad goaltender and I am sick of watching the same movie over and over. Buh bye. Levi gets a shot at making Buffalo but also trade or sign for a legit veteran #1 goalie. Not sure who without more research but you would easily have the ammo trade wise to do it. Defense: Samuelsson and Byram need trade partners. I would attempt to get Dobson out of the Islanders, Samuelsson I think I can package for forward. So for poops and potatoes... Byram and our 2025 2nd round pick for Dobson and a 2025 3rd. Samuelsson to Chicago for a 2025 3rd no retention. To recap, Dobson and 2 3rd round picks in, Samuelsson, a 2nd, and Byram out. Dobson gets 7yrs x 9mil I extend Benard-Docker for 2yrs x 1.25million. I sign Vladislav Gavrikov to a 4yr, 5.25mil dollar contract. Defense is now: Gavrikov - Dahlin Power - Dobson Docker - Clifton trade for a guy using some of the assets acquired, unsure of who but there's always a guy waive - Bryson Forwards: Re-sign McLeod 5yrs, 5mil. Re-sign JJ Peterka 6yrs x6.75mil. I am trading Quinn either in the goalie deal or to bring in a forward, lets say the goalie deal to make this easier. Forward is now: Benson - Kulich/Norris - Thompson Peterka - McLeod - Tuch Zucker - Norris/Kulich - trade/rookie (this is listed 3rd but would move up or down in TOI accordingly) Greenway - Krebs - Malestyn extra Lafferty I think my math works. I roughed out the numbers to just around 89million without adding in that goalie we are trading for. This includes Noah Östlund's 886k which I left in to represent a potential callup. My math says we had 36million in forwards and 28million in defense. So I added in another 20 million which is the difference from sending Muel and UPL out and adding Gavrikov, McLeod, JJP, and Dobson which added back in 20mil. If I messed up the math, I apologize.
  16. Cozens issues extend across multiple coaches. It seems once he was asked to do more than just blow the zone and score points, his game didn't adapt. I'm very curious to see him in the playoffs.
