https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6368342/2025/07/07/2026-nhl-mock-draft-gavin-mckenna/ I think I would lean Šimon Katolický, a Czech who plays in the Liiga system. He's got a late July bday and is a 6'4" 198lb winger who should get a bunch of playing time in the u20 Liiga system this year as a 17yr old. This draft has a bunch of big rangy wingers in it.

My theory is that Terry was cash poor at the time and that has continued with the stadium costs. The result is that he has worried less about the Sabres because he doesn't have (in relative terms, I am sure he has 10million but if he can save it, that helps) the liquid assets to deal with the 10million a year or so he loses there. He keeps that as low as possible so it isn't 15million a year or more and that way he has just a smidge more liquid to pay for his yacht maintenance and the stadium.

Yea... sure he could. "According to AFP Analytics’ offseason contract projections, Byram is worth roughly $5.2 million on a one-year contract. That’s a useful starting point for estimating his award." https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6477038/2025/07/06/bowen-byram-sabres-salary-arbitration/ A couple days in UFA is what? 85% of all unrestricted free agents gone.

+/- captures even strength goals for and against 0 would be 50% gf/ga and so positive is above and negative below. -

I added him... he's bad. They would be better off dumping him and keeping Docker or probably even bringing up Ryan Johnson Bryson and Samuelsson aren't playing above replacement level. Both of them need to be replaced and we can only hope that Novikov, Johnson, and Komarov develop quicker because Adams won't be rid of his favorites and bring in better players. -

JBD: 144 games, 24pts, -1, 241 blocks, 122 hits, -5.9relcf%, -7.6xgf and he just turned 25 Timmins: 159 games, 46pts, +21, 167 blocks, 137 hits, 2.2relcf%, +16.5xgf and he will be 27 when the season starts Power: 242 games, 111pts, +8, 319 blocks, 99 hits, 0.5relcf%, -21.4xgf and is 22 turning 23 in November Kesselring: 156 games, 53pts, +14, 133 blocks, 205 hits, 3.6relcf%, +8.4xgf and is 25 They're certainly looking at xgf% and relative cf% when making decisions. Looking at this, I think they believe timmins has more upside than JBD did. Hard to say but none of these guys have deep NHL resumes. Outside of Power, they've basically played 2 seasons worth of games. Will be curious to see Timmins salary. And for fun... Byram: 246 games, 110pts, +26, 313 blocks, 337 hits, -1.7relcf%, -5.9xgf and just turned 24 Bryson: 254 games, 43pts, -38, 276 blocks, 153 hits, -4.7relcf%, -31.6xgf and will be 28 in November Samuelsson: 212 games, 43pts, +3, 341 blocks, 438 hits, -10.8relcf%, -26xgf and he's 25 Rasmus Dahlin: 509 games, 360pts, -58, 637 blocks, 771 hits, +11.4relcf%, +17.9xgf and is 25 -
The offseason so far - Are the Sabres better?

You think he'll be Dahlin's partner? I suppose that's possible for Kesselring but I thought he'd go with Power and Samuelsson would go with Dahlin. Timmins is there if Samuelsson fails and Byram gets traded. Guess that leaves Ryan Johnson to make the roster. We feel 1 nhl D short. -

So just so we're clear Adams didn't sign JBD because Arbitration but traded a 2nd to get Timmins who filed for Arbitration. And I'm suppose to believe the difference between Jbd and Timmins is so large, this is some strategy? -

LMFAO. -
Maybe but idc much about his dad, I care about his maturity and the fact his underlying metrics suggest there's more there. While Peterka was out here shooting at a % that's all but guaranteed to be unsustainable, Doan was quite unlucky in the same regard. That's not saying Doan will match Peterka but if jjp is actually a 25g scorer and Doan is actually a 15g scorer, we might be okay. All that said, Adams hope strategy is terrible and this is an 85pt team.

Is he? Andersson was awful last year. He's got rumors out there he'll only sign in Vegas. Trading Byram for 1yr of Andersson and some futures piece isn't good business. I think Byram with Dahlin is better than Andersson with Dahlin.
