I think it would be useful to separate "ALL HOPES RESTING ON.." and "THE REASON FOR THE TANK IS..." All hopes are not resting on getting McEichel. The team will improve, likely to a much better team than we've had in the better part of a decade, simply with the teardown and resulting multitude of picks. The "TANK", the effort put into not signing good FAs and not trading our picks for NHL players, the reason we did that is McEichel. McEichel is the reason we traded for picks and held those picks, he is not our Obi-Wan.

Everyone's perspective is totally screwed up because of the Mercator Projection maps. I had an idea for an invention that would make millions: a map on a spherical surface that maintained the true shapes and distances.

What is the equivalent low to a Stanley Cup high?

I don't want to build up what it will be like to wake up the next week (the celebration will last at least that long) after the Sabres win the Cup too much. I imagine the only comparable low would be to slowly watch each member of your family die very very painful deaths while you hold, in your hands, the ability to help them, but can't move or speak. As each one suffers, eventually passing into the darkness, they look you in the eyes and painfully beg. Winning the cup will be almost the exact inverse of that hypothetical experience. -
