  1. Maybe his Marfans will flare back up long enough to ensure that we finish at the bottom because I don't want to trade him. We have enough scientific lab geek types that work here that they should be able to find a cure. Chop chop, people, just don't announce you've found the cure until after the season is over.
  2. Definitely. I think everyone feels that way. I just disagree with the people who seem to think that if we draft Hanifin at #3 that we automatically have to trade Myers away for a forward. I think we could and should keep Myers even if we draft Hanifin (again unless some team is willing to overpay). Between Reinhart, Girgensons, Ennis, Moulson, Grigorenko, Armia, Lemieux, Compher, Hurley, Bailey, our other 2015 picks, and what can come from trades and free agency we should be able to put together a respectable to top 6 next year and a pretty good top 6 in the next 2-3 years even if we miss out on McEichel, draft Hanifin, and keep Myers.
  3. It may not be unanimous but Hanifin has pretty much been the consensus at #3 for every mock draft that I've looked at from the beginning of the season to this day. We definitely need top line forwards but if we end up SOL and drafting in the 3rd spot I definitely take Hanifin unless whoever is sitting at #4 is willing to give us a highly attractive offer to move down a spot. Taking Hanifin wouldn't even compel me to move Myers unless someone is willing to overpay. I'd still rather have one of the top 2 guys of course but taking Hanifin at #3 would give us the best young defensive corps in the league outside of maybe Nashville. We can try to package our other 2 firsts to move up into the top 10 or 15 (depending on where the Islanders and Blues picks land) plus we still have existing players, prospects, and FA's along with a metric ###### ton of cap space to land another guy.
  4. I want an offensive minded head coach who will keep Schwartz and the defensive staff intact. I'd also rather not have the OC for Manning or Brady because the FNG's quarterback will not be anywhere near that good.
  5. It doesn't matter if all we are moving are pending UFA's. I want Murray to trade off every pending UFA he doesn't plan on extending before the deadline and would like it even better if he pulled a Moulson with a couple of guys he wants to keep and trades them off and brings them back in the summer. Even if all he can muster is a bunch of mid round picks they can either be used or spent trading up.
  6. I may be wrong but I don't think you can offer option contracts in the NHL. Also, Stafford has been a disappointment at his current cap hit of $4 million so I would definitely not want to offer him a raise to $5 million per year. In a choice between Stafford and Stewart I'd prefer to keep Stewart who is just as inconsistent (maybe even more so) but at least brings a more physical aspect to his game and has shown to be willing to throw down more often than Stafford.
  7. Well, they did follow the patented Darcy blue print of starting the season with one legitimate top 9 center and pinning their hopes on a highly touted teenager to fill in as another one. He should be demanding royalties or something.
  8. Maybe it's just willful ignorance on my part but I actually think Roy could help Edmonton. They are painfully in need of centers and Roy is a center who is defensively responsible. I know he hasn't produced offensively in a few years but maybe he can put up some kind of production playing with more skilled Edmonton forwards. Or maybe I'm just hoping so but it's definitely worth a shot on their part.
  9. Not necessarily. All you really need are teams that would like to upgrade their backup goalie situations. Neither of them has a large cap hit and we don't have to ask for the moon for either of them. There are a lot of questionable backup goalies in the league and we should know because we've been beating them. A solid insurance policy who can hold down the fort down the stretch to give their starter some rest before the playoffs without hampering their playoff seeding should definitely be worth a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
  10. We need to trade both Enroth and Neuvirth with the understanding that one of them will pull a Moulson and resign with us during free agency. If we do that and have to pull up 2 of our goalie prospects (the worst ones statistically like Hackett and Knapp) along with selling off our other pending UFA's it may be enough to push us towards the bottom, although it may still not be enough to catch Edmonton. That would still give us a 33.5% chance of landing one of the big 2 hoping us or Edmonton win the lottery so nobody else can jump ahead of us with Hanifan as a consolation prize.
  11. Then you sir, are a scholar and a gentleman, as well as a great American. Well done.
  12. The 2nd Hasek is the greatest and anyone who believes differently is a pinko communist evil doer who should be drug out into the street and shot.
  13. I'm fully confident that had we beat Oakland last week that we would have lost today.
  14. It guarantees Hanifan and the best young group of defenders in the league plus a small chance at McDavid. I'm sure everyone would rather finish 3rd than 9th.
  15. I think he's just talking about the impact that a stud defensive prospect could make immediately since Eckblad has proven to be able to contibute right away and Hanifan has been rated better than Eckblad by many people. Most teams drafting near the top tend to draft forwards with all else being equal because defensive players tend to take longer to develop but once McDavid and Eichel are off the board Hanifin is pretty much the consensus #3 and with the success of Eckblad teams who need defense now would be more willing to offer assets to try to move up and get him. I don't think his point has anything to do with Reinhart or drafting 1 or 2 since it's almost a guarantee at this point that McEichel go 1 and 2.
  16. I understand your point of view completely but I believe RJ is responsible for more Sabres fans than any single player. To me, he is no less a Sabre than any player and using your logic he should have been voted out before guys like Ville Leino and Rory Fitzpatrick solely because he never laced up skates to take the ice for the team. I was too young to appreciate Perreault but fans of every age can appreciate RJ and the man came back after battling cancer to call games for what was still the worst team in the league at the time he came back.
  17. If you have to lobby for extra time it's not looking good for your guy. Consider it karma for your lobbying against RJ so much. I know that's why I voted against Perreault. Hasek is still a butt ###### quitter but he was better at his position than Perreault was at his on the all time greatest scale. Best of luck to you though, good sir.
  18. Looks like Hasek has this thing won. Still should've been RJ. Everyone who has watched the Sabres during any era should have fond memories of him.
  19. Who cares? It's the all star game. It doesn't count for anything and the league allows the fans to vote for a reason (because they want their involvement). There's nothing wrong with the process. The fans voting are the ones who will tune in to watch in all likelihood. I don't vote every day but when I do I vote for all Sabres the full 10 times I'm allowed. It only takes 30 seconds because you can pull up the last ballot you submitted and resubmit it until you hit your limit. Personally I vote for Kaleta every time as well because he's so hated around the league that I'd find it hilarious to see him out there and chirping the other all stars but he's not from Latvia so I don't think he has a chance in hell. Without Zemgus or any other Sabres in the game I'd have zero interest in watching.
  20. No, that's Jeanneret to many of us. Then again Perreault retired when I was 6 years old.
  21. He's a masshole but besides that I agree.
  22. Isn't it about time to move this along to a vote for the final 2 yet? I'm not sure if it has generally been set intervals between rounds but this last one seems to have taken longer than most. Instead of abstaining from voting I think I'm gonna cast my final vote for Perreault because I think more of the people rooting for him to win were the ones who voted out Jeanneret so to exact a tiny bit of revenge and gain a little bit of self satisfaction I'm going to vote to keep the butt ###### quitter who chose Detroit over us instead of our first ever pick. On a side note, was Taro Tsujimoto ever an option in this poll? I don't think he was but can't remember for sure. If not, it would've been cool to see his name on the list just to see if he would've made the top 10.
  23. Lemieux has more goals but fewer assists and points, but he's also not playing in the QMJHL plus he has the bit of edge and nasty to his game that his Dad had so at this point I'm happy with the choice even though I wanted Barbashev at the time as well.
  24. Yep, just like the year we drafted Whitner when 90+% of fans were hoping for Haloti Ngata and we passed on him. I think the fans are more clued in than the media would ever give us credit for. At least for the first couple of rounds in the draft.
  25. I'm glad you liked that. I remember seeing a show on the history channel about what Jesus really looked like and them saying that one of those guys used his son as the model for Jesus and it just kind of stuck. But being a child of the 80's that's how I remember those famous old Italian painters.
