  1. I saw somewhere on the twitterverse that Mule’s return to the ice coincides perfectly with a surge in UPLs performance in net. Hmmmm….
  2. Ok it took 7 years AND TWO MORE HOFers. That wasnt a tank success story.
  3. Do they win them without Jagr? Without Recchi? If the answer is no then I say it wasn't the tank that produced those cups. And this is the single, best example of a tank working. Hell, it might be the only example. Nearly a decade and 2 more HOFers were needed to be added before it "worked". It's a faulty plan.
  4. There is no option to manage the roster re: Anderson. The premise is, if you know he's going into his last season and you can't get him to re-sign, you move him while he has the value of a full season. Anderson is on a 1 yr deal and is an obvious 1 season stopgap. Not the same scenario at all. Example: Moving Reinhart while he has the value of a full season, or Risto with term, is managing the roster. Moving any one of the pre-tank core for picks the deadline before they become FA's is failing to manage your roster. We all knew they weren't going to be re-signed. Trade them with a full season of value and get a much better return.
  5. Holy *****. Matty Mo was a 9th rd pick? Never knew. Helluva career for a long shot.
  6. For Mario. And it took a decade, Jagr, and Recchi for it to bear fruit. Is it really a success when it takes that long AND required the drafting of two more HOF players?
  7. Neither of which tanked in the last 20 years. Remember when the fanbase here was talking ourselves into believing that Jack was the better leader and would have more success than McD? Hooboy was that a good time.
  8. I’ve posted in these pages many times that if you let a player get to deadline day and then move him for lottery tickets you’ve failed to manage the roster. I think the idea was losing valuable players with no return was a mistake repeated with Ullmark. Go on…..
  9. That misconduct was after he laid a monstrous hit on an opponent. Behind the net if my memory hasn’t failed. That hit was probably unpenalized in CHL, but it was a misconduct in international play. Or was it an open ice hit? Maybe my memory has failed.
  10. Noone said there is no scamming. There has always been scamming. Show me the data it is worse now and you will readily convince me.
  11. Is back in the day 5 years ago? 5 years ago the facility that employed me closed. I went through the whole process but found a job that started the day after out facility closed, so I never needed to file a claim. But even then I was told by NY Labor Dept I would need to provide a list online weekly. There wouldn’t be a need for me to be there in person. But again, I never had to follow through because I never was actually unemployed. I really think, absent of data, you are assuming the worst with no data.
  12. And all of this too. Its easier to blame the slackers though.
  13. You tell me whether that has changed. You are the one with the belief.
  14. NHLPA BS too. I’ll never understand why the players union isn’t all over real player safety issues.
  15. NY website still lists a requirement that you mist be actively looking for work to qualify for benefits. Fortunately for me I have never had to go through the process to know how diligently that was assessed in the past or any knowledge of whether it has changed. The language the state is using indicates it is still a requirement though.
  16. Maybe paramedics should stand up for themselves like Timmy’s workers did.
  17. Retirements result in lower workers moving up the chain, resulting in lower positions opening, combined with a monstrous demand for products actually increasing the market for labor. There is actual data supporting both of those. I need to see data showing people being paid to stay home before assuming that is what is driving it.
  18. Is there even anecdotal data that you are basing this on? I haven’t looked, but I haven’t stumbled on anything either suggesting that the issue is still people getting paid to stay home. It feels like old man yelling at clouds without any data to back it up.
  19. I know half a dozen people in their 50s that retired in the last year. I don’t know any young people sitting home. Don’t assume its all slackers on the govt dole.
  20. I suspect the behavior was in the office as well. I won’t speak for what works among athletes (although I suspect it doesn’t work well there either) but I can confidently say that emotional outbursts are not effective in office environments. And there is something more. The announcement indicated he will be in an alcohol treatment program.
  21. I’ll go further. Yelling goes against every leadership training tenet I have ever been exposed to. If he is yelling, he’s lost the room. If he is yelling he is denying open, honest communication among his team. If he is yelling, he’s resorted to emotion over logic. If his team needs him to yell for motivation he’s chosen his team poorly. Motivated people don’t require emotional outbursts to perform. Strong personalities won’t abide a leader prone to emotional outbursts. The team that stays will be weak personalities, and weak personalities make for weak teams. He’s sabotaging his own team. So really, yelling is a strong indicator that he is a poor leader that is holding back his team. He needed to go.
  22. Good leaders are not verbally abusive. Firing someone, a leader especially, for being verbally abusive is 100% justifiable.
  23. I like the cut of your jib.
  24. JFC Noone ever lost their love for the game (fans included) because they were battling for the last playoff spot. This ***** has been absolutely devastating to the fanbase of this team. Hell, NHL viewership as a whole is sunk in this market.
  25. Dahlin played well with Scandella as well. I’m at the point where I think Scandella was the reason and not Ras or Joki.
