Unsure, better than last year with Karlsson > Petry but everyone is a year older as well.

Sharks trade Karlsson to Penguins in 3 team trade with Montreal
thewookie1 replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
It's certainly annoying that Pittsburgh just won't go away already and the East keeps getting better While mostly true; their issue isn't just long term assets/prospects. It's the fact most of their team is 30+ This season: Forwards Crosby 35, Malkin 37, Rust 31, Rakell 30, Smith 32, Carter 38, Eller 34, Acciari 31, Nieto 30 Defense Karlsson 33, Letang 36, Ruhwedel 33 That is 9/12 Forwards and 3/7 Defense Also Guenzel is trapped behind the LTIR wall -
I might slightly rephrase it as there being no significant “hockey” success. Since I’d definitely say the team and franchise cultural overhaul has been a success.

I’d give the players personal songs in the season then have 1 song for the playoffs

Hot takes gone cold? Revisit your Sabres agita

He's a 1C level player who plays 2C Reinhart has the talent to be a 1RW but plays 2/3RW -

🙄 Well he played 3RW in Florida in 21-22 with their rookie center and Duclair. And played 2RW with Florida this past year most of the year. He certainly has at least 2RW stats but in Florida he hadn’t played on the top line until the playoffs where they would run Tkachuk- Barkov - Reinhart sometimes, with Verhague being the other common winger seen. -

In some ways Reinhart's issues were both caused by our coaching and his own demeanor. I get the sense he has always been a guy who'd rather be in the background versus the main attraction. Bylsma and Housley were fine with him just running shotgun with Eichel. (Reinhart seemed to separate from ROR after his rookie year and instead latched to Eichel) Even when Eichel was out with his high ankle sprain he would run shotgun for ROR. The only time we saw a coach actually push him into the 1C role was with Granato. In some ways Reinhart probably needed to be pushed in such a manner to bring out his skill at a higher level. So in the end he fell short of being a Top Tier 2C and became a solid 2/3RW -
Out of those 6 Skinner and Tuch might lessen But I don’t see Thompson, Cozens or Peterka vanishing into an ether. Quinn was spotty through the year and while his loss hurts, a solid full year from Mitts will overcome that and more. Goaltending is concerning but you are speaking out both sides of your mouth here. Levi isn’t highly regarded due to inexperience. UPL and Comrie are below average but again how can any model state that UPL or Comrie have played plenty of bad games to be considered yet Levi can’t play enough good games to be considered good. What exactly is that number? 20 games? 30 games? 40? So to say the model isn’t penalizing us for young players whom are inexperienced is incorrect.
-
The problem with the Athletic’s model is it puts way too much emphasis on UFA signings and has little to no adjustment for teams that hold steady and merely mature from within. A simplistic view on this would be that Olofsson being traded for a pick and replaced with any non-NHL vet would be considered a huge negative. Detroit makes a large trade and dumps money on a couple guys and the chart explodes for them. Sabres don’t make any large plays and they get left in the dust. We saw much of the same last offseason. Their model is far too dependent on past data and practically ignores any other roster factors.

Yes, same username

Oh, I understand that; I was just remarking about Perrault’s statement about Adin Hill and us using UPL made him known
-
I highly doubt it, there are too many teams that could still see potential and have rebuilding years to kill. Chicago, San Jose, even Anaheim theoretically.
-
What I’m trying to get to was nowadays he would be grabbed and most goalies who do well in the AHL are forced into the NHL once that waiver clearance ends. In UPL’s case he was very unlucky as most of his NHL time was due to abnormal numbers of goalie injuries forcing the Sabres to use him. More than likely, this past year should have been his inaugural season, not his 3rd. But rampant injuries forced him into the NHL and his own injuries have made 2/3 very short stints. (We used 6 goalies his first two years) In that regard, Levi gets to stay in Rochester because he hasn’t been needed to play out last year’s playoff run which gave evidence he might be ready already.
-
The issue with UPL and the AHL was is that any prospect worth going after would be swooped up on waivers when they’d become subject to waivers. Hill wasn’t good until he sprung onto the scene with Arizona.
-
Well the Juneau trade was weird for sure Juneau and a 3rd for a defensive prospect (who busted) and a 4th. How often does a rental get traded with the higher draft pick?
-
If he honestly said that, he might be one of the most unusual drunks around; a combative yet strangely "fancy" drunk. (Who the hell says bloodline nowadays in that way lol) Utterly despicable however as funny as it might be indirectly. I'd certainly guess he can kiss his career in North America good bye.
-
In the end the likely result of no moves will be due to a lack of availability of solid goalies and/or the price of acquisition being over what any sane GM would give. Its also likely stopped up at this time league wide due to all the RFA goalies outstanding and a lack of cap space to go around. Teams that need to acquire goalies and have cap either aren’t competing or already have guys. We are arguably the closest team to one that can handle a larger cap hit while having need of a goalie. Boston is screwed if Swayman reaches arbitration. He’ll like get 4-5mil due to his team and personal success.

The summer doldrums of hockey. Puckdoku edition.

Had fun got all but Detroit and Calgary -
I’m surprised you have such interest in a player who is far from what I’d guess to be a @PerreaultForever would be.
-
You want a rental Helle? I’ll offer UPL and a 2nd that becomes a 1st if we make the playoffs. Then let him walk because I have zero interest in paying him 8x9mil
-
We aren’t a physical team but we aren’t a team of wallflowers anymore.
-
Certainly, team identity most certainly plays a role in this. The culture you refer to there sounds like Torts lol. His issue has always been an inability to handle young players. In some ways you need a player culture that values defense while simultaneously having a coach who is more offensively open.
-
Well yes, I already understand that lol. I honestly think he can do it.
