What has happened to Power and Samuelsson? It’s truly mind boggling how both have forgotten how to play their roles. Dahlin looks annoyed in his interview and for good reason. This team frankly just doesn’t make sense because we see them play great some games but also terrible some games. Some can be attributed to inexperience but you can’t exactly handwave away going from 10 to 1 game to game.

Between interviews and appearances on Beyond Blue & Gold, his reaction to a bottle cap bonking his head and the the like; he's shown to be a very friendly, albeit quirky guy.

But he did have good analytical numbers; great goalie don't just spawn in like a video game. You either have to draft them, find a untapped gem, or pay out the nose to get one. Comrie ended up being fools gold but that doesn't suddenly make the attempt completely without merits.

That’d be nice, I like Comrie as a person, seems like a nice guy; but has only shown us a couple minor flashes of good play before getting hurt

Bryson was always a solid spot starter but a train wreck if he played more than a handful of games in a row. I’m unsure why but that always seemed to be the case with him. He’d be put in to fill a spot, he’d look great using his speed to close distances and cut angles. Then after 5 games to 10 games he’d seemingly stop playing fast and try to play more physically and get easily overwhelmed due his lack of strength. Then he would spiral until being sat again. Sit him a few weeks and suddenly he looks good again for a couple weeks. A most unusual case.

My only issue with this has to be the insistence on NJ and FLA making substantial moves being instrumental. NJ hasn’t exactly looked great this year and Meier has been a borderline bust so far for the Devils. Florida however is a oddball due to their locale and taxes being an immediate draw but furthermore there’s zero chance we make a trade on par with the Tkachuk deal. Part of the issue we find ourselves in is the inability to supplement the core with still effective vets while simultaneously gaining some degree of backbone. Problem being players that fit that role either are disinterested in coming here, washed up, or not available. Additionally said players either want absurd contracts or already have them. TSN said Lindholm turned down 8x9mil practically in the off-season which more or less sinks that ship. One of the few players who’d fit this role to a T is Boone Jenner whom happens to already be the captain of Columbus and unlikely available to begin with.

Feels like some players whom have a bit of moxxy lose it if they are penalized or straight up beaten up. Want to kill a team’s willingness to fight? Give the a freaking penalty every freaking time they are in a scrum and potentially a PK for their trouble. The team is moderately soft akin to a Toronto but we seem to be the only team to get endlessly punished for daring to even try to be even slightly mean. Just a rough night in general. UPL played well until UPL’s literal oppsie seemed to gut the team and then Arizona went full on LAK from the 2010s with the full on mugging and board play shtick. Team didn’t deserve to win tonight with that 3rd effort but the refs certainly gave us no help. Benson is awesome They looked completely out of gas by the end of the 3rd.

Feels like they can’t pierce into the house without being mugged and when the refs stay quiet the Sabres get softer

I think Thompson is still slowly healing because his shot is very shotgun like instead of sniper like since his return.

I think part of their difference is skating speed. Quinn is a far quicker skater than Benson and as such Benson has had to work far harder on his IQ in order make up for his lack of elite speed.

This team truly is an enigma; you could honestly convince me we have two teams and that they alternate who's playing. Benson could easily become something akin to either Skinner with Defensive play or even Marchand

I'm honestly about as tired of the Sabres losing as I am of the Sabres getting screwed by officials. That's the 4th or 5th time this year that we get the sole penalty in a scrum. We have yet to get a PP from any scrum.
