  1. He just joined the team and they want to give him a chance to settle in a bit.
  2. Let me just pose this situation Unlike skaters, goalies take more time and tend to spend more time in the minors. If I’m a college goalie, why leave college? There are 64 starters/backups in the NHL, you might get a few fill-in starts but even then most GMs are hesitant to send up a young goalie. As such you are most likely in the AHL, or worse, the ECHL. In both cases you make about 50k to 70k per year on your ELC. Unless you literally have an NHL spot assured; why would you bother? You are getting college mostly if not all paid for while your there. The most likely amount of money you pass over is about 210k over 3 years but in return you get a Bachelors degree to fallback on, your draft team will likely still want you but if you wait you could even choose your destination. The biggest risk you take is health and your skill dropping off; both of which, few college age kids are going to be fearful of. I’d assume for most that College hockey is far more fun than AHL hockey in regards to the off-ice situation. And with the ongoing trend of instant-returns/pleasure being a must have; it’s hard for a Minor League professional team to compete with a college atmosphere and it’s perks.
  3. No they don’t have to wait 2 years to play anywhere, they would just be exclusive rights to their draft team until 2 years after their final college game. If you desire to play in the NHL and get an education; you shouldn’t also get to screw your draft team and go anywhere you want. Also no, they should have zero right to go wherever they want barring their draft team being unwilling to sign him. There shouldn’t be a scenario in which an athlete has the opportunity to get a full ride education and pick their team in the same move. Also with the NCAA loosening some income related things in regards to players, and a player getting a full scholarship; why wouldn’t they just stay in college? You get just about the same money from playing in the AHL as most full scholarship years equate to. Unless you are a sure NHLer, there’s little reason to depart school as you only gain from it.
  4. Quinn and Peterka
  5. Wild game in Belleville, 6-1 Amerks late 2nd. Peterka 2g,2a Quinn 2g,2a 4/5 on the PP
  6. That's kind of the idea; it removes the legitimate reason of staying in school for education as a way to stand up your draft team.
  7. The rule should be that you are retained 2 years past your final college game. So if a player truly is gung-ho about his education then he can finish his degree without it hurting the team investing time and money into his development
  8. There was small banter he might stay one more year but I never put much credence to it.
  9. Not a huge fan of Dumba due to his contract situation Hey, now I'd be all for it. Now there are openings. Way too long, 2 years is the max you can give with an absurd money number (ex: 8mil) 4 years is the max you can give with a normal contract number (ex: 5mil) You have to make it possible that if UPL takes off, that we aren't in a traffic jam of goalies while trying to get Levi and maybe Portillo next year. We have to maintain an appearance of some kind of possibility of them making it. Additionally, I'd target the best 2 defensive dmen you can find for Rochester. They are practically a cartoonish version of the Leafs where they only win via outscoring their own mistakes
  10. The difference is that a team can’t sign a player and leave them in college. They can sign and leave a player in any of the leagues.
  11. If they closed the ridiculous loophole that allows them to leave it would be a different story. If you are drafted into the NHL, your rights should stay with that team in perpetuity if no ELC is signed. If you are undrafted that’s different but a drafted player should under no circumstance be able to escape their draft team’s rights
  12. I'm honestly surprised with how wide open the goaltending position is here why he would just come here. But if he decides he doesn't want to be a Sabre than he may as well just blow out his knee..... It's this reason I can't stand college players and their BS
  13. Dahlin's flub wasn't a bad play just a badly executed one that likely is the result of exhaustion. Then literally everything that could go wrong goes wrong with Huberdeau falling thus blocking Skinner, Jokiharju coming high and inadvertently cutting off Dahlin who loses his footing and can't get back to Bennett. The Sabres deserved better, they are fighting like cornered rats though so I like seeing that. I liked seeing Tuch doing what he could to get Dahlin to get away from Bennett at the end.
  14. SO do we try to convince Power to PTO with Rochester and then sign 3 years on ELC to avoid him coming up with Dahlin, Jokiharju, and Mitts contracts?
  15. It was 2-0 and then 3-1; we never led by 3 during the game. I think everyone here is angry we lost; many of us however want to find the good parts in their performance. Earlier this year they were ran out of Carolina. This year they blew a lead but their fight never ceased and they forced Carolina to play at a very high level in order to beat us this time. We played toe to toe with them until they tied it and still threatened until their lead goal in the 3rd. With their lead Carolina did what they do best in playing a heavy forecheck coupled with aggravatingly lining 4/5 players at their blue line and clutching & grabbing anyone entering the zone.
  16. #### the Hurricanes and their 15 fans. They don't even deserve a freaking franchise. Infuriating game in the 3rd, between Buffalo's non-existent powerplay and Carolina playing forecheck forecheck and then everyone lineup at the blueline and grab anything in a white jersey
  17. I'll certainly give you partial credit there.
  18. I have no problem with their color commentating, just something about their pbp makes me think of a grade school lecture
  19. I'm sorry but I cannot stand women pbp announcers. They just don't sound right, their highs are too shrill and their lows are either barely audible or make them sound like a woman pretending to be a man for a joke. Carolina looked for blood but never found any
  20. Denver was a hair better but Michigan got jobbed by the refs. 0 PP opportunities... seriously when they gave Denver 3 of them?!?
  21. So what’s the deal with airplane food?
  22. It would appear as if nill has been hacked since I’ve never seen him actually positive about anything before lol
  23. It could just as easily be thanks to Pysyk being a vet that he’s giving Butcher a game here and there to try and salvage his career Yes
