  1. They both suck, I’ll take Varlamov though
  2. Likely there are few season ticket holders for both teams
  3. He signed an extension with Chicago earlier this year.
  4. To me it depends where the picks land. If Vegas misses and Florida is ousted in round 1, we likely end up picking around 6,15,24,38 In that situation I’d use all 4. If Vegas and Florida meet in the Finals, we’d end up with 6,31,32 and 38. In that case I’d either trade a pick for a player now or package the 31/32 with our 3rd to move up some. If well spaced, we can hit multiple levels of prospects and get both quantity and quality. If they are stacked at the back, it’s wiser to trade up once to get more quality at the cost of a little quantity.
  5. Yes, seasons tend to start looser and higher scoring. Upon reaching January the regular season begins to buckle down which makes games more difficult in general. It’s where teams like the Sabres the past few years have died. When teams locked down, the Sabres had no ability to break through and would slowly cease playing. While the Sabres general skill is lower this year; they seem a bit more resilient to completely surrendering like in years past.
  6. Toronto has had goaltending since Dec. 1 that is barely better than ours. Their defense is made up of Reilly-Brodie and a bunch of dudes who without Muzzin are too similar. The Leafs rely almost entirely on their offensive firepower and like Edmonton fall into the same trap every playoffs. Shut down their big scorers and their team looks vulnerable.
  7. Well one huge positive is what Tuch brings as a person and role model. Eichel will likely always be the better player; but Tuch alone may effectively solve our team's culture dearth. In my honest opinion, where we serious hurt the Sabres was by cutting off the entire team's past upon the start of the tank. Every team needs a sense of the importance of the crest they wear. Essentially, since the 70's I would bet the Sabres have had at least a couple players overlap between different versions of the team thus carrying the torch through the ages. Think about it, as I'm not old enough to know the 70's/80s I'll merely guess that the torch was passed from Perrault to someone else in the 80's, Rob Ray for instance played on both the high flying early 90's team and the late 90's Cup Run team. Jay McKee was youngster on the 99 Cup Run team and a savvy player for the team in the 05-06 run. While no where near as successful, the core of 2010 were almost entirely vets of the 06 team. When we tanked and traded Ennis, Myers, Stafford, Vanek, Pominville, and Miller by the end of '13 we had practicality cut the line with our entire past. Murray brought in GIonta and Gorges but both were Canadiens, not Sabres. But more importantly they were well past their primes. The only real connection we have left is a thin line between Girgs and the 13-14 team. We had a chance to fix this problem with Pominville's return and we did see a positive result but Botts decided to let him leave while still playing at a solid level. Pominville alone wouldn't of completetly solved the issues plaging the team culture but he gave the franchise some continuity which it lacked. Tuch is a weird case since he is a fan, like us, whom is not directly linked to the past Sabres teams but has the personal connection to the franchise that can spread to his teammates. He's like a time capsule from 05-06 whom genuinely wants to be here and play hard for this franchise and its fans. Essentially Tuch could be the transplant this team needs to finally get out of the ditch we've been in since 2012.
  8. Stalock is trying to return from a serious injury and hasn't looked great in the AHL for Edmonton's affiliate. I wish him luck though.
  9. After the Skinner goal, yes. Seemed like the Leafs just threw up their hands in defeat.
  10. Strikes me as a future coach or commentator.
  11. They need to embrace this and start sending us memes; akin to how the Predators embraced their typo of "Go Perds!"
  12. Well if they move, I'll invite WWIII and the world's end to be perfectly honest
  13. Bills are definitely a larger fanbase but a huge number of local Bills fans are also Sabres fans. The primary point of divergence comes from Canadian Bills fans. The NHL is unlikely to allow the Sabres to move however; while I don't think Bettman would put a hammer on it, plenty of owners would question why move a typically popular team in a far greater "hockey town" than Arizona and its endless embarrassments.
  14. **Throws Atomic bomb** you ain’t ducking that
  15. That would be my best guess, he’d want to move us to Austin since Arizona refuses to.
  16. Granato certainly looks like a pissed off Dad in the postgame.
  17. Dahlin has played well, The Cozens line looked dangerous. The Thompson line always seemed a second off. Eakin’s line may as well be a PK and Mitts line was a bag of surprises both positive and negative. Im starting to fear that Mitts injury/injuries may have ruined him.
  18. I just see issues arising from a D corp of Dahlin - Jokiharju Power - Myers Samuelsson - Fitzgerald Bryson Not very much there in regards to veteran presence, Cup winning or competing experience, and mentorship. Also Myers is soft regardless of his spot on the defense; still a great skater and better than a JAG but he doesn't bring much new to the table.
  19. It's more about style and fit; he's more of the same puck moving soft defensively deficient player we already have plenty of. Now if its Myers vs bring back Miller I'd rather get Myers.
  20. I hope PSE is right, I'd rather them not sell the team because I'd greatly fear the team being moved to Hamilton
  21. Not good at Defense and not physical, easy pass for me
  22. Tuch, Cozens, Quinn, Dahlin, and Power are the primary core presently with any of the 3 young goalies filling the goaltending spot. Skinner is a core piece but only in regards to his presence continuing for the foreseeable future. Krebs, Thompson, Mitts, Jokiharju and Samuelsson are the rim of the core. They are highly likely to be part of the Sabres for a while but don’t quite reach the core’s inherent value to the franchise as a whole. Okposo and Girgensons are the shell that help give support and protection to the core and rim. Pysyk this year would also fill this role. While replaced over time the role is always useful and vital for a young core group. Stickers are players like Olofsson, Hinostroza, Fitzgerald and Bryson. Better than JAGs and useful; but not inherently vital on a player to player level. They decorate the shell effectively. Olofsson filled a role as a high level PP asset. Olofsson’s skill at the role is more important than the player’s personal value. If we replace Olofsson with Hoffman, the identity of the team doesn’t drastically change. JAGs are rather self explanatory, they exist to fill space. JAGs can become stickers but don’t necessarily even achieve that level. Asplund has been a Sticker at times but has been a JAG most the year. Bjork’s speed could get him Sticker value but he fails to give much more than existance. Black Holes are JAGs that have gone beyond being mere space eaters and have legitimately become anti-stickers. Will Butcher fills this role very well as he negatively effects the team in practically every facet while gaining nothing in return. Cody Eakin is quite literally hanging by a thread above this category due to his face off skill.
  23. I wonder if Hellebuck would be on the block if the Jets miss?
