How bad is Tage? Should he be in Rochester?
apuszczalowski replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
My belief with this is again 'Has any player been ruined by spending too much time in the minors?'. I believe that the Redwings system has always been that they keep guys down and dont try to rush them up before they are ready. It's better that they stay down too long then be brought up too early. Would it really have hurt Tage or Casey to play in Rochester this year? Would it not have been better to next year maybe still bring up 4, but leave the bottom 2 of their top 6 down a little longer? Or force the players to earn their time in the NHL by having to beat out guys on the NHL roster first, rather then giving them spots based off of their background and draft positions? -

Definitely should be in Rochester, same with Middlestadt. Has any player ever been 'damaged' by spending too much time in the minors? Compared to how many may be damaged by being rushed into a situation they arent ready for? -
His interview wasn't horrible, it was truthful and showed the truth behind 'tanking' The fans all got their panties in a bunch cause they expected everyone on the roster was going to be perfectly happy wasting their years playing for a team with no intention of winning and whos goal of existing was to collect #1 overall picks and not winning a cup. He is playing much better now in St Louis and would probably have good things to say about being on a franchise who is looking towards the playoffs now and not the draft......

I don't think he has a problem re-signing here, but he isn't going to do it for cheap. Because he was allowed to continue playing out the season and had the year he did, and the Sabres having issues scoring, he now has them over a barrel. His agent knows Botterill has no choice but to pay up for his client, or go overpay in the FA market for someone to replace him. Skinner will have plenty of places that will pay him plenty if he tests the market and can make up that extra year the Sabres can give him in other ways. Botterill wanted to be 'Methodically & careful' to not negotiate an extension earlier, and this is what can happen when you do.......

It might be a revolving door, but lets not pretend that its why they are bad. The problem isn't making the coaching change, its hiring the wrong guy in the first place. If its the wrong hire, it won't matter if they give him 5 months or 5 years......

Thats because they were excited to hear 'Hall & Oates"!

So I guess if they could dump Eichel. Its all good cause they came in last with Eichel too.............

Read the press release by the Sens after firing Boucher, it lists what they are searching for in their new coach, comes off like a job ad in the paper. Lol Their GM, the guy who should have been canned, said he made the decision last night but wanted to sleep on it. Said he called Melnyk this morning and then told Boucher when he got to the rink he was done, then he talked to the team and told them their play recently wasnt acceptable. He said Crawford will coach them til the end of the year, then they will do an extensive search for someone who can teach the young players, listen to them and develop them. The guy on sportsnet was almost laughing over it saying that theres not really anyone out there who would meet their requirements.also said their play the entire season was unacceptable..... They also believe they made this move hoping the move will help them move up a few spots and not finish 31st

Phil - Osophy?

Just wondering, is part of Housleys system to leave one of the greatest players in the game wide open by himself on one side of the ice?
-
That usually gets a place rocking....... The fan experience doesnt matter when a team is winning and playing well. If they are bad, fans need something in the arena to distract them from the on ice play and get them excited.

Trade: Beaulieu to Winnipeg for 6th rounder
apuszczalowski replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I know, but the joke doesnt work with the 3rd....... maybe if it was a #2? -
Yeah, it's a funny deal, it seems like both teams couldnt agree what both players were worth, but determined they were worth each other?

Trade: Beaulieu to Winnipeg for 6th rounder
apuszczalowski replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I dont know if I would word it as 'solidifying the deal' as I doubt the Canes were holding off on making it a deal until Buffalo included a 6th, I think it's more of a 'sweetener' where throwing it in is gravy so they can say they got more then Pu for him.... -

He didnt need to come accross as a team player, he made a request to be able to play somewhere that he would get ice time with. He told the team that if he was going to not have a chance to play, he wanted to be moved somewhere where he would have a chance. He wasnt refusing to play, or holding out, he wanted a chance to play and wasnt getting it. -

He wanted to be in Buffalo IF he would continue to get ice time, if he was goi g to get scratched and not play, he would prefer to be moved. This is what he said the other day according to the reports today. They had to move a defenceman after getting Montour, I would assume then that the move wouldnt give more ice time to NB so they moved him for the best offer -
Trade: Beaulieu to Winnipeg for 6th rounder
apuszczalowski replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Beaulieu allegedly made a request back in January to be traded because of a lack of playing time and being a healthy scratch at the time. But recently, had changed his tune to say he wanted to stay in Buffalo as his top choice IF he continued to get ice time, if not then he would rather go somewhere where he would get to play. So he did at one time request a trade, but recently said he would prefer to stay if he continued to have a chance to play. -
Might be a good time to catch the leaves who have fallen in their last few games......

This is a move to make him eligible for the playoffs for them as an emergency backup. Since he was not part of the 40 man roster (iirc) he needs to clear waivers and then can accept the 2 way deal making him eligible.
-
I thought this move was so they would be able to move out Marner or Matthews?

It's the deadline, they wont be sending over a roster player in a deal, they are loading up for the playoffs. Prospects Nd picks would be the return so it's more likely a ROR return then a Skinner return......
