  1. my question is who else abused kids at the Penn state athletic program and who else was involved in covering it up? Who Else?
  2. From what I've read Doan is really tied to the Phoenix area. I'm pretty sure he has a horse stable and everything...loves the lifestyle out there. But with Whitney and Pyatt leaving, (despite the addition of Steve Sullivan) there's a perception that the rats are bailing out in Phoenix, that last playoff was their best shot.
  3. I second, third and fifth getting Evander Kane.
  4. with Pyatt going to the Rangers and Whitney going to Dallas, they're talking about an exodus in Phoenix, as if the players knew they had reached the team's peak last playoffs. I think the Sabres will make a play for Doan with this climate and wouldn't be surpised if they landed him, despite his age.
  5. Now go out and get Jon Mirasty. http://deadspin.com/5850943/jon-mirasty-is-crazy-enough-to-grin-through-a-hockey-fight-and-then-casually-tko-his-opponent
  6. good post. Before the injury, Derek had a certain fire. I hope he returns to his pre-injury form for his sake. not sure what we got in Ott, but it looks like the Sabres are becoming the next Charlestown Chiefs.
  7. even money says Brodeur to the Red Wings.
  8. I'm not around nhl locker rooms but I assume coaches treat their players as people (not just hockey players) all around the league? Seems like Ruff had it in for Boyes plus the combination that Boyes didn't produce and that Ruff can't stay with a line for more than 5 minutes.
  9. here's a good interview with Brad Boyes. There's alot about Buffalo and especially Ruff. Maybe Ruff didn't want Boyes in the first place but it sounds like Lindy just didn't treat Boyes like a man. (pardon the pun) http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/opinion/2012/07/qa-nhl-free-agent-brad-boyes-on-search-for-new-home.html
  10. this is all I need to know about Semin:
  11. For starters: Sherlock Jr. Metropolis, Wings, King of Jazz, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, The Mummy, White Zombie, Island of Lost Souls, Little Caesar, The Public Enemy, Scarface, The Bowery, I Was a Fugitive from a Chain Gang, City Lights, Sons of the Desert, It's a Gift, Animal Crackers, 42nd Street, Golddiggers of 1933, Three on a Match, The Green Pastures, Alexander Nevsky, Stagecoach.
  12. I can't understand no mention of Kong (except me) here at all. Go figure.
  13. "King Kong" (1933) "Twas beauty that killed the beast." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53q-3PuVC90
  14. He probably just wants to come back for the playoffs.
  15. This is from a poster from out of the blue on the LA Angels' MLB Board: "Hey, when are the Bills going to go back to their original helmet? They'd have the best unis in the NFL if they did."
  16. all talk about trades is theoretical. you saw how the new parts meshed with the old parts last year. you can't frankenstein it together. Chemistry has to be developed. as far as I'm concerned, this is not a team, they don't play together well and there's no leadership. I have no answers for you guys.
  17. Kassian with just 3:52 ice time in Canuck's 3-1 win last night.
  18. one of the great film of all time.
  19. it's not a generational thing, it's a music thing. I think Classical has alot of cool possibilites. Sabre Dance is classical, dontcha think? Night on Bald Mountain, Wagner, the list goes on. It sends a chill up the spine. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081119040706AAwf4ke
  20. I'd like to see the Sabres take a completely different approach to music than the rest of the league and sports in general. You want to instill a proper sense of fear, dread and intimidation in the hated opponent, right? I think strains of Prokofiev's Alexander Nevsky ("Battle on the Ice") is the right thing to pipe in throughout a Sabres game, instead of the lame pop stuff they've been doing for centuries. It's self-explanatory. (1:45-10:00)
  21. I'm wondering if Hodgson and Kassian were too young, inexperienced and immature to be dealt at deadline in this supposed "blockbuster" trade between two teams. I'm not sure they are mature enough to psychologically adjust to the situation and do their thing. I'm not expecting too much this season frankly.
  22. Hodgson has shown some flair in the first few games and I'm looking forward to him and Ennis teaming up. I'm a bit worried about his previous back problem...All said, I wish we had a chance to see what Kassian-Adam-Foligno could've done. They looked like a potent combination. But no, our coaching staff knows better.
  23. It's hard to know where this will all go. We know Hodgson is producing now but when you're surrounded by really good players, you look better. There's a nerve problem in his leg that caused him to ...Then there's Kassian, who's big, mean and has a screw loose. Is he a future Lucic or Bertuzzi or will he be plagued with a string of problems because of his temper? We'll see. Both teams just traded potential.
