  1. I think most anyone who's paying attention to Sabres gets what KA's doing at this point and is on-board with the approach.....
  2. Wouldn't be too hard for Steve Carell to pull off Ted Darling.... -- Punch Imlack, since we're casting people who have since died, I've seen former NY Mayor Ed Koch in movie cameos before. He'd make a grea Imlach -- Michael Fassbender as Dominik Hasek -- John Kraskinski is Pat Lafontaine -- A young Gene Hackman as Don Luce?? -- Lucy Liu would have to be Kim Pegula -- Leslie Neilson is Terry Pegula -- This would need an element of cartoon in it, so Dexter (Dexter's Laboratory) is Tim Murray -- Harry Styles could be Eichel
  3. At this point there's never any discussion of Girgensons filling that vet role as he missed all of last season. But he'll be back this year. Isn't he a core vet to guide the young core?
  4. And the title suggests more than just one rumor
  5. Do their contracts start next season? Seems have openings with all call-ups now. Wouldn't Sabres want them to report to Rochester right away for some game?? They're cycling players in on PTOs
  6. What about potential #1 overall pick.... Owen Power? https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nhl/news/nhl-mock-draft-2021-sabres-owen-power-kraken-luke-hughes/o92mfuglsbwv1gqm8qos7d8v5
  7. So with that said, Stephens was a +35 and had some offense to him on the best ECHL team. I'm not suggesting he's the second coming, but seems I'd put him up on the Amerks for at least 1/4 season and see if he belongs. He was signed to ELC as a 5th rounder, so he needed some time to develop, but now its 2 years later and it seems like he performed in Cincinnati. If there's no purpose to ECHL other than to park a goalie for a season, then what's the point?
  8. What has the bottom half of that list done that warrants that order? Bryson and Fitzpatrick played in NCAA and put up lesser numbers. Hickey's done little. Redmond, MacWilliam, Paestch are career AHLers. They determined he's lower ranked from 3-4 practices?
  9. I don't watch Cyclones games, but do follow the stats. He was a +35 last year on the top team in ECHL. He scored points and is 6'2". What is the purpose of a farm club if we don't see what a guy on an ELC has? Why couldn't they give him 10-15 games w/ Amerks and see if he should stick? Our prospect experts rave about players who play well in Juniors or NCAA, but isn't ECHL a higher tier league than either of those? It seems to me his stats were better in a tougher league and the team ignored it
  10. I like the idea of being able to let a prospect got to ECHL for a year before having to make a decision on signing them. That would make those teams more exciting for us rather than just have a goalie and 1-2 others on those affiliated teams.
  11. They all showed they're ready for the NHL next season, now they need to put a final stamp on that by dominating the AHL playoffs. For all the abuse Tage Thompson was given has being kept in the NHL, he's showing that he's too good to stay down in the minors.
  12. What are the salary cap implications of retirement in NHL? Must not be the same as football, where just had to eat dead cap space for Eric Woods abrupt retirement.
  13. I guess I'm a bit confused. Wasn't he already fully signed for this year through playoffs or is this in order to make him eligible for NHL playoffs should Sabres need him? Does this put him under contract for next year? I would think Johansen would be recovered and has to be in Rochester next year. Also, UPL comes into the system, where will he go?
  14. Exactly.... what's made them somewhat problematic owners has been their inexperience and mistakes in hiring and trusting front office talent (both w/ Sabres and Bills). Are we hanging the season of "tanking" for Eichel around their necks as a permanent stain? If you like Botterill and the moves he's making then the problem is essentially solved. They generally don't meddle in personnel decisions. They have fired coaches, but its not without cause. Their GMs are able to spend as needed. Facilities are first class. And there's stability in the teams not relocating anywhere. Plus they also own the Amerks just down the road, so there's long-term stability there. So what ranks them 26th?
  15. Exactly... Guhle, Pilut, Borgen and Redmond all would come up to the Sabres ahead of him.
  16. ...are you saying the Rangers are tampering? any evidence of this?
  17. People if you're interested in what's coming, follow the Amerks game unfolding now. Victor Olofsson now has 4 pts (2G/2A) tonight and his the leading scorer in the AHL. And his Swedish counterpart Pilut is also running a multi-point night again and is +7 leading the Amerks
  18. Victor Goalofsson is ready to rock and waiting in the wings in Rochester.... he's just registering his 3rd straight 3pt night (2G/1A) right now, still just in the 2nd period. 11 points in less than 6 games
  19. Uh, that's nothing compared to what goes on in the Bills forum....
  20. Now that's a depressing post.....
  21. I disagree. Linesman call offsides many times per game and even get most close calls right. So offsides get properly called as a matter of course. Both last night and the Kane goal that was called back in the first game, the replay had to get down to slow-motion, nearly "frame-by-frame" to see that he was offsides. In that type of context there really wasn't an advantage to the attacking team. If the linesman called it, then fine no problem the goal would never have been scored and more importantly our momentum unaffected. Almost the bigger problem I have with this is how momentum shattering it is. It basically handed them the game after the momentum was killed. I don't think they considered the impact of taking a goal down in these situations sufficiently in such a free-flowing game.
