  1. The "hand pass" call on Josi just now sums up just how bad the officiating in this league is. This is why people think the league fixes these games. Awful.
  2. She's from Chicago...
  3. And we were naive enough to continue believing it after Gore won the election...
  4. True, but if you're accusing them of possessing enough self-awareness to realize this, you're wrong.
  5. They stopped the government from functioning in any meaningful way. Which, I suppose, was the point.
  6. I'm also fairly sure that I've read that had they not been promoted to the Premier League when they were, the Football League (no time to explain the difference, just go with it) was likely going to relegate them to League One for the financial shenanigans.
  7. It's a peculiarly American problem; we tend, as a society, to glory in our own immesiration (to borrow Marx's term) at our own expense. Anyone seen as getting a better deal (except for the 1%) are viewed as "takers". Unemployed single mothers, the disabled, the children of the poor and their handouts, and raised minimum wage... Take it away. Unions and government employees with their paid time off, insurance and pensions, take that away from them. Perhaps it would be beneficial to ask: what would it take to give everyone that deal? Is there an economically feasible way to provide these things? Of course there is, but it would require a reallocation of tax dollars away from the rich and their interests. Which is why they have, for almost a century now, been demonizing government, regulation, been pushing for privitazition of absolutely everything from utilities to schools to prisons for 's sake. As long as we continue to buy the lie that the "free market" which is in no way shape or form "free" should be placed in the role vacated by government (because they've bought it off) then we should just be happy with the ever shrinking slice of the pie we have access to. U till ours gets eaten....
  8. Ah, drunken softball...
  9. After reading it was attached to the ArcelorMittal tower, I can only conclude anyone going down that slide will be horribly poisoned. Sorry, I lived in Cleveland throughout the 2000's and dealt with the, for lack of a better term, fallout spread over the city and the west side suburbs. If I ever meet Lakshimi Mittal, I will stab him in the face. For what he and his co pant has done to a city I love and to America, which if you haven't noticed is for sale cheap.
  10. OT in Dallas, and the Kings tie it up. Tonight has been Crazygonuts.
  11. NHL Network
  12. He caught it outside the crease, I think 2:00 would have been better.
  13. That was a questionable call...
  14. Riding in the car with my wife this afternoon. A local, quite "family friendly" radio station is on, and asks listeners to request their favorite Prince songs. She turns to me and says: "You have no idea how badly I want to call them repeatedly and ask for P***y Control..." I really, really love that woman. Also, sad to hear of Prince's passing. Didn't hit me as hard as Bowie, but one can not help but recognize the brilliance of the light that was extinguished.
  15. If memory serves me correctly, both of them. I have vivid memories of Audette engaging in some sneaky stick-related nastiness for sure...
  16. Tangentially related to the thread topic, but I'm going to have to leave this here. It made me laugh...
  17. Me looking at my bracket three nights into the playoffs...
  18. As to the bolded, I'd give you this nice little puff piece: http://www.chicagotribune.com/dining/ct-anheuser-busch-craft-beer-20160412-story.html The last question, asked to DB's erstwhile owner with his ABinbev handler there was: Q: In your opinion, are we past needing a thing that’s called “craft beer?” Is there no need to differentiate anymore? Crandall: Absolutely, that’s true. There’s a great need for the Brewers Association to support craft breweries, and they’ve done an amazing job — they’re very skilled at what they do. But there should be some acknowledgment that maybe there’s different levels in the Brewer’s Association. Maybe there’s a tier of different sizes of breweries. But I believe in the end, it should all be about the beer in the glass. I buy part of that statement, no points for guessing which part...
  19. The entire Panthers team was a bit of a hot mess in their own end all night long, Lou most definitely included. It'll be interesting to see if they can knock that off here tonight.
  20. Food, or perhaps beer, for thought: http://time.com/money/4073371/anheuser-busch-sabmiller-craft-beer/
  21. Catching up with last night's highlights. The Rangers had exactly one chance to win this series: superior goaltending, so of course Lundqvist take a stick in the eye from his own player. Kind of disappointing. Eff the Penguins, if only slightly harder than the Rags.
  22. The Vienna Lager and Schwarzbier, as well as their IPA were fantastic. It'll now be watered down to Blue Moon proportions. tisk..
  23. There's also soccer. Actually, soccer is the only sport where listening to the commentary is inadvisable. As presented in the UK and US anyway...
  24. Devil's Backbone, one of my favorite Virgina breweries, has been bought by Anhieser-Busch. RIP Devil's Backbone...
  25. Not only did every state get two senators, but slaves were counted as 3/5 of a person for Confressional Representation purposes. Not like they were gonna get 3/5 of a vote. The Civil War was written right into the supreme law of the land. But I digress...
