Of course there is. Peppy22 on this forum is from Germany. A few others i have seen on this forum who are from Austria. Hockey is a international sport, and theres fans all over the world. Especially when a team has a player from a specific country, such as Germany (Hecht and now Ehrhoff), Austria (Vanek), ect, but don't forget Alex Ovechkin growing up in Russia liked the Sabres because of Alex Moginly. I think it's absolutely awesome seeing fans from all over the world support the team. I remember a few years ago, two Finnish fans made a USA trip, which included like a 3 day stop in Buffalo because they had always liked the Sabres but truly became fans when Teppo and Toni Lydman joined the team, and organized a trip around the Sabres to come here and they saw two games. They also visited Boston and NYC, but their primary reason was to see the Sabres in person. Kinda a once in a lifetime type dream trip for these guys. I remember i read the story on Sabres.com.

It's a 10 year deal. He has 9 years left. It's a ridic contract, although it has worked out, so far.

Rangers make plenty of sense. They are much closer to winning then we are, and they could definitely use a very skilled forward to go with their premier signing of last summer, Brad Richards. I just feel like, the Rangers under Torts are much less to make a desperation move like this, and would be more into waiting for a Rick Nash or Bobby Ryan. As far as the Sabres goes, Terry's cash has been used in ridicules contracts already.... Leino and Ehrhoff.

I don't think it's as bad as people are making it seem to be honest. Reporters are always siding with the players because thats how they do their job, talk to players. They can't ruin that relationship. 1-reduce players hockey related revenues to 46% from 57 %. (NBA is 50%, NFL is 49% i believe, 57% is RIDIC for a sport such as hockey if these sports are near 50%.) 2-10 seasons in NHL before being UFA. (Not much different from current system. If anything, this will increase trading) 3-contracts limites to 5 years (brilliant. These 13 year deals are such bush league. I know, with Pegula, it's benefited us, but c'mon, 10 years for Ehrhoff?) 4-no more salary arbitration. (Good, this is a out dated system anyways) 5- entry-level contract 5 years instead of 3. (brilliant again. 3 years for entry level is way too small. Tyler Ennis, who's ELC just ended, will probably get around $2.5 million per season. WHY? Based on what? Potential. 5 year entry level contracts, you'll need to earn it when your deal runs out. I believe the 46% is too low, though. But this is just the first proposal. I do think, 46% is closer to being accurate then the current 57%. But, something like 48-49% i think is what they will agree on. Other two things they are offering in this deal, is 22% salary rollback. While, i hate anyones salary to get cut, but, everyone will agree that hockey salaries have gotten out of control again. Also, a amnesty clause, similar to the NBA one. Each team can "cut" one player off their salary cap (but still must pay them the cash). Hmm... Leino?? This could be good... I will add, while a 5year entry level contract makes the most sense for the sport and teams, i fear it will hurt bringing in European players to the NHL. Joel Armia gets drafted, and he has to make $1.275 mil for 5 years? Seems unrealistic when he can make several million by that time by signing to play in Finland. This is a problem the NBA faces, as Europeans don't usually get drafted in the first round, but in the 2nd, because they remain in Europe for 2-5 years, to develop more and make serious cash. However, difference is, NBA doesnt rely on Euros, but the NHL does. Nah, we will. But opening night will be Wednesday, Thanksgiving eve.

Way too much. That's stupid money. I hope our front office isn't that dumb.

Awesome! Thanks.

Besides statues, what else will be in this alumni plaza?

No thanks to Morrow. His body is banged up to the max. He always has given his all and at age 33, there just isn't much left. Lots of wear and tear.

It appears Doan is close to picking the San Jose Sharks... http://www.mercurynews.com/sharks/ci_21039246/phoenix-coyotes-captain-shane-doan-eyeing-sharks

I don't know where i heard or read it, but this is exactly it. Someone wrote/said on radio that Shane Doan is exactly the player that Terry Pegula would want to build his team around, and that is so true. If Doan gives us a fair chance, and allows us to convince him of coming here, we will be one of the final teams on his list, if not the team he picks. Steve Ott even said in an interview that just minutes to talking with the Sabres he was impressed about our passion for having a winner. We all know Pegula is all about family and so is Doan. I have a good feeling about this. The only thing that hurts us, is a 35 year old may not be easily convinced that a team coming off a non playoff season is a serious contender to win the Cup, and winning a Cup is very important to him, as it should be.

Exactly. It wasn't a secret that this class wasn't very good to begin with. As boring as it has been, i'm just glad that Parise and Suter didn't chose Detroit and/or Pittsburgh. Kinda cool seeing a little market enjoy their .15 seconds of fame for once and not just the large markets.

Remember that one comedian who used to post on Sabrespace? His name was Greg, and he started one of his skits one time with a Greg...Oreo... joke. It was hilarious. Anyone remember that?? lol I wonder what ever happened to that guy?

Soccer (Football) ~ Everything About The Beautiful Game
Two or less replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
The US world cup is still the most attended World Cup of all time. I don't think that record will break, until USA hosts is a second time. -
Every fan proposed lines has Marcus Foligno listed, just as we all had Luke Adam listed this time last year. Seeing what kind of sophomore slump Myers, Ennis and how Luke Adam struggled last season with higher exceptions, i don't think Sabres are going to be very eager to hand Foligno anything without him earning it. My crazy prediction is, he will start in Rochester, but will be the first call-up.

I don't know what this classifies as, rumor? Speculation? I have no idea who this guy is, and if he has any credibility whats so ever, but someone send me this article and said he's been right before so what the heck... judge for yourselves... http://www.queencitysports.net/2012/07/06/who-is-the-northwest-teams-buffalo-is-talking-to/

Cant get this out of my head ALL day today.

I think it's Lieuwen's job to lose. I'd guess Knapp goes to Gwinnett.

Sabres sign Mark Mancari for the Amerks today. per the D@C and Bill Hoppe.
-
Yeah, but Gerbe has shown he can not play at that high intensity game for a long consistent time. He wears and tires out easily because he's so small. In college it was more workable with games on weekends, but in the daily NHL grind Gerbe just can't do it. I know many people love him, because he has the biggest heart and is always the last one off the ice at practice, but at some point, the team will need to realize he just isn't a very good everyday hockey player. Six goals for Gerbe is just unacceptable. He needs to play high intensity and score 15-20 goals to be a successful NHL player. I just don't see it.
-
What has he shown that would make you want to keep him? He's horrible offensively, and he is soft. He was lazy and soft when he came down to play with the Amerks. If the Sabres can find someone who still rates him high, you cant hesitate to trade him.
-
Um not he didn't, and i posted a link to the actually tweet, not sure how that confused you... ?
-
That's why it makes no sense why he'd be flying in (for hockey reasons). I think minor players like this get done over the phone. But, two years ago he had decent numbers in the NHL, not just minors or college. 14 goals, 11 assists and 126 hits in 74 games with Colorado.

Free agent center Kevin Porter tweets.... Maybe he's visiting friends/family? Or maybe he's coming to sign a contract? lol

NHL Source Says is a Eklund wanna be. Don't put any trust into it.

I honestly think there will be no trades (of the big players) until Parise signs. Once Parise signs, i think things will start to move a bit quickly. About the Nash list, as i posted here last night, his penciled in list of teams is the dumbest, none news story ever. Regehr didn't want to come here either. He just listed winning teams, like any other 28 year old who's played for a garbage team would. If Sabres convince him they want to be winners, he'll pencil us in too. And from recent history, Sabres do a great job promoting the fact we want to win the Stanley Cup. For what it's worth, I never heard of Luc Gelinas until this past Nash rumor, but his account seems legit, and he has 21k followers. But, Renaud Lavoie is one of the best on twitter at breaking stuff. He actually breaks many Sabres stories first too.
