  1. I enjoyed this pod a lot too. One of my thoughts from listening to this was when Elliott mentioned Rick Dudley and Scott Luce as possible people to join the staff. Dudley still lives currently in Lewiston. I don't think someone like Elliott throws names out there for no reason. I think these two are guys who are very much on the Sabres radar. The reason why it's interesting to me is, because all the talk is how thin the Sabres will go and how poor the Pegula's are, but both of these guys are very highly respected in the league, have an amazing track record and would cost a lot of $$ to bring them out of their current roles on their teams to come here. I'm probably in the minority here but i want the Pegula's involved. Maybe not be the ones who call the shots, who call GMs and agents, but to be "woke". All season long, all i've heard on social media is how they stopped caring after buying the Bills and how they never come to games anymore (which is not true), basically labeling them as absentee owners. Now, info comes out that they are NOT absentee owners and actually involved, people have issues with it too. My concern always is, if you have a GM like Botterill (before he was fired) coming back for a fourth season after three very poor seasons, you'd almost have to be an absolute idiot to think he was returning stressfree and having full confidence from ownership. What stops him from say trading UPL and Pekar for a 3rd liner and then trading the first round pick and Borgen for another player, basically tossing up a hail mary to save his job, knowing that at this point it's playoffs or bust for him. They make playoffs, he survives, they miss the playoffs, he's fired anyways so why should he care about the pipeline? Like fans, the owners remain with the club long after the dust settles. Players and management comes and goes. I sure hope Pegula's are asking "wait a minute, this seems odd, you sure this is for the best interest of the Sabres?"
  2. Krueger had Taylor on his bench to start the NHL season. He held a week long seminar with all coaches last summer to have everyone on the same page and keeps in touch with Taylor about players during the season. Adams said he will rely on Krueger a lot. To me, this seems like it was more Ralph's idea then some kind of savage move by Adams or the Pegulas. I obviously have no idea, but it's fun to speculate. One name of interest for me for the Amerks job is Cory Stillman. Played with Adams in Carolina, then went to be a development coach in Florida before accepting a gig as director of player development with Carolina, where he held the job for several years and worked a lot with their prospects, then leaving that job to be the head coach of Sudbury in the OHL, where he's been very successful. Yeah Taylor has a guaranteed contract but it expires on June 30th.
  3. I think you're being a bit too dramatic. Taylor was a good coach but let's not act like he was the next coming. The Amerks under Taylor had one of the highest payrolls in the AHL. They filled that roster up with veterans. It was a team build to win in that league and not because Taylor was the coach. When Taylor was in Buffalo last season while Granato was sick, Dineen-led Amerks were something like 9-3-3. 120 wins looks great, but in the two playoff series they were 0-6. Not a single victory. Lance in the buffalo news writes that last season the Amerks had 8 players who combined to make $5.1 million but neither of them scored over 15 goals and Taylor still claimed those guys had big roles even though they weren't scoring. The Amerks were a team with priority to win any way they could, to pad Taylor's resume for him to pack his bags and go to the NHL. Completely fine because that was the philosophy of Botterill and Sexton to build a winner in the AHL with vets and teach the prospects winning culture that was, but Adams has clearly said that is not how he sees to use the AHL. It's priority will be player development.
  4. theyre not broke. Relax.
  5. To all you on the front lines. Thank you
  6. Good luck! Wishing for all the best.
  7. You’re reaching hard here. Cmon.
  8. A player that is also interesting to me is Jack Quinn. Right winger playing for the Ottawa 67's in the OHL. Smart player, has a mean game and likes to drop his gloves at times, but is a absolute lethal goal scorer. 34 goals in 40 games this season, 16 in his last 12 games played. Kid is on beast mode right now.
  9. I've felt Frolik has been pretty good in both of these back to back wins, tonight and against Vegas on Tuesday night. Same. Lazar gives his all each shift. Absolutely love watching him play hockey.
  10. I like Zary a lot more then many of the prospects in this draft beside the top 7. Think i would even take him over Lundell. Kid is a super smart player, high hockey IQ, plays a 200 foot game, and has excellent hands and a killer whist shot. Has been a scoring machine his entire life. Exactly. Not sure why people would be terrified over? Same concerns fans had last year when people said we wouldn't even consider any of the CHL players and only were looking at the US kids and Boldy was a name constantly mentioned.
  11. Yup, and fwiw, Jordan Binnington also played a full season in the ECHL after leaving junior hockey. He played 40 games for Kalamazoo.
  12. Where's Hutton going?
  13. Same. And let him fire the coach.
  14. What was the reason he was born in Montana? Any idea?
  15. Rossi is a kid who i absolutely love. He's risen so much in the last year and continues to climb. Very impressive player. High IQ. Sabres would be very lucky to get a player like that IMO.
  16. Yeah it does, if the NYR want to be a charity and give him up for CJ Smith, then i'm all in. But they're not. Yeah, he's played at a higher level, but both have had good paths and neither of them have really accomplished anything yet. If you're trading for Georgiev, you're trading for potential or for what he may still do. We don't even know if Georgiev is an upgrade over Ullmark?
  17. In that case Georgiev hasn't proven anything yet either. So you're willing to trade assets we don't have for him? FWIW, i forget where i read it, the team to watch for Georgiev is the Toronto Maple Leafs.
  18. Not sure why the Sabres would be interested with UPL on his way.
  19. Thats not recent. It's from 2018 when Buffalo hosted the WJC fwiw.
  20. I'm not a hockey scout by any means, just a fan who loves to watch too much hockey, but beside Lafreniere, i think Lucas Raymond is the next best player in this draft, and thats not a knock on Byfield or Holtz. I think Raymond has super star potential. The Swedish Patrick Kane.
  21. Used to come to my mind once in a while, even though deep down i knew it was very unlikely, but with the Pegula's owning the team, i never even think of it anymore.
  22. I think if the Sabres wanted to flip Mittelstadt for Andersson they would certainly do it. Mittelstadt has a much higher offensive upside. On HNIC last night, they mentioned NYR would try to get something going with the Oilers and Jesse Puljujarvi, another top draft pick who has struggled but this one will be spending the rest of the season in Finland. Apparently Oilers are the ones hesitant dealing Puljujarvi for Andersson.
  23. Frolik sucks, but lets not pretend he wouldn't be better then several current Sabres. Girgensons, Erod and for half the season Vesey. And reports did say Sabres were in for a top and bottom 6 forward.
  24. Guys, I’ve made it over the pond and now waiting for my connection to Rochester. Results didn’t go our way but I had such an amazing time! Stockholm blew me away with how beautiful it was. My friend Kyle and I closed down bars 4 times and we were up early to justify our drinking by site seeing and going to museums. To all I met it was quite an honor! I met so many amazing Swedish people in the week I was there. But essp Trettioatta, Modo, Woody and LTS. Hope everyone got home or will get home safe. Thanks again!!
  25. I’ve seen a ton of Tampa fans too.
