  1. wow how did they land that??
  2. Obviously small sample size but if it was true that he doesn't do well with young players or like to develop kids, i don't think he would've been on the staff to coach Team North America at the 2016 World Cup which was literally full of only kids, including Jack Eichel.
  3. They nearly made the playoffs this season. haha I'm a huge Tippett guy as well. In Dallas he had a offensive juggernaut and well he's considered a "demanding" coach, the star players always seem to love playing for him.... Mike Modano, Shane Doan, and Max Domi.
  4. Or Dallas and Stu Barnes? In all seriousness, i think Todd Richards is a pretty solid choice. Fills in all the blanks. NHL experience, good communicator, plays up tempo offensive style, and has a track record of running some really good power plays. I wouldn't say he would be on the top of my list but he's atleast interesting.
  5. welcome to the internet bigfatpuck, however something tells me he'll never be able to find his way back here again.
  6. I have not yet ordered mine. I'm waiting on my friend to see what days he wants to go but i'm almost certain i will be doing the 5th until the 11th. (Fly out 5th, in Sweden on the 6th^)
  7. Because Rolston wears gardening gloves at practice. Someone took a photo of him at this years frozen four and he still had them on, he had custom made gardening gloves.
  8. Would he bring Ron Rolston as an assistant? lol
  9. It's funny how you are out to point out Olofsson or Pilut for not playin a heavy game or whatever, but the players i have seen you mention so far Porter, Tenny and DOR, all have been trash in both the games. I get it, Porter scored today, doesn't excuse him from the rest of his shifts from the two games. The other player who has disappeared has been Redmond. You're focusing on the wrong guys im afraid.
  10. I would bet anything that Taylor isn't even in the conversation to be Sabres coach. He's just not good enough yet and can stay and build something in Rochester. Leafs kept Keefe in the AHL for four years now and theres some thinking they won't even let him speak with NHL clubs this summer.... and JB is gonna jump on a coach of two years with a current playoff record of 0-5? I'm confident to say not a chance.
  11. lol these are hot takes. Olofsson poured a lot into the game today. He failed to finish. Pilut was outstanding too. It's their first season in NA, they'll be okay. Saying they'll never win a Cup based on a few games in the AHL is as silly as it gets.
  12. I can't be Taylor as the next coach IMO. Jeremy White's secret twitter source ruled it out, that guy has been right a few times before. There isn't many leaks in this process but the one constant is experienced coach. Guy earlier in this thread wonders if Babcock is a good coach or if he just has talented teams? Whats to say that Taylor wasn't just given a good team? In reality, Taylor only has one good season to show for. Last season the Amerks were the luckiest team in the league constantly winning in OT or SO before getting their butts whooped to the Crunch in the first round. I just think Taylor needs more time to proof himself in the AHL. I think when they finally make a decision on a coach it'll be someone like Mike Yeo or Kevin Dineen who won't really excite the fanbase. Most of the recycled names are underwhelming unless Jon Cooper gets let go, but i highly doubt he would consider us.
  13. And he was already mentioned about a year ago by Friedman as a possible assistant coach candidate with the Sabres.
  14. Wasn't he on McDavid's wing in 2013-14 after he was traded to Erie? And scored 26 goals rest of the season and 12 in the playoffs?
  15. Sorry for all the back to back posts but anyhow, if Sabres decide to go defense with the second pick, i think two guys of interest should be Ryan Johnson, committed to University of Minnesota, is having a excellent season in the USHL. Good skater and high hockey IQ player. His father Craig played in the NHL and is mostly known for is he was traded by the Blues to the Kings in the Wayne Gretzky trade. The other player, who i think has fell from most first round mocks ive seen recently is Alex Vlasic, the cousin of M.E. Vlasic. He's a huge dude, but his skating is suspect and doesn't have much offense to his game. Similar to Mattias Samuelsson. He's unsure if he'll attend Boston University or play for the London Knights. And if we hire Todd McLellan, i wonder if they will give him another Vlasic to work with?
  16. For the US National U18 this season he scored a whooping 54 goals. Last years top scorer from that league Oliver Wahlstrom scored 48 goals (and he played more games then Cole). Caufield also broke Phil Kessel's all time goal record with the US national program. Kessel in his career scored 105 and Caufield scored 108. He's a pure goal scorer. Very good shot, quick release, smart player, does well with give-n-goes and creates a lot of offense and obviously finishes quite often. The issues with him are not only his size though (5'6) because small players like that have a greater chance then ever to play in the NHL, like Alex DeBrincat. The issue with Caufield beyond size is that he's pretty slow for a player his size/skill set. DeBrincat for example has very good acceleration and great speed. Caufield will need to work on that part of his game a lot. The other issue is that a lot of people are worried he's a product of a system. His primary center all season has been Jack Hughes. And if not Hughes, it's Zegras. Two of the best playmakers in this draft are his centers literally for the entire season. If you don't think he's a product of one of these centers and also think when he goes to Wisconsin and then join your team he will greatly improve his speed, then you pretty much are thinking he can become DeBrincat and thus not a reach at 7. However, i highly doubt anyone in the top 10 will look at him seriously. Don't forget how many goals Nic Baptiste was scoring when he played on Connor McDavid's wing.
  17. I meant the style of play.
  18. I'm not sold on him to be honest, as i posted earlier from watching him, but i don't think he will be there at 7. Some team will take him just based on his production this season, how well he skates for a guy 6'4 and his stick handling abilities. He's a player who they say lives and breaths hockey and any of the flaws in his games i would think teams will assume they can fix with some in-house development. If he hits his potential, he'll be one of the best players taken in this draft. All it takes is one team to fall in love with him and he'll be taken quickly.
  19. Same, but Dach would be my last of the 4. I'm not sure how i would rank the other three yet either. Zegras sometimes looks like he could be the next Brayden Point.
  20. There doesnt even seem to be a search. According to Jeremy White's secret twitter source and Mike Harrington, the Sabres approached Quenneville and he said no to them. It seems they are working very stealth. I would be shocked if there wasn't dialogue before this upcoming meeting. It just doesn't add up. I forget who said it, but i read somewhere that Botterill pretty much made up his mind after the Sabres got shutout 3 times in early March. I'd think they made a shortlist of people then and even chatted with him. When they heard Kings were closing in on McLellan, i think thats when the Sabres needed to bail on their original plan and make a move to get back in on McLellan. Just my theory. Also, i wonder if McLellan and Botterill even met in Buffalo? They could have met in Toronto.
  21. I've seen multiple people write that Botterill had no input from players before firing Housley. It's not what John Vogl said in the Athletic though. Link- https://theathletic.com/910829/2019/04/07/in-results-driven-business-jason-botterill-is-out-to-find-a-coach-who-can-get-them-after-phil-housley-firing/
  22. I'm 100% with you on everything you just wrote there.
  23. Sounds to me, you are in for AV. From a USA Today article-
  24. Yeah, i would think he'll be a hot name this summer for NHL openings. I've always heard he's been a respected coach and now hes coming off being Jon Cooper's asst from a historic regular season.
  25. Also coached the Amerks when they were with Florida while Sabres were up in Maine.
