  1. What I've liked most about Ullmark up to this point is that he saw an opportunity to grasp the starting role (even if it is temporary) and he did it. He had a shaky first game but looked real solid the next two. Like others, I agree he still needs time to develop and Rochester is the best place for him when Lehner gets back. We also learned that when Johnson was given the same opportunity he totally blew it. Hopefully this was a wake up call and he can work himself into a reliable back-up role for the rest of the season. Because if Lehner goes down again, and Ullmark keeps playing this well, it should be an easy decision to keep starting him over Johnson. It will be interesting to see who Disco Dan plays on Thursday after having a few days off.

  3. Evander Kane had a great game and I'm surprised more people aren't talking about it. He doesn't hesitate to chase down the puck and throw a big hit on the forecheck. And when he does lay the body on, he doesn't take himself out of the play. Plus he isn't afraid to throw the puck on net if other options aren't there. The Kane-Eichel combo is going to terrorize defenses this year.
  4. It will be interesting to see what the market rate for a goaltender is - if it turns out that Lehner is out for an extended period of time. It looks like there are several teams with NHL caliber goalie assets in their organizations. http://news.nationalpost.com/sports/nhl/the-nhls-supply-of-starting-goaltenders-exceeds-demand-i-dont-think-expansion-can-come-quick-enough-for-goalies
  5. You're welcome! :flirt: At this point if RJ and his lovely wife are healthy, and the Sabres are competitive, I think this is the case. RJ seems like he truly enjoys the game, and he has a great seat to one of the best sports in the world for a team he loves. When they aren't a good team, he says it. When they are a good team, the man gets excited.
  6. I can't wait to hear him say "...and Eichel with the SHAAAUGHT...HE SCORESSS!!!!"
  7. I've been great, but the Sabre's haven't :flirt: There isn't much to talk about during rebuilding years besides draft picks and who you hope they don't trade when the team's good again; so instead I've just been laying low. But now I'm definitely excited about watching the Sabs score some goals this season. Sabre's have 4 solid top six forwards (Kane, Moulson, Ennis, O'Reilly), 3 elite prospects that could produce (Girgs, Reinhart, Eichel), and some great role players in Foligno, Gionta, Deslauriers, and Legwand that will give you a consistent effort every night. I'm hoping Gorges is 100% healthy on the blue line, and they make one more move to get a #3-4 defensemen.
  8. He is a exceptional playmaker and does a great job of moving the puck up and around the ice to get his team into scoring position. For me, that is where most of his potential lies. Hopefully he gets to play with on a line with a sniper or two so he can showcase his game and we can get a good read on his improvement (against NHL'rs) from last year.
  9. I like Andrew Peters as a person, but he was a boring fighter. Grab, hold, maybe fire 2 punches, and then someone falls down. Brad May or Bobby B should have made this list over Peters.
  10. Infringement festival is running all week in Buffalo. Most shows are free, including the Anti-Warped Tour 2, a block party with 20+ bands playing from 11am to 9pm. Check it out and support your local musicians http://artvoice.com/issues/v12n30/infringement_2013
  11. The new skating engine does a couple things: 1) If you skate in a straight line your guy gets an auto speed burst 2) The physics engine will not allow you to stop or turn on a dime anymore 3) For manual speed burst you only have to click L3 once 4) You can hold the LT and your guy can skate backwards for more realistic player movement The changes are long overdue, but the only one I don't like is #1. In the demo it seems like a cheesy arcade move. I think they will end up fixing it or modifying it during the first couple of tuner updates.
  12. Best Barb-Q in WNY is One Eyed Jacks in Lockport. The pulled pork is amazing.
  13. I don't know if Philly is going to be able to score 3 goals against Miller since the play will probably be in there end most of the night, again.
  14. If Biron is such a great goalie then why isn't Darcy's phone ringing off the hook? Miller is obviously the #1 guy all the way and Mika should be #2 instead of sitting idle. Biron would be long gone if teams thought he could be a top 10 goalie.
