Ooooooooooohhhh. That is a good one.

OK, so Hickey is a defenseman who just graduated (let's hope!) from BU after playing what looks like 4 years in a full-time role, presumably top-3 D or higher, for a very good college program (I found it kinda interesting that he's from Edmonton but decided to play NCAA hockey, btw). He is 6'2", 201 and turned 22 two months ago. He was named team captain for his senior year and made honorable mention all-conference in a very good conference. This is a year old and is Flames official site propaganda, but still somewhat worthwhile IMHO: https://www.nhl.com/flames/news/flames-top-prospects---brandon-hickey/c-289877112 And here's Dobberhockey (a good fantasy hockey site) on Hickey: https://dobberprospects.com/brandon-hickey-2-2 He looks like another young guy who can skate and has potentially a good 2-way game who is here to fight for a spot in the D rotation. If they sign him, even if he later washes out, that's as much as you could reasonably ask for in return for Fasching at this point. OTOH, if Fasching turns into another Taylor Pyatt, GoDD may re-enlist under a fake name.

"Otto" is also officially endorsed.

Wouldn't the Sabres be paying Karlsson for 9 years -- i.e. the 1 remaining on his current contract plus an 8-year extension? Karlsson just turned 28 a couple of weeks ago -- so the Sabres would be paying him until within a few days of his 37th birthday (assuming the Sabres make a deep playoff run that last year -- which as we all know is a rock-solid assumption). You'd sure want to feel like he would be high-end Karlsson for the 1st 5 years or so -- and not that his foot/ankle will get a bit worse every year so that he's really impaired in year 3.

"UPL" is officially an endorsed abbreviation.

If -- and it's a major if -- Karlsson signs an extension with the Sabres AND the Sabres achieve a high level of confidence about Karlsson's achilles, I would gladly offer the following package for him: ROR #32 this year SJ's #1 in 2019 Guhle or McCabe Nylander Not sure that moves the needle enough for Ottawa though.

When you stay up boozing with an old friend from out of town until 2:00 AM but the alarm still goes off at the regular time...
-
Lidstrom was a great player for longer, but Forsberg at his peak was freaking transcendent and very close to Gretzky, Messier and Mario.
-
Beat me to it. Forsberg is #1 on the list.
-
I think Brawndo has it right here -- and that he is much closer to their caliber than any of the other TBN alumni.
-
Another one bites the dust: Tim Graham is leaving per twitter.
-
I agree that the turnover ratio will regress to the mean, but I also think the D will be better, and perhaps much better. As for Josh Allen: I am all in. He's going to be great.

Oh you little minx.

...or the GWG in OT in the best Sabres game of all time. Briere's goal was in 2OT IIRC. And Briere was as clutch as Drury. Thanks again, OSP and LQ.

Well, Yakupov went #1 not long ago, as did Anthony Bennett in the NBA.
-
These kids today. But everyone should read the link that Duda posted in the other thread. Even though it was probably written by Liger, it will still get you psyched for Dahlin.

That loss really hurt. I’m not sorry for not rewatching it.
-
40 pts and consensus best D of his generation. Go big or go home.
-
Whoa.
-
What if you think about the question this way: Team X offers a really good package for either Reino or ROR, with the Sabres choosing whom to part with? Which one do you keep? I'd keep ROR, but it's not a slam dunk.

That is awesome.
