This is an optimistic take, but I generally agree with the key points regarding age, athleticism, contract and not trading him unless there is a really compelling offer/other reason.

This may have been my best-ever Sabrespace prediction.

ROR has the Sabres' dysfunctional stink all over him. He's a slow skater in a fast league that is getting faster and he has 5 years left on a fat contract. And if our speculation about him asking for a trade is right, he will have forced his way off of 2 teams. I could certainly be wrong, but I think you're looking at a #1 pick in the teens plus a good prospect and/or a below-all-star-level roster player and that's it.

I'll say it again: this board is well overrating ROR's market value. The Sabres aren't going to get close to #3 overall for him.
