Speculation: Small Market NHL Teams Could Fold, Sabres are one of them
nfreeman replied to Theana745's topic in The Aud Club
The bolded is simply false. The cap is adjusted each year based on the previous year's revenues. Since revenues for this year are going to fall, the cap will fall too. -
And yet you invoked Liger, who freely uses that term and others. Tell me: before any of the multiple times you accused me of bias, did you look through the thread and consider the political leanings of all of the posts that weren't moved? Did you count those and weigh that total against the total number of posts you objected to? Did you factor in the number of posts that were moved, and break down the political leanings of those posts? Did you factor in the overall political leanings of the board? Did you do any type of analysis at all before making the accusations? Or did you just see a post you didn't like, assume that the reason it wasn't moved must be bias, and then blast away? It's lazy, it's destructive and it's offensive. And a hearty thank you sir for stirring up this particular poopstorm!

We've been over this multiple times. If I say that I don't choose the posts to be moved based on political views, and you say "yes, you do" -- you're calling me a liar. It's not OK.
-
As always, if either of you, or anyone else, thinks a post should be moved, all you need to do is point out the particular post. The ad hominem attack is gratuitous and, regrettably, not new. When you call me or anyone else a liar in this manner, you are, as it happens, manifesting a blind spot to your own poor behavior, since this of course is not how people should converse. You are also demonstrating your inability to engage in a conversation that is even peripherally related to politics without falling into such behavior -- which of course is why such conversation should stay in the politics club.

It's been moved.

Speculation: Small Market NHL Teams Could Fold, Sabres are one of them
nfreeman replied to Theana745's topic in The Aud Club
I think the percentage of NHL ticket-buyers who will not be adversely affected by the current economic convulsion is quite low, and that there is a significant percentage of people who ordinarily buy tickets and will not be able to do so next season. -
Speculation: Small Market NHL Teams Could Fold, Sabres are one of them

I think the point is that most people's incomes are likely to drop due to the current economic dislocation, which will make $300+ outings to hockey games less affordable. -
Moved some posts to the politics club.

Montreal Trades Marco Scandella to STL for 2nd and Conditional 4th.
nfreeman replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
So, STL just gave Scandy a 4-year, $13.1MM extension. In other words, the reigning SC champs liked Scandy enough to give up a 2nd-rounder and a 4th-rounder, AND make a significant contractual commitment to him. Meanwhile, JB thought he was only as good as Frolik. JB must go. -
I blame OSP. It sounds like the Drury contract was agreed and then sat on his desk for over a month while he hemmed and hawed. That's not LQ's fault. LQ might've been the visionary though who decided the Sabres didn't need Briere because they had Roy and Connolly. Separately, IMHO there is no real debate here regarding the OP. Darcy had real NHL accomplishments along with plenty of mistakes and a lousy end to his career, while the other 2 have royally crapped the bed while accomplishing less than what a SabreSpace GM committee would've accomplished.

Here's a very minor item that has nevertheless annoyed me for about 6 years: my coffeemaker, which is a $30 Mr. Coffee model, makes good coffee but the carafe has a cheapo plastic collar that is poorly designed such that when pouring water or coffee, it leaks literally every single time. In addition, the carafe itself is made of cheap, flimsy glass -- and it broke last night when I put it in the sink. I can get an exact replacement from amazon in 1 week, or a universal replacement carafe that doesn't have the plastic collar and looks like it won't leak -- but that one will take 3 weeks. Or I can get a new coffeemaker for anywhere between $25 and $200, but that seems wasteful. First world problems, to be sure, but I'm working at home for the foreseeable future and I need (and enjoy) coffee in the morning.

IMHO it's crazy to pick anyone other than Drury for #2. I went with Peterson for #1.

PSE Announces Numerous Layoffs in Management Positions
nfreeman replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Holy mackerel there are a ton of conclusions being jumped to in here, pretty much none of which is remotely justified. Although I regretfully agree with @dudacek that it seems less likely that JB is going to get canned now. -
I just read that Sweden is pretty much the only country that has not shut down schools and businesses and instead has essentially decided to get everyone infected, take their casualties and get it over with, on the theory that this way they will develop herd immunity and be able to resume normal life more quickly. Their fatality rate is substantially higher than that of most other countries, although not as bad as Italy or Spain.
-
I agree that he miscalculated, but I think the miscalculation was in overrating his other forwards, not in underrating Larsson or Zemgus. I also think that Asplund and Lazar will competently replace Larsson and Zemgus, so I think that JB -- whom I'm ready to fire yesterday -- will be vindicated on this one.

Interesting. So you created a bed of sand and are just laying down the patio stones in the sand? Did you remove the gravel from that area before creating the bed of sand?
-
This sounds great but I'm kinda skeptical as to whether it actually happened. Is there any data on this? i.e. data showing that when Larsson's line was matched up against other teams' top lines, Larsson's line outscored those lines? Or for that matter data showing that Larsson's line held other teams' top lines below their scoring averages?

GDT: April 13th. 8PM. Sabres at Senators (5/5/2006)
nfreeman replied to Zamboni's topic in The Aud Club
If it's game 1, it's the best Sabres game of this millenium. -
Why don't you just post it in the politics club and stop complaining?

Jeanneret predicts that he will retire after next season.
nfreeman replied to Eleven's topic in The Aud Club
Thanks. Was that a tweet, or did he say that on the air? (And if the latter, did you have it memorized??) -
Connolly and Batman. Connolly at his peak -- which we got very little of due to injury -- was an all-star-level, 200-foot player and clearly better than the others listed in the style category. Batman for retro appeal, although the others listed are all fine choices.

Good man and good wife!

So it’s probably going to be Dunleavy, right? Meh.
