  1. I agree with this. I'd rather not make a knee jerk hire just to appease the fans. If Pegula and the Execs commit themselves to moving away from Ruff at seasons end, than do a proper search and hire the right man, with the right experience & system for this job. You aren't going to be able to grab the best hire during mid-season. This team is not making the playoffs this season no matter who is behind the bench. They are too far behind and every game is practically a 3 point Eastern conference game... (unless you are Buffalo who tend to lose alot in regulation).
  2. I'm actually starting to feel a little bad for Miller. Kinda' like i did for Hasek when i knew he "should" win a cup in his career but knew he'd never do it in Buffalo. I'm ok if they trade Miller to a contender at some point while he is still good enough. A shame he will not win anything here. This Sabres club is a few years from contending at the very least.
  3. I'd like to know over the last two seasons how many times the Sabres have lost in regulation when they were tied in the 3rd or had a 3rd period lead? It feels like an inordinate amount of times. You HAVE to find a way to get these kind of games to OT. At least get a point. So frustrating they find a way to lose in regulation...AGAIN!

    This team stinks

Better game last night by the boys...they probably deserved a point or two. The game of hockey always evens out. They should have lost on the Island and won, they played well enough to win last night and lost....always evens out. The problem is that Buffalo put out maximum effort and still took an L. They just aren't a very good team. I'm not rooting for them to lose out but it might be best for the franchise to crater this season and look to re-tool next season...hopefully with a new coach.
  5. Not a bad effort by the boys tonight. We've seen soooo much worse. Anderson > Miller...and that's not a knock on Miller. It just is.

    This team stinks

To put it bluntly, this 2013 Sabres team is one of the worst looking teams in the past several years. They look slow and tired, except for just a couple guys. They don't know how to forecheck and keep the puck in the offensive zone. They allow every opponent to cycle them to death in the defensive zone. They give up numerous point blank chances and odd man rushes, inexplicably while trying to play better defensively. So if your defensive gameplan is to collapse deep and give up chance after chance, and hope Miller is on top of his game...then they are executing brilliantly. The Buffalo Sabres look like the worst team in the NHL. Out of the first 13 games, there has only been maybe 2 games where the ice hasn't been tilted towards the Sabres end. If you can't fire all the players, they better get a new coach and system.
  7. Penalties notwithstanding, hate seeing buffalo getting dominated at home like this. Too bad for Miller. Not his fault.
  8. Should never be outshot that much by the Isles. Thanks Miller for stepping up and stealing one but there's something seriously wrong with the Sabres.
  9. The Sabres flight is leaving for JFK soon. Getting in won't be a problem. Getting out of NY will be dicey tomorrow night. http://flightaware.c...e/flight/BSK397
  10. What a joke. They dont deserve a losers point.
  11. Easily the worst Sabres club we've seen in years, including goaltending.
  12. Why is it so hard for Buffalo to forecheck and cycle? If score was reversed montreal would be all over us.
  13. Aw, Vanek just missed on that perfect deflection again.
  14. Omg, this is amazing. They damn well might get Lindy fired, lol. After losing tonight the drama and pressure cooker will really intensify. Oh and Miller is sooooo on the downslope of his career, sorry to say. Every goalie outplays our guy. Cant even sustain pressure when the sabres are desperate.
  15. As soon as we blew our 5 on 3 i knew Montreal would get one and cash in. Refs always even up the 5 on 3's. Montreal is just a better overall club, plus they should be tired from last night.
  16. Sabres are on Long Island Sat night and they are not exactly out of the woods for this storm either....winds predicted to gust 55 mph and snow. have fun flying in and out of there boys. If the Bruins Sat afternoon game is postponed, i imagine they fly to Buffalo ahead of the storm and be nice and rested for the Sabres game Sunday eve.
  17. I can't think of a more boring team to watch in the NHL other than Buffalo. The Boston game was the exception. I mean 20 shots on goal..at home...vs Florida?? desperation 3rd period and they get like 4 shots and get dominated?!? swept by Carolina and Washington over a 4 day span when neither team had a victory?!? i feel like they've been dominated in most games...even the games they won. The Sabres are officially the early 2000 version of Islanders and Thrashers. I hate to say it. Hockey heaven has turned into hockey hell. Gotta change the coach, need a new voice...it can't get any worse. I will still watch though, lol
  18. Goals 2 & 3 were all on Enroth imo. He looks very small in net. Overall the Sabres looked ok except the goalie. He can't make a big save and this will be a game we score 4 goals and lose. Amazing, we have turned into the mid-2000 Islanders or Thrashers. Teams see Buffalo on the schedule and they circle a W.
  19. I like Hamilton, but he's not inside a person's head. Darcy may not WANT to fire Lindy but if the big man thinks a change is needed, a change will be made. WHen you self-title a place as hockey heaven, you have to be willing to make changes for the better. Pegula is not an idiot.
  20. I agree. I was a huge Lindy Ruff fan for many years. It started waning a couple season ago... It's time folks, it's time. Pegula did not get rich by sticking with the status quo. He might not be saying it publicly, but he is probably thinking what we are all thinking. This team was embarassing in Montreal. They got flat out dominated in the 3rd period at home vs. bottom feeder Florida. These trends are carrying over from last year. Lindy's time as heach coach is nearing an end.
  21. Well yeah, it's clear the Sabres are fielding one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference. If this were the football team (Bills)...fans would be clamoring to "lose out" and get the #1 overall pick and a new coaching staff. On paper i really thought the Sabres would be a top 8 club, but when you watch they are not even close. The fact that they are almost exactly repeating last season's start (pro rated against this shorter season) tells me this isn't a fluke. They are about as easy a team to play against in the entire NHL and they have absolutely ZERO home ice advantage, which is sad.
  22. I'm not getting why you'd be upset with Pegula? You know the guy wants to win more than all of us combined. Giving Darcy an extension is curious but i'm not sure i blame the GM here. They have some talented players. They got a 1st rounder for Goose. The Ott trade and Hodgson look ok so far. They have talent here. If they underachieve again this season, I'd like to see Pegula make a move to change the coach. Offer Lindy a front office position if he wants to stay in Buffalo.
  23. Hey Mr. Pegula, if the sole reason for existence is to win the Cup, how does it feel to miss the playoffs 2 years in a row? That's where they're headed. Something is missing from this team. Miller's name is larger than his level of play. They pick 6 goalies for the All-Star game...he's not even capable of making that game. I agree about Ruff, his system has gotten stale. Something about his style is stifling players on this club. They are supposed to be "harder" to play against this year but I have not seen the Sabres really dominate any game. They are hanging in there most nights but just like always, can't get the big goal to put a game away, and don't get the big save to preserve a lead. We're right there with the Leafs, Jets, Panthers and Isles. Definitely not a solid playoff team...AGAIN.
  24. SO glad we could oblige Carolina and Washington and allow both teams to get of the schneid. It's just a simple matter of the opponents "wanting" it more. I suspect Toronto on Tuesday night will also want revenge and want it more. Once again, like last year the Sabres cannot get these games to OT and at least get the point. My expectations have been lowered from maybe a 7-8 seed to missing the playoffs again. Oh well. I guess i should be happy NHL hockey is back.
