  1. I though Sabrespace would enjoy the read https://torontosun.com/news/local-news/toronto-maple-leafs-fans-voted-nhls-most-annoying-most-delusional
  2. I guess I expect the worst from Putin's Russia. Haven't heard any other problems.... Yet
  3. That changes everything.. Russian hockey players will have defect like the olden days. I wouldn't draft a Russian that isn't already out of the country I wouldn't be surprised if this news sends a signal to Russian Athletes and they start trying to get out in advance. On a positive note this can't be good for most of the Russian population who I guess won't be happy seeing their sons drafted for Putin's war.
  4. No surprises here, I fail to see this precluding them from trying to sign another Goalie... Actually expected this.
  5. Adams can not afford to put all his eggs in the UPL basket kind of like he did with Ullmark last off season. Adams is learning that lesson. Hopefully this translates in an improved G pipeline, as well as signing someone of significance to man the pipes.
  6. Grossly overpaying a UFA comes with term, No move or no trade clauses, and if it doesn't worked out we screw ourselves again. We can probably sign a couple middle UFA's with vet experience or change of scenery upside players that won't break any banks, and keep our core intact. Trading for a solid player entering their prime requires sacrificing assets, plus signing them to term which will include no move and no trade clauses. We just built up a decent core after years of trading away assets to speed up the rebuild. Don't want to go backwards... Bishop is a one and done contract, we lose nothing and we will still be able to sign our own core over the next few years. We can still sign players they just won't be overpaid FA's or players that require us to trade assets to acquire. When we prove we can play consistently (full season) with the core we got and make the playoffs then I can see an aggressive move(s) to push us over the top.
  7. Doesn't change the fact that no prized UFA's are coming here unless we grossly overpay, and majority of young heading into their prime RFA's are not going to get traded by their teams. Even if we grossly overpay, I'd bet the farm prized FA's will be looking for contenders, even at a lesser price tag now, rather than helping a franchise become and eventual contender. So what does that leaves us. 2nd level past their prime players who can be good mentors on short term, or lower level players that might just need a change of scenery on short term prove it contracts. We might see moves like that I don't see the need to rush anything. Yes there will come a time we will pursue top players, but it just isn't this year. I imagine there will be some additions but it will probably be more roll players bottom 6 types while this core continues to cement the top 2 lines. Goalie is the 1 place where efforts need to be made, but again we will only get interest from the 2nd tier group.
  8. The ONLY move they have to make is a Goalie. This year is all about letting our young core continue to build chemistry. No choice FA's are coming here, and were not giving up any of our core assets in trade IMO unless its for a young player entering their prime with upside. Those are not easy to come by and cost multiple assets We may take on more salary on a 1 year rental player but that should not cost us a any assets. IMO the team we have now, minus the G need, has to push for the playoffs cause if this core team can't take it up one more notch this year then we don't have the core we thought.
  9. I'll counter with a 3rd rd pick and you thank us for taking salary off your team
  10. I wouldn't kick Kane off the ice for eating crackers, but I would not give up 1st rd picks or players with a future here to acquire him either. If Kane is to come here, it's because we are doing Chicago a favorite by taking salary off their cap. I'd throw them a 2nd rd pick maybe some pocket change but I'm not given away anything substantial to obtain his services
  11. Nope... I'm going turn down the TV real low or just continue what I am doing.
  12. actually I think it was "Have another doughnut, you fat pig"
  13. One of my favorite Schoenfeld moments "Eat another Doughnut"
  14. I like the late round pick philosophy. Get some late round players in Rochester on 2 way deals. Worst case scenario you got decent talent in the minors. Best case scenario they prove to be good call up options or maybe one of them exceeds expectations and sticks with the Sabres
  15. its easier to play soccer in a poor country then it is to play hockey in poor country, or any sport that requires a lot of equipment to play. Hence the world's infatuation with Soccer. It's more accessible
  16. Not enough action, No fast enough, or physical enough to keep my interest. Most games are too low scoring. But I did not grow up playing it, or having it be of interest to me as a kid. Basically Hockey is soccer on ice IMO, but ticks all the boxes of being fast, physical, with more scoring.
  17. Love to have him back in the system competing. He has some work to do He's a player I think that can flourish in Granato's system IMO. He also is a trade piece possibility.
  18. Pictures like these are why fans think Jack is on the Peruvian marching powder
  19. I think those internet measurements are old. They haven't been updated in a while
