  1. This would still leave them with 4 picks in the first 3 rounds this year, FYI. I do that deal right now.
  2. There's a lot of stuff in there that individually is nice. All together its disturbing.
  3. "Do you enjoy a vague sense of unease permeating throughout your entire existence? While we've got the house for you!"
  4. Yeah, after reading that article and the wiki page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtis_occidentalis#Cultivation_and_uses) they're welcome to it, haha.
  5. Counter-point: this was the PERFECT year to do this. The "OMG they haven't made the playoffs in X years" narrative is gone. They can afford to miss this year. and almost certainly will. They almost certainly would have if they had kept Taylor. They almost did last year WITH Taylor. They honestly SHOULDN'T have made it last year. But they got lucky, the cards fell the right way, and they got in. The fact that that scenario hadn't happened in 17 years is part of the miracle. They had that 700 pound gorilla dogging their every move. Every draft pick, free agent signing, coach/GM hiring/firing/hiring made people ask "BUT WILL THAT GET THEM INTO THE PLAYOFFS?!?". Now they can make moves for the long term, with that short term issue of "dear god just make the playoffs for once you dunces" not there to bother them. The team sucked last year. They were bad. They had no right to be in the playoffs. But they made it, I cried, and now that monkey is off their back. This is the best possible time for a full rebuild.
  6. Can't find the exact tweet, but there was one going around Buffalo sports twitter this morning that was essentially "I would rather have Tyrod than McCarron, but I'd rather have McCarron, #65, and $9m more in cap space than Tyrod." That sums up my opinion pretty well.
  7. I'd bet on most NFL players are "religious" in some form, like most politicians are. Its a part of the culture.
  8. A few years ago (maybe 10 now, I have lost all notion of time) you weren't able to talk to free agents before the new league year began. Teams still did, but technically it was tampering. They then put in this negotiation period, which is sometimes called the legal tampering period, where teams can talk to and negotiate with free agents but can't actually sign them until 4 PM today. All contracts run until the end of the league year, so until about 29 minutes ago, all of those free agents who deals have been struck with still belonged to their old teams. At 4PM the league year ended, and they could sign new contracts elsewhere. Trades are the same; the trade deadline happens in week whatever during the season (week 10 maybe?), and no trades can happen after that until the new league year begins. Again, 4PM today, the next season technically started, and all of those trades that were talked about can officially go through. Naw, this is akin to when a team hasn't signed a free agent on June 1st in the NHL and everyone is like "OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY DIDN'T SIGN ANYONE TO PLAY DEFENSE" even though free agency literally JUST started (officially)
  9. Think this is a Hughes replacement? EDIT: No, according to Joe B.
  10. My favorite page so far: https://www.barstoolsports.com/draft_josh_allen/stats.html
  11. Rosen(or Darnold if Browns go Rosen instead), Matt Moore, and Peterman. I'd be surprised if its something else.
  12. I really don't think its going to be Allen. They've been SO vocal about it. But we'll see where they move up too; if its outside the top 5 I'll believe its Allen. Other reason I doubt Allen is because they haven't bought it a real vet to start. Allen is going to need time, its not a big secret that he's raw.
  13. Only 100 bucks to get the drain pipe snaked, and they did it day of. Took about 15 minutes. CEF Plumbing if you're in the Buffalo area. What type of tree is that? Can you ship some of the wood up to Buffalo?
  14. Sal Cappaccio just tweeted out the "thinking" emoji. This is where the world is right now.
  15. To continue the "When to take a QB" conversation, lets try this. Using the drafts from 2005 to 2015, I'll list every QB taken. 3 ranks. **-hit, *-tweener/undecided, and nothing. Completely subjective, so tell me if I'm way off on someone. I'm setting Dalton as the bottom of the "hit" line. 2015 - Winston**,Mariota**,Grayson,Mannion,Petty,Hundley,Siemian* 2014 - Bortles*, Manziel,Bridgewater*,Derek Carr**, Jimmy Garoppolo*, Thomas,Savage, Murray,McCarron, Mettenburger, Fales,Wenning,Boyd,Gilbert 2013 - Manual, Smith, Glennon, Barkley, Nassib,Wilson,Jones,Sorenson,Dysert,Daniels,Renfree 2012 - Luck**,Griffin*,Tannehill*,Weeden,Osweiler,Wilson**,Foles*,Cousins**,Lindley,Coleman,Harnish 2011 - Newton**,Locker,Gabbert,Ponder,Dalton**,Kaepernick*,Mallet, Stanzi,Yates,Enderle,Tyrod*,McElroy 2010 - Bradford**,Tebow,Clausen,McCoy,Kafka,Skelton,Crompton,Smith,Lefavour,Webb,Pike,Brown,Canfield,Robinson 2009 - Stafford**,Sanchez*,Freeman,White,McGee,Bomar,Davis,Brandstater,Teel,Null.Painter 2008 - Ryan**,Flacco**,Brohm, Henne, O'Connell,Booty,Dixon,Johnson,Ainge,Brennan,Woodson,Flynn,Brink 2007 - Russel, Quinn, Kolb, Beck, Stanton,Edwards,Rowe,Smith,Palmer,Thigpen 2006 - Young*,Leinert,Cutler**, Clemens,Jackson,Whitehurst,Croyle,Martin,Jacobs,Gradkowski,Shockley, 2005 - Smith**,Rodgers**,Campbell*,Frye,Walter,Greene,Orton*,Lefors,Dorlovskey,McPhereson,Anderson,Cassel,Fitzpatrick* Some of those are tough calls. I had * on EJ and Geno Smith, but then when I put on on Tyrod I knew they didn't deserve it. God that draft year sucked. Griffin and Bradford were tough calls, too, though for opposite reasons. I didn't look at draft spots while I was doing it, but using my terrible rankings here's what I've got. Top 5 - 13 players, I have 61% as **, 92% as * or ** Top 10 - 16 players, I have 50% as **, 75% as * or ** First Round - 29 players, I have 34.5% as **, 62% as * or ** First Round after Top 5 - 16 players, I have 19% as **, 56% as * or ** First Round after Top 10 - 14 players, I have 21% as **, 43% as * or ** Entire Draft - 127 players, I have 11% as **, 20% as * or ** Entire Draft after Top-5, 114 players, I have 5% as **, 13% as * or ** Entire Draft after Top-10, 111 players, I have 6% as **, 12.5% as * or ** Its entirely possible I've missed a few guys when I was counting some of the percentages, but I think I got it right. It took me about 5 times longer to put together the numbers than it did to pick my rankings. Significant drop offs after the Top-5. Using these rankings, though, you're weirdly better picking after 10 rather than between 5 and 10, but there were some solid busts in there (Leinart and Locker).
  16. So you want to fill holes in the team by drafting 3 quarterbacks late instead of one early? I don't think that's helpful
  17. After thinking about it, I hate that definition, haha. Too many bad teams starting bad QB's to make it work.
  18. Its hard to define anyway, honestly. Is Flacco a hit? Is Andy Dalton? People on here have trashed Cam Newton, but tell me he wouldn't have been the best Bills QB in two decades. There are probably, what, 10 guys in the league right now who are absolute hits? After that it starts to get muddled. I think I want to use the same definition for the top of the draft as the rest, in this case, though. Either you got a winner or you didn't. Maybe the line, if it can be quantifiable in any way, is something like "Was the unquestioned starter for their team after their rookie contract was up".
  19. The Sabres fan base, mostly. Not on this forum, thankfully (at least not that I've seen).
  20. Sure, thats all true. But tell me how many guys were picked at or after 21 as opposed to in the top 10. I'm betting the hit percentage drops considerably.
  21. We've honestly gotten pretty lucky. No huge emergencies (though this year has been kind of...exciting). Biggest issue we've had was our roof, but we kind of knew about it going in. Its just got character! I'd still take it over a lot of the development homes in the 'burbs. I did find some interesting wiring in the attic floor/second floor ceiling yesterday, too, though. It can be a bit of an adventure.
