  1. A part of me wants Jack to play a couple games, dominate enough to quiet any remaining talks of him being over rated because "look how they're doing without him!", then take the rest of the season off.
  2. More likely I get Bridgewater this way. Slightly.
  3. That was the greatest QB draft in history and the Chiefs borked it up taking the one guy who wasn't great. I'm not saying they can't screw it up still, but they give themselves the best chance to get the best. How about: you could be the Bills in the 2004 draft and get Losman instead of Eli, Rivers, or Roethlisberger? Also, they will still have a full draft (minus a 7th) even if they have to spend both firsts, a second, and a third to move up.
  4. Plumbing fun! Took the dog outside last night, and as I walked past the basement door I heard what sounded like running water. It was. Slop sink in the basement was over flowing on to the floor. Looks like the drain going to the sewer from the kitchens (we have a two family home) is plugged. I tried a quick snake from the slop sink but to no avail. Plumber calling time.
  5. Getting a little more worried about the Star signing. 5 years is a long time for a guy thats 28/29.
  6. In that same tweet he said Ullmark would be recalled, and that just happened.

  8. And Rosen, Darnold, AND Mayfield are all regarded as Top 10 picks as well...
  9. Rosen is probably on a similar level to what Wentz was. But there's no real way to know that at this point. In 2016 everyone was saying "well there's no Mariota or Winston in this draft". I've got guys I like, so do they, get the guy you want, not the guy who's left.
  10. Wow. That certainly helps shore up that line a bit. Need to see what the deal is.
  11. That's a bit of a skewed stat IMO. 3 of those 20 qb's were Tom Brady, and he's definitely the exception to the rule. Foles won the Superbowl this year and he didn't play for 3/4s of the season; Wentz was the starter there and he was picked #2. Fact is, the QB is just too important in this league to leave to chance. Picking high doesn't neccessarily mean you get the best QB, but it gives you the most options at QB. From there you have to trust your GM to pick the right guy, and lets be honest, no body freaking knows. But I'd rather let my shooter shoot instead of grabbing Mason Rudolph at 21 and just hoping for the best. In all likely hood the Bills will be able to move up to the Top-3 and still have picks in every round this year and next year; that's fine by me. I still want them to get Bridgewater too, give me two lotto tickets instead of one.
  12. When is it? I've never done a comic-con SabreSpace Beauts meet up?
  13. Take a read through this twitter thread: https://twitter.com/SlavaMalamud/status/971595788315918336 The long and short of it is: Putin owns SKA and the league has been completely rigged this year to make them win. They don't have to pay attention to salary caps, but everyone else does. Now the games are being straight up fixed, with phantom penalties being called against opponents, and no-calls going the other way. Meanwhile, the Russian equivalent of the Charlestown Chiefs is doing their damnedest to win a playoff round against SKA. Its a fascinating, and slightly terrifying in a dystopian sort of way, read. EDIT: fixed the link so now it points to the thread.
  14. This would have been super handy for my grampa when he was going into Roswell a couple times a week. The hospital shuttles did their best, but it was a pain for him.
  15. You can't have relegation with affiliated teams, at least not like that. In the EPL teams don't have affiliates; instead they have U23 and U18 teams (U=under the age of, though people over those ages also still play in them somehow? I'm not really sure how it works). So there would be an Under 23 Sabres team that you would send guys down too, but theres no waivers or anything, they can just play for the younger club, who plays against other younger clubs. There are a lot of problems with changing Hockey to be like European soccer, but not the least of it is that there are WAY more people world wide who play soccer than play hockey. This creates a huge talent pool that allows all of these teams and leagues to exist. I support Everton so I looked at their roster; between the first team and the U23 team (I didn't look at the 18s because I figure those kids aren't in the NHL yet if its hockey) they have over 70 players (including some that are on loan to other clubs). There are 20 teams in the EPL. There are 8 levels of English League soccer. And thats JUST ENGLAND! EDIT: Quick look up, there were around 2 million hockey players registered with the IIHF in 2013. There were over 240 million soccer players registered with FIFA in 2014.
  16. Yes, from my understanding. And I'm totally down for Beane doing his best to game the compensatory pick market.
  17. After reading the Dark Tower books and a couple others of his since then, I think King gets glossed with Horror too easily, or at least was by me. He's much more, like, sci-fi suspense. Or if he's horror its more Lovecraftian horror than the slasher/ghost stuff that I never had time for. He's good .
  18. I'm all about audio books right now, too. For the last year or so actually. Right now I'm on book 7 of 14 of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time. Let me tell you, I wouldn't have made it this far trying to read it from the books. 20-30 minute commute every day, plus a lot of times I'll put my headphones in walking the dog, and might have it running while I'm at work or up in my shop at home; that means I'm listening to sometimes 2+ hours a day. If I try to read at night I often get distracted or fall asleep in about 15 minutes unless I'm really wrapped up in the story.
  19. I heard Rudolph be compared to Chad Henne and that just obliterated my opinion of thim.
  20. Home ownership sucked today. To hell with shoveling that 2 tons of white .
  21. I'd say you'd fallen to the communists, but that was the last name change event.
  22. One of the chocolate shops are there, too. Watson's maybe?
