Fair enough, get involved, dont lose your passion. Learn how to make things happen that are good for all of us.

I am not questioning your commitment to the US but participating in parties. The big two imo are not inclusive at their own peril of another party forming and invigorating those not involved. Its definetly balancing act. My only point is to encourage you to get involved and do the work to influence the party in a direction you feel strongly about. Your arrogance and myopic misunderstanding of the poltical process is that you think you are the only independent voice and only you are right and your solutionis the only way. Politics is about bringing people together towards a common ideal. That takes work, compromise and ego checking. Sure its frustrating dealing with many different players within both the system and within each party. Within the Democratic party there are lots of different dedicated folks working toward common goals and to denigrate them because you are a johnny come lately that hasnt done the foot work to get your message incoporated is insulting and therefore arrogant.

The more I thought about the right of association the more I realized you dont have a clue what this right as entails. Let me ask you would a church of x denomination not make you pledge to a creed, dont the boy scouts require a certain code, heck even xray tech, medical professionals have creeds and ethics to abide by... So what pissed me off by your thinking that you have a right to come in and participate in any political party without such a commitment is pure arrogance imo, especially when so many dedicated people have volunteered countless hours shaping the party. So my choice of words may have been off, really how arrogant of you to think it you should just be able to influence a party without some sort of committment. I personnally dont like open primaries or think that non party members votes should be discounted or be less important than party loyal party members.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I door knocked for LaFalce, Western NY Peace Organization, NYPirg, was a college Dem, Pres of the Young Dems of Alexandria, State Presidential delegate, worked on I dont know how many campaigns, worked for 4 diff Members of Congress, a US President, and the Senate Democratic Leadership. I got involved and made a difference locally as well as nationally. Great these guys are enthusiastic but it takes work and bringing people together over time. Was everything perfect no but I had a voice and seat at the table and my influence was felt. Just because things got a little tough i hope they dont quit. Keep at it. That is the American way perserverance!

Fair enough and its goals are ? Inclusiveness so should there be a standard of political goals for participation and how do you go about deciding those goals and dealing with those upset that their ideals are not agreed with by the majority within the party. Yeh "independent" of what? There is an oxymoron...
-
Again sorry, still i couldnt disagree more, start a new party make the Bernie faction stronger, do the work. 40% consider themselves inependent but are too lazy to start another party effective at competing for the hearts and mind of the american public. There is nothing in the constitution stopping you except hard work consistent leadership over a longer period of time. Cult of personalities are short lived. . I dont disagree with your goals only how you get there. Again and healthcare actually does need a constitutional amendment to the interstate commerce clause... but I digress.
-
Sorry just pokin the bear..., that being not as you see fit but as the party rules see fit to include you again at their own peril either way. But freedom of association or non association may or may not include you or me.
-
. Again open primaries are agreed to by party within each state and NC is an interesting case. Still each party could require greater standards for participation. Another interesting item each state party decides on its presidential election rules not the national.
-
. For better or worse the two big ones have ologopoly over that choice because they cast a wide net of participation. But they are not required to by law allow just anyone to participate. They limit or allow that participation at their own peril
-
No you are allowed to vote in the general election for any candidate you want parties are private non governmental entities and therefore able to determine their own membership as long as the usual non discrimination rules are followed. How unamerican are you??
-
Actually yes, especially hispanic.
-
Really? Why should a party let you influence their selection when you have shown no loyalty, done no work in support. Too me this idea is assine. If you want to be part of a party you should be at least committed to its ideals and not be able to use it because it is convenient to a candidate that really isnt in this case a democrat and paid his/ her dues.

[quote name="K-9" post="826216" timestamp="1463682997" As for your thoughts on corporate America, I suggest reading the recent article in TIME about how capitalism has changed over the last 40 years. It was a real eye-opener and has me doing much more research on the matter. Long story short, corporate America has been negatively impacted by the emergence of various new funds on Wall Street and our debt-fueled economy in the face of the decades of deregulation. Corporate America is not the enemy and it has become harder for it to bestow the benefits to the citizenry it once did. Interesting premise, will need to check it out. On the surface, I could see that argument as having merit. Wall Street changes though I would argue is part of a greater change in that the citizenery has greater access to get rich quick gambling without actually producing anything substantively. This is part of the internet generation and Ivam not sure where it goes and how long it lasts as we as a society get used to its effect on our lives and adjust to it till the next big thing comes along.

I hear you but disagree, real Sanders supporters wont support Hillary, just like the right wont wont support Trump. They are true believers and unless you are lock step in line witheir myopic view of the way politics works and how to get things done you are the enemy. While I lean toward the left, there are ways to push the country in a positive sustainable direction without disengaging or mistakenly trying to cut out corporate america... it aint gonna happen... but Trump will lead us in such a wrong direction I cant believe Sanders supporters dont get on board with HRC and work hard toward pushing our country inclusively towards their goals. HRC will listen and be helpful. Despite the political rough and tumble she is an honorable and patient leader who likes results but want coalitions built. Its the only way your goals are even remotely sustainable. Are there bad actors in corporate america sure, and there are good ones too. Just punishing all doesnt work nor does stamping your feet and throwing a temper tantrum work. Get invovled stay involved. Political work is tough work, it requires time and committment for more than one campaign cycle. I know I did it for 21 plus years. rather than shouting threats learn how to make the system work, change what can be changed and realize corporate agendas will always be there and they need incentives to do the right thing not just threats.

I agree, still think Sabres can sign a D, draft more D in later rounds and develop one but they need someone with nice hands Nylander or Keller fit that bill. So including Big 3, Nylander Tkachuk, PLD and Keller any more Euro forwards or Bellows worthy of consideration. I guess I am asking if any D get drated in top 7 before Sabres pick. Liking me some Keller, not sure Sabres need a Tkachuk, maybe but the definetly need a scorer, so I am trying to figure chances Nylandrr or Keller there with eighth.
