  1. PS lots of rinks around, not a lot of stands... Rye Playland me able to hold a decent 1,000 capacity and they just redid it. I think the Rangers practice there
  2. Princeton is just north of Philly so about 2.5 to 3 hours. You can take a train though.
  3. Tic Toc Tic Toc... sigh.. long off season...
  4. I remember going to a game in Bastan that year sitting front row, because Bastan still stunk, they had just gotten Chara, but Drury and Briere were magical and they beat the Bruins 3-1 that game. It was a Birthday gift from my wife from six months prior and we had just moved the prior year from DC to Amherst, MA to get out of the fishbowl. Talinder was still healthy at the time and with the team.
  5. Not that I am aware, Mustache of God may know more about a place like Columbia... LI has some places. But Chelsea piers stands are nothing to write home about, Elmsford nope, Terry Conner rink in Stamford CT is the closest I can think of with that kind of capacity. Fordam doesnt have a team... maybe Rutgers in NJ but people in NYC dont go to NJ. NYU doesnt have a rink... hmmm?
  6. Loved the comic and sports sections
  7. If anyone ever gets up to UMass area for a hockey game you have to go to Cooks farm ice cream store called Flavvors. Ice cream straight outta the cow and neat flavors.
  8. Oof, no playoff hockey tonight... feeling a little joansey tonight... it is going to be a looong off season. How soon to rookie training camp? Oh yeh and the draft... sigh... October til real games is a long time.
  9. Full Moon gotta be tonight... Our ER is crazy
  10. Agreed but some of these places need upgrade to make them attractive to semi casual fans at least Brewster would need to be.
  11. Heck where the Apple Core Play, the Junior A Team in the area, at Brewster my guess is the stands hold 1,000 at best.. the other close places are Danbury and Bridgeport
  12. Yeh but the closet rink to that is the Stamford Twin Rinks near NYC
  13. In regards to the NYC area... my bet is that rink time is problematic... doubt the NHL could afford MSG, there is always something going on there and there really isn't any rinks in NYC other than MSG that can handle a crowd... you would have to go up to Westchester right now or at least until the new Islanders facility is built. The Barkley Center is also busy but maybe a little more amenable, but not sure, especially once the Isles leave.
  14. Just got diagnosed with the C word... dont know yet if malignant but after passing a second kidney stone in a week and a half with some blood my urologist... all men over 50 should have one... wanted to do a urine sample and CT scan. Saw the stones and a weird shadow. Blood came back positive in urine... not in good way.., so did a scope, sure enough small tumor in my bladder... caught it early Thank God... for a kidney stone... who knew. They excise it laparoscopically by putting three holes in belly... what really sucks is I have to a catheter for a week... sigh.. Told my wife upon result of scope I have 2 days to live... she told me to f off appropriately.
  15. Read the scar stuff and tattoos, hmmm now to figure a design...
  16. Ah you had to go there... so many inappropriate responses possible.
  17. I hate Bastan the team, I hate Carolina fair weather, no idea about hockey fans
  18. Too much botox in the lips... guess no one is looking at her lips..

  22. It depends on how well doing so helps the NHL expand its market share of sports revenue... ie by including women who are a growing segment of earners and sport participants. Not sure from a purely economic sense if this is good longterm strategy or not? Maybe and what is that timeline?
  23. Agree, though they may view it as a political decision and are trying shake more support for their efforts in the current political climate. Dont be surprised if the women's movement steps up and makes it uncomfortable for the owners. Not sure it gets them where they want... especially as you said with all the other stuff going on, their timing kinda sucks. Politically though the timing makes sense.
  24. Not sure that it is the fastest most athletic and the rest of your argument is the issue. I do think men tend to watch men's sports at a higher rate than women watch women's sports and tend to spend lots of money on them. Yes women watch men's sports, but not near the same rate and you usually see them with their significant other when they do. If women supported women sports more and I am not sure it is the same priority for them it is for men, then maybe there would be more money available for professional women's sports. This may change as we see women much more involved in athletics lately, but I still think it is a difference in priorities that may never fully change. Can there be enough attention to make certain sports viable financially... not sure.
