Yeah it would be nice if Kevyn could find a top 9 forward like a Tkachuk or Tom Wilson that could play top 6 minutes and be a dominating, intimidating force. Those guys don’t grow on trees. Don’t get me wrong, Adams has avoided the forest (with some minor improvements in drafting recently) and the Peterka trade. Maybe Doan is that guy. Could use another 3-4 of him on the team. Tuch could be that guy but doesn’t get dirty enough for a man his size.

Their 4th line resembles a 4th line for the first time in years. When Danforth returns, that will change the dynamic and I’m not sure for the better. Adam’s swung and missed woefully last season with the Lafferty, Malenstyn whoever else was thrown into that mess. Looks like Beck may be fine with the right linemates. I like Dunne and hope he continues to find a role on the Sabres.

Is there such a thing in the NHL?

Have you watched the Sabres the last decade or two? They fumble games like this routinely. Like it’s almost a certainty this game will be harder than it should with a good chance the Sabres lose.

But they love sending out Dunne, Malestyn and whoever with under 3 minutes to play needing a goal.

At some point, you are going to have to let this go. Some of us got caught up on the moment as the Sabres finally resembled an NHL with camaraderie, toughness and sticking up for one another. It was difficult to figure out why as they only added a few new players so Geertsen was attributed as having an impact. Clearly, it’s something else. Hard to say if it was the addition of Doan and Kesselring (who hadn’t played when this revelation occurred) or something we as fans aren’t privy to. This years team is drastically different. Maybe removing guys who went above and beyond to avoid team toughness exercises, like Peterka. Hard to say exactly what did it but things are different now. That being said, a week from now they’ll probably get bullied by another team and we all tuck our tails between our legs.

Dunne’s foot speed is an issue. He’s was caught on two breakaways before he hit center ice while on the Amerks. It’s going to cost the Sabre defensively at some point.

In the first photo, you can see Utah ran a pick play or rub off to shed Tuch. Quinn is in no man’s land but he’s in decent position because he’s between the puck and the net. Why he nor Dahlin recognize what is unfolding until Keller is point blank with the goalie is troubling. Not sure if the players usually yell switch or something to indicate an uncovered player is coming free heading to the net but those guys need to react better there. Frankly, Dahlin and Quinn, for all their offensive talents might be the two dimmest players on the team. Constantly not recognizing things on the ice and causing defensive lapses because of it.

He’s not going to suddenly get more accurate. Maybe Lindy could tell him not to pick the corners so much but I fear the discussion would then turn into why is Alex always shooting the puck into the goalie so much.

Every season I’m mother freaking the teams with 17 OTL’s that are 10 points ahead of the Sabres and in the playoffs. It would be nice to turn the tables.

The Amerks are not short on toughness. Between them he rooskies, Joshua, Dunne (when he goes back), Warren, and Kuntar, they have plenty of jam.

Yeah I mean there are about a half dozen Amerks on the Sabres currently. So I wouldn’t paint the picture that the Sabres don’t have any prospects or minor leaguers that can help out. They already are. Helenius is the obvious choice if they need to call any one else up. Unless somebody is excited for Jagger Joshua szn. Love the dude but he’s barely talented epnough for the AHL, and really only has a roster spot due to the other things he brings, mainly his fists.

Dunleavy definitely is a Yew-Tah. Is it a Canadian thing?

Yeah the Eagles have $9 mill in cap space after the deals. Not sure how people can compare the situations.

He’s killing this team. He’s been directly responsible for several losses. He needs to go to save the season and the franchise. I’ve never been more sure about anything in my life. He may be the next Erik Karlsson. The Sabres can’t wait for that nor do they need that. Get him off the team.

I can’t believe how terrible Jack Quinn was on that goal. Does he understand hockey? It’s the worst play I’ve ever seen in hockey.
