I know why you say this with how the draft went down and how their careers have begun but Marco is much more of a certainty at this point and Mattias / Isak aren’t assets the Sabres need.

The Sabres don’t exactly have the Leafs roster. Maybe BS could get it there but this teams needs a huge roster turnover.

With zero commitment to defense. Fans wanted accountability, this is what it looks like. Cozens was held accountable and got his ass shipped out. I’m fine with JJ following the same path. They need to reshape the roster and getting an actual responsible hockey player for Peterka could galvanize this roster. Get Quinn & Samuelsson off the roster too. Mattias is just garbage and Quinn is just not good. Great shooter, decent playmaker, plays like someone trying not to get touched.

JJ is a great offensive player that can’t be bothered to play defense. He’ll be a long time NHL player but it wouldn’t surprise me if he plays his way down any roster he’s a part of. Coaches aren’t going to just accept him lazily skating in the D zone on the back check. If they can get a more well rounded player in return for him, do it.

If Brannstrom got a thread why not Lukas Rousek. Thought he might turn into a decent bottom six player but he never seemed to make the jump. Too passive and consistently turned down prime scoring opportunities to defer to teammates. Granted those players usually were better shooters but he had point blank scoring chances that he opted to drop pass.

The inevitable “Cooter” nickname is also a huge plus when evaluating prospects

Great win, very frustrating to see Laval way more interested in injuring our players than playing hockey. It’s why you need to employ 4-5 thugs that will not get bitch slapped like our boys do. I like the guys but outside of Dunne and occasionally Murray, they just don’t have the beef to respond accordingly.

Given how toxic it has become for Marner the last few seasons due to the insanity that is the Toronto hockey market, I could see him signing a max deal with someone like the Mammoth and disappear into the oblivion.

Yep. First round draft picks I understand taking the BPA regardless of style (although I would value aggression as a talent much more than Sabres have the last two decades). But every other round you can and should be supplementing your organization with the type of players you are sorely lacking. It looks like the last draft or two they have started to draft that way but it needed to happen a long time ago.

Evan Mossbrooks was delighted to tell us that as well. Honestly, the only person more tired of Mossbrooks jinxing the Amerks is Don Stevens. I know this because every time Evan does it, he has to apologize after Stevens admonishes him on air. I love Don Stevens.

Rocket players cross checking, tackling, slashing, spearing, face washing. Amerks players just taking it. Dunne hit someone, and caused a would be turnover but he barely has AHL skill, so the puck just sat there until the Rocket player recovered from the hit and skated away with it.

The Amerks are a frustrating team to watch. Getting run all over the ice. Constantly trying to make the pretty play. It’s the playoffs, just throw it at the net and stick someone in front of the net.
