Don’t bother. The NFL makes money. The NBA makes money. I think MLB makes money. I’m really uncertain about the NHL. What are their operating costs? Maybe $200 million a season? So how do they cover. Math tells me at least half that comes from ticket revenue. So the other $100 million comes from TV contracts and merchandise. I guess I can see it working. It just seems like NHL owners have been crying poor forever. Maybe it’s just rich people complaining they aren’t getting more rich quickly enough.

I’ve often (ok not that often) wondered how the Sabres scouting staff come ma up with some of these picks. Are they just driving around Sweden looking for pickup hockey games hoping to spy a kid who it lighting it up. Nothing from this kids past screams NHL talent.

I try to avoid using “next” or “year” when describing timelines in sports as everyone seems to have a different definition. I have this argument with my wife discussing “next” weekend. To me, the weekend immediately after the current Friday is “this weekend”. To her, this set of days is called “next weekend”. It gets real squirrelly on Thursdays talking about “next weekend” that’s less than 48 hour away.

Without context, yes. With 1.5 billion people saying the Bills should roll the Patriots, it kinda hits home. Glad they won. That’s where it ends.

As someone who has ***** up so many times in life I’ve lost track, I want to feel empathy for the kid. The details in the story make it extremely difficult. He’s paying the piper. I wish people were a little less cavalier about his future but I guess that’s human nature. His parents on the other hand, are almost certainly the root cause of his lack of compassion and extreme callousness toward a person who did nothing to deserve that kind of treatment. I’d be real curious to hear stories of his upbringing and what led him to be so void of compassion. I have a hard time believing he came from two well adjusted, empathetic people. There are probably some ghosts in their closet and demons that are finally seeing the light of day.

If they Jets had any brain power at all he would have had 20 carries for north of one hundred yards. Don’t let their incompetence fool you into believe the Bills can do anything to stop the run right now.
