They can just leave Risto exposed for the draft. He has no real value to any team that even knows what analytics are.

Hopefully the front office doesn’t get exposed. Hearing they haven’t even asked Skinner to waive his NMC for the expansion draft is discouraging. Hearing they are talking with the Kraken about Okposo is perplexing and also discouraging. I figured with Ventura and Karmanos aboard, this kinda of stuff would be history.

Correct Every player I mentioned has a statical quantification. The good ones I want to keep, the bad ones not so much.

Offensively he’s fine, it’s every other part of his game that is offensive.

1) Get Risto off the team. He gets crushed every time he’s on the ice and brings down every Sabre he’s on the ice with 2) Cody Eakin never suits up for the Sabres again. He replaced Sobotka as the worst forward in the NHL statistically. It’s quite disturbing they got rid of the worst player and then someone found someone worse. 3) Not drafting Owen Power - dmen are much trickier to evaluate with metrics but it would give me confidence if they took any of the top forwards or Hughes whose ceiling looks much higher than Power 4) Don’t give away assets to move Okposo. Just no reason for it unless they plan on bringing in $30 mill in players this off-season 5) Don’t leave Asplund or Borgen unprotected in the expansion draft. These are players you build with. Good teams keep these players. Bad ones let them walk for nothing.

It would be terrible asset management to give away draft picks in order to remove a salary they may actually need on the books after whatever transpires with the disgruntled three. I’m unfamiliar with this “effective Risto” player.

His on ice value is a net negative. He makes the team worse every time he steps on the ice. I’d trade him for a dollar.

I think we can go way wrong picking Power. I see Jack Johnson not Victor Hedman. He just looks like a kid that is ahead of his peers physically and stands out because of it. See Jack Johnson. If the Sabres get him, I’m hoping for the best but the highly skilled forwards all projected to be top 5 picks look the part.

The lack of discussion about the addition of Venture is disappointing. I get that adding a stats nerd isn’t very sexy but this move has me like: Buffalo media is like:

Why not just use that term?

If they can make the playoffs and draft another top 6 forward or dman, great. Maybe Ventura will be the guy who can do that.

I’m glad you finished this the way you did. I just can’t relive the shoulda, coulda, woulda, life.

Which would kinda be the best outcome. God I need this team to win now but if they can compete and grow as a team and still grab a sure fire top line center, I’ll have a hard time saying no.
