  1. I think it matters very little which liberal democrat runs, they will most likely win no matter who else runs against them. The media will not let a liberal democrat lose the election. Especially with Hillary being the first woman president. Unless she is convicted of a major crime, the liberal media would not let her lose the election.
  2. Maybe the good news is when PLF left the Islanders, Nolan stayed and continued to coach.
  3. Just listened to Nolan's presser after practice this morning. Based on Nolan's comments I wouldn't be surprised if Stafford is one of the captains or the captain for the rest of the season. Nolan was impressed with how Stafford handled himself after the Miller/Ott trade and Nolan also said the captaincy would be passed around.
  4. The idea that PLF would put things in place and then walk away doesn't seem right. A planned walk away doesn't occur 5 days before one of the most important dates to the organization this season, the trade deadline. What goes on that everyone can't be big boys and PLF resigns after the tradeline? If PLF is leaving in mutual agreement, why no press conference to announce it? Obviously something wasn't quite right in Hockey Heaven and we'll probably never know exactly what went on.
  5. Maybe one of the sticking points was PLF wanted to use Sabretooth as the backup goalie and Murray insisted on Vinz. Murray gets his way and PLF goes home?
  6. Last night I wasn't sold on the trade. I thought they could have gotten more for miller and ott. After thinking it over I think it was fair for both teams and Miller. They took care of Miller by trading him to a team that has a legitimate chance to win a cup. I think that looks good on the franchise. If the conditional pick becomes a 1st, Murray won round one.
  7. Call off the trades!!! Keep everybody!!!! The Sabres are making a push for the playoffs!!!! Nah, just kidding but it was a fun game to watch and see them win.
  8. Unless the Sabres can make the playoffs and win a round there is no reason not to tank next year. It would be foolish not to tank and get a shot at either McDavid and Eichel in the draft. I find it hard to believe that Miller would want to stay with the Sabres but he may not have much choice even in FA.
  9. Bigger based on the anguish that would happen in Canada. Canadians consider hockey theirs. To think that Latvia could beat them would be unthinkable to Canadians. The planes carrying the players back might not be allowed to land in Canada.
  10. Great start. Shots 16-5 Canada and score is tied 1-1. Really pulling for Latvia as I love underdogs. The longer Latvia can hang close the tougher it gets for Canada. Latvia has nothing to lose. Canada loses and they might as well join Russia in Siberia. Anybody watching How is Girgs doing?
  11. I can't watch at work but I'll listen on the radio. Almost as interested in Canada v. Latvia but haven't quite figured out how to listen to both games at the same time. Not going to happen, but I'd love for the Latvians to beat Canada or at least take them to OT.
  12. Finland up 3-1. If this holds, Putin's going to blow a gasket!
  13. Read this from www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/GARTHS-CORNER/Halak-Bottom/6/58038 near the bottom is this description of Girgs. "Buffalo Sabres 19 year-old rookie Zemgus Girgensons, who scored his first Olympic goal against King Hank Lundqvist in Saturday’s loss to Sweden, is capable of throwing his team on his back and fighting like a “Braveheart”. Zemgus will give the Swiss cold sweats because he never stops competing inside a shift. He fore checks like a hostile, hungry rottweiler chasing a mail man off his front porch."
  14. Grigorenko still seems to have the most talent of anyone in the farm system. Hopefully, he can put the hard work part of it together with the talent. I may be wrong but it just doesn't seem that the Sabres have that #1 winger or centerman in the drafted players. Seems to be lots of #2 and #3 line players. The defensive prospects seem to be better as a group though. There are more than enough that could be top four defensemen in the coming years. I'm hoping they draft the top forward in the next two drafts, assuming the tank is on again next year, and we can get a couple of top line forwards.
  15. Zadorov should not be in the NHL next year. The Sabres will be bad again. Maybe worse than this year. All of the youngsters should be in either the AHL or in juniors and none of them should be moved up to the Sabres. Keep them out of that type of situation. Let them play all situations and get lots of ice time. And those that are in Rochester maybe even compete for a Calder cup. The Sabres tank one more season, get #1 or #2 in the draft and then start the rebuild at the NHL level. Populate the Sabres with 3rd and 4th line players and maybe some of the older AHLers and tank one more time.
  16. You are absolutely right about change for the sake of change, except in this instance. Regier was going no place and had no chance of going any place. Making a change was the only way out of that mess. It might turn out worse, it might turn out better but a change had to be made. I find Murray as GM interesting and with Patrick and Lafontaine along with him, I think the Sabres have a good chance to be on the right track. I like the tact Murray has taken up to this point. He came in took his time and looked around, hopefully has created a plan and will begin executing the plan leading up to the deadline. I would be far more worried if he had come in and made significant moves immediately. He would then be in a ready, fire, aim mode and that almost never ends well. The key evaluation will be in 3-4 years after two drafts and two free agency periods and some of the current crop of youngsters have possibly moved up to the NHL. Then we will know if Murray was the right guy or not. Even if Murray is in over his head the Sabres have Patrick and Lafontaine to whisper advice in his ear. Given the triumvirate of Murray, Patrick and Lafontaine I can't think of too many, if any, scenarios where the Sabres would be better off.
  17. Any doors that Murray needs opened this year, Patrick and Lafontaine can open for him. While it remains to be seen how Murray does, just taking a chance on him is an improvement over Regier.
  18. Thank God somebody got us back on track!
  19. Turns out maybe the republicans were right. Everyone will eventually participate in Obamacare. It is inevitable. I will lose my health insurance in the future as it will be declared a "luxury" plan and taxed heavily. It will be too costly for my employer to provide and too costly for me to afford. I will be forced to use Obamacare. Obamacare will succeed. That doesn't mean it is good. That just means that the democrats will do whatever is needed to ensure that it does. Kickbacks, rebates, increased taxes, etc. will all be employed to ensure another government program succeeds. Don't fool yourself, Obamacare has very little to do with health care coverage, that is the squirrel to attract your attention. It is a resource grab, a redistribution of weatlh, and another handout program to keep those that vote for the Dems to keep voting for the Dems.
  20. I hope they don't trade Grigorenko just yet. He appears to be the most naturally talented prospect the sabers have at this point. Yes he needs to improve his work ethic and hopefully he will in the ahl next season. Maybe he doesn't pan out in 2 or 3 years but with all that talent it's worth giving him a proper path to the nhl instead of the mess he's been through so far.
  21. I will be very surprised if Miller resigns here. He wants to play for a Stanley Cup contender and that won't happen here for at least two-three years and most likely 4-5. By that time he'll be at the end of his career with a team that is just getting to the point where it can compete. The timing is just off for him with Buffalo.
  22. PLF, Nolan and Murray talk with Grigs telling him that he is going back to the Q. Grigs doesn't like but understands by the end of the conversation. Grigs calls agent and tells him that he is going back to Q. Agent gets upset that the Sabres didn't deal with him first before talking to Grigs and posts that Grigs will not report to Q. Time passes fan forums go nuts and lose all sanity for the situation. Agent realizes that maybe this was a mistake and has Grigs send out facebook statement. Sabres and agent agree to meet to discuss the situation relative to Grigs. Agent gets his meeting with the Sabres and his ego has been brushed sufficiently. Grigs announces that he will be going to Q. Fan forums calm down but some still call for Grigs head on a platter. Agent crawls back under rock.
  23. so glad to hear the planets have realigned and Grigorenko came to his senses. Now I can stop reading this thread and get some sleep.
  24. I'm not sure Nolan is the right guy, but the Sabres have the rest of the season to find out. Rolston was a victim of circumstance, lack of talent mostly, a bit in over his head and the team didn't play hard for him since day 1. I think they will play hard for Nolan, and if they don't I'm pretty sure Lafontaine will have no problem changing the players or the coach. In any event the team moved forward today, whether right or wrong, and that is a start. The team was going nowhere under Rolston and Regier.
  25. It is truly amazing how bad they are. If they worked hard and just didn't have the talent, I would think they would get better eventually with a few additional pieces and upgrades. But how will they ever get better if they don't have the work ethic. Another year of this, which seems inevitable, and the rookies and 1 year players may never pan out. They may become part of the problem. So far this season the Sabres have done absolutely nothing to create any confidence that they will eventually get better.
