  1. I didn't think I'd be controversial (this time)! The distinction between the two holidays is accurate. I'm grateful to those who cleared my muddy post. I'm also grateful we can recignize two different opportunities to be thankful, my sloppy lack of distinction notwithstanding.
  2. Allow me to express heartfelt appreciation to the men, women and families who've served our country, especially to those who've passed. My deepest gratitude goes to those who gave their lives while serving. I am forever in their debt.
  3. I am NOT impersonating Analytics Guy, but my calculator tells me .69 and .94 ppg, regular season and playoffs, respectively. I'd say significant*. All time top 50 forward, playoff ppg. *conversationally. I'll let TBGED tell us if it's statistically. 973 and 124 games, respectively.
  4. Glad you're here!
  5. Excellent ....I discovered the moral mind conversation and research several weeks ago ... Values, measures and slopes. Experientially, it resonates with me. I am twenty football fields away from understanding, of course, but I feel it among those I know and interact with. https://www.ted.com/talks/jonathan_haidt_on_the_moral_mind?language=en
  6. "..and, like, almost all players would prefer Blysma to Babcock", added Stamkos.
  7. Awesome ....
  8. HOF, yay or nay. Could be an interesting thread. There are some significantly better "stat" lines not in the Hall. Perhaps the NHL's a little more exclusive than some leagues. Roenick, Lindros, Turgeon, Andrychuk.
  9. Interesting playoff vs regular season conversation regarding Briere. Playoff ppg >1. Interesting in light of the clutch comments we've had on this board. I'm not sure what clutch is to any two of us, but he certainly contributed in April, May and June.
  10. Is Briere a HOF bubble conversation? 307 goals, 696 pts, 973 games, ~.7 ppg. No cups. I say no to HOF, and pretty far down on the bubble conversation. In fact, my "research" for this post answered my own question. Amiright?
  11. Always liked Phillips. Context: Buffalo took Erik Rasmussen 7th over all in that draft. Phillips went #1.
  12. He, um, iced the puck. ........ Technicality .... Is that reviewable?
  13. "Hockey" must be the greatest product mankind has ever contrived to market and sell. You see, it continues to withstand the dumbest management in the history of free enterprise. I can think of the demand for only food and shelter surviving were their delivery as mismanaged as NHL hockey's is mismanaged. http://deadspin.com/the-nhl-threatened-to-fine-the-lightning-if-they-didnt-1778925655 Tampa, you know, that traditional hockey market, is sending thousands to gather in the square, party, and watch it's team. "Not so fast, there, boys ....". PS ... PM me if you're too young to remember free enterprise. icrackmeup
  14. UB and TBGED - awesome.
  15. Awesome ... Neo re-run: I had my ear glued to a transistor radio. To put that night into context, the upstart Sabres were playing the powerhouse, Stanley Cup defending, Big Bad Bruins. That's a nickname not born in my imagination. Instead, it was the franchise's nickname in an era when fighting and physical play was a strategy. Think Broad Street Bullies. All three Bruins were All Stars. One was a noted tough guy in a league full of them. One is a generation spanning all time great. Who WAS this red headed crazy man? And he could play! The Sabres won, 7-3 at home, in what was game five of an eight game winning streak. It was NEWS heard round the hockey world. The great love affair commenced ... The past is prologue ... Schoenfeld's most remembered post player moment also occurred in a hallway leaving the ice. Until a Stanley Cup is carried by a Sabre overhead, it's an all time Sabres moment. Perhaps even after ...
  16. Same thought, here.
  17. As I look over the posts, mine included, I'm surprised Campbell hasn't been mentioned more. I'll take Korab off of my original listing, and replace him with Campbell.
  18. Creative and fun ... well done.
  19. Sadly, I'm not ....
  20. sip sip sip sip sip ....!
  21. Larry Playfair when we played the Bruins.
  22. I have to add Zhitnik to my list. He ate, ate, minutes against top pairs.
  23. Ramsey Schoeny Housley ... He's so unique and therefore hard to compare to others McKee, Hajt, Wooley, Korab, Bodger .... (Waiting for comment, here)
  24. My son and his family return today .... After six years in the United States Navy, oceans, ports and deployments, he is now a veteran whose tours of duty have ended. USNR and the beginning of the rest of his life. Love, respect and gratitude. He and his arrive at my house, today ... transition central for a week or so.
  25. I did. Seriously .... GREAT stuff, here. Irwin, I may have known and forgotten ... Thank you for your service ... Josie ... We've walked the same paths, if years apart .... Fine arts colleges to vacation cottages and bays! Important to add - I was a spectator, only, at the fine arts college! Edit to add: and Sainte Chappelle!
