Happy Halloween! by gazaniac, on Flickr If you click the little curving arrow at the bottom right, with the tag "share photo", you can select BB CODE and just paste that code in here. Unrelatedly, that Cybershot takes great pictures.

I would say the biggest area of need would be a solid goaltender who can steal a game, or win a goalie duel. After that the bottom D pairing should be upgraded to something that puts the entire D corp on another level. This is based on what I see now, which could change. What we really need is time. The top six needs to learn how to score!

I can't agree with any of this. All of these guys are accomplishing their assignments. Gorges, especially, is very good at what he's supposed to do. What's holding then back is inexperience and time. They're going to look much better by Christmas. Today we saw sustained aggression for all three periods - when was the last time you saw the Sabres playing aggressively for all three periods? This game looked almost like a playoff game. There was no panic in their game today, and the frustration didn't creep in until the waning moments of the second. They had several good chances against a hot team with a solid goalie and lost by one point. This wasn't a blow out by any stretch; it was the kind of game coaches mean when they say "games are so tight in this league today...". Disco Dan seems to be pushing the right buttons and making good decisions...it will be a delicious stew when it's done.

ROR already being double shifted?

Good period. No whizz bang, but solid defensively and excellent team play. McCabe had a senior moment on that goal, but Chad could have stopped it, too. We'll have those moments.

A homer penalty if ever there was one.
-
What an interesting period. The Sabres have these guys frustrated. Eichel is showing some serious defensive responsibility. The Lightning are trying to turn this physical.
-
DD would be a fool to bust up the Rhinedhardt line.
-
I hope to God DD isn't "over-coaching" Eichel.
-
That's twice, now, Eichel was following Kane down the same wing and a pass came across to the side Eichel should have been on.

D-Lo is taking no prisoners!

THIS IS GREAT! The cameraman is going to break the camera's pivot following this action.

Yay, Samson!

Pull the goalie!!

When it comes down to making out, whenever possible, put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV.

I don't think he's changed the pairings much, just the third wheels.
-
I think the pairings have more to do with matching each others' speed rather than complimentary skill-sets. I don't think Bylsma's approach is working here, but, then again, I am a slightly impatient fan.

Great posts, folks. Leaves me with nothing to add.

Swamp was right when he observed that the Panthers were playing a heavy game. That might be the book against the Sabres for now, to deal with the Sabres' speed. It's such a young team, and everything is still new. Looks to me like Kane is playing a bit frustrated. Indeed, I think the team looks frustrated. They need to loosen up. It'll get there.

Revisiting one burning question about Terry — why did he buy the Sabres?

Of course, but to what end? Strictly business? Which, is cool, but, that still places him in the "I chose Buffalo to corner the market on high-end development. I will be Buffalo's god-king when I am done." category. ...and I'm okay with that. Almost jealous. -

For whatever reason, I can't get the search engine for this site to ever return reliable results. Or, in this case, results at all. But, the essence of this topic has been talked to death. I think, if memory serves, several people tried to say Pegula was doing this to become a god-king for the local area (meaning, he wants to re-boot the local economy and look good doing it). This, of course, was poo-poo'd by many others. The next obvious question is "why would he want to conduct an socio-economic experiment here?" -
It seems a lot of people seem to default to Samson as the guy who will sit out. The idea of this, though, is contrary to Murray's objective for the year as a growth/development year. I'm not going to look for quotes, he's said something to that effect enough since the summer. As discussed in das Rhindeheart thread, it's clear there is a split amongst the postership over the strategy for Samson's development. But, I just don't see Rinehard going to the AHL unless he starts to fall behind the rest of the bottom six, which I don't believe has happened.

Thanks, W, for picking up the baton and getting the GDTs going.
