  1. Your post seemed to imply that it’s naive to approach a strange car at night. If that is mistaken, ok. But if not, then what I said has everything to do with your post in that there are ways of assessing situations to ascertain threat levels, etc. If you don’t agree that paranoia prevents us from being engaged, fine. And I didn’t equate common sense with paranoia in the least. That is your judgement alone. And while my comment about Trump and the right wing media had nothing to do with your post per se and you are free to ignore it, I stand by my comment nonetheless. He and his admin are fear mongers that want us to be paranoid of each other, that need us to be paranoid of each other.
  2. Naive? No. Just capable of assessing situations without being governed by paranoia. As much as Trump and the right wing media want to scare us and convince us otherwise, we are not in a war zone and fellow citizens are not our enemies.
  3. Ever greet a new family moving into the neighborhood and welcome them? Ever see if there was anyone in that car parked down the street that may need help of some sort? Congratulations, you have a humanity instinct.
  4. Hitler, Franco, Mussolini et al were able to define who their enemies within were. Who are Trumps “enemies within?” Is it simply those who disagree with his politics?
  5. Per the bold, that’s what we should all aspire to. Our Constitution and the other ideals enunciated in our founding documents make that possible, imo. It’s not about agreeing with each other; instead it’s about living within a codified framework that makes disagreement tolerable.
  6. Agree entirely. But there can’t be many teams that would do well after losing three of their top players. Imo, quality depth is a problem for most teams in the league. Expanding to 32 teams has diluted the talent pool.
  7. You’re right. Perhaps I overstated it a bit. But those seeking to manipulate or “train” others certainly aren’t looking to tap into the vein of our better natures.
  8. The enemy within? You can take your pick of fascist leaders who’ve used this tactic. https://www.politico.com/news/2025/09/30/trump-military-cities-training-ground-00587977?cid=apn
  9. I’ll add that Trump is a racist pig to the list of his shortcomings.
  10. Those who are so easily manipulated or “trained” are hateful people to begin with.
  11. That’s just it: there can be no arguing which freedoms to protect. The Constitution makes that very clear. The old saying sums it up: I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend your right to say it. That holds true for the entire document. We are a nation with collective amnesia.
  12. Kicking and screaming inside Mrtka’s equipment bag.
  13. I think Lindy is conveniently making space for Mrtka to get his nine games.
  14. I hear that, but Drake Maye will never play a snap against Josh Allen.
  15. Unfortunately, Drake Maye is the real deal.
  16. That is great news. The Amerks defense just got better.
  17. I don’t think his game was ever predicated on being hard-nosed and rugged, either. Imo, his game was predicated on making smart decisions with the puck and being able to clear the crease and win battles in the corners when necessary. If clearing the crease and winning puck battles in the corners means “hard-nosed” then we can agree on that. In my mind, hard-nosed simply means being hard to play against. As in Benson is far more hard-nosed than Muel.
  18. Agree entirely about Power, disagree about Muel. I may be wrong, but I don’t recall anyone ever suggesting Muel’s game is predicated on skating and puck movement. He’s a plow horse out there and he ain’t that good at plowing, either.
  19. He’d be far better off in Rochester than in the WHL. Once again illustrating how these CHL rules are often detrimental to a player’s development. He is flourishing against grown men at the moment and imo, going against teenagers won’t do a damn thing for him.
  20. Must be much better coke in FLA.
  21. Nailed it perfectly.
  22. Quite the list of far right luminaries. Is there any doubt as to why the GOP doesn’t want these files released? Any doubt as to why Bondi, Patel, et al were compelled to lie about them? https://www.politico.com/news/2025/09/26/musk-bannon-thiel-epstein-documents-00582627
  23. Well, that didn’t last long. My bet is their affiliates heard from advertisers and they reversed course. https://www.foxnews.com/media/sinclair-ends-jimmy-kimmel-ban-after-sidelining-host-amid-charlie-kirk-controversy
  24. I sometimes get the impression that some in these parts are simply not too familiar with team sports in general and the NFL in particular. “Any given Sunday” is a reality proved time and time again.
  25. I agree. Missing Muel is almost like missing nobody at all.
