  1. Vintage RJ. Man, is he ever missed. Thanks for the clip.
  2. Not too shabby, especially when considering the crapfastic D being played in front of him. Yep. Let him cook.
  3. Amerks hung on for a 3-2 win. For long stretches of the 3rd, it looked like the Crunch were on an extended power play. Levi with a solid 35 save win. But it’s easy to see why the Crunch have been kicking Amerks butt all season; they are bigger, stronger, faster, and more skilled. I don’t like our chances if we should see them in the playoffs.
  4. The Crunch are a superior team with more speed and more skill, except between the pipes. Stopping 25 of the 26 shots he’s faced after two periods, Levi is the only reason the Amerks are leading 3-1.
  5. Sjalin paying dividends early as he scores on the PP. 2-0 Amerks and Levi standing on his head early.

    Pace of Play

Both Savoie and Kulich will get long looks in camp, but neither are a good bet to make the big club next season, imo. Perhaps they’ll surprise me.
  7. Wahlberg showed well at last summer’s development camp and I’m glad to see he’s getting a jump on the next level of his career in the AHL.
  8. Those games in hand won’t mean anything until they’re won by those teams ahead of us. That said, the larger point of my post is that they know what it’s like to be within striking distance at this point in the season and they should let that experience benefit them going forward. They know what’s expected and they shouldn’t be intimidated by some imagined “pressure” to perform at this point. It’s all part of the maturation process of a young team, but I’m tired of the “youngest team in the league” bs excuse for this team.
  9. Next season. We were in this same spot last year and I expect the players to have learned from that experience.
  10. If you see your shadow when you come out of the tomb, is it six more weeks of winter?
  11. Did I hear correctly on the radio this morning that one year ago today the Sabres were also seven points out of a playoff spot they ended up missing by one point? Really?
  12. He’s better than Clifton, Joker, and Power which automatically makes him a top pairing on this team anyway.
  13. It was interesting to see Byram on the half wall on the PP.
  14. I can only hope we are willing to pay that price. Unless he is playing injured, Jeff Skinner appears washed as a player. That said, I now expect him to score a hatty with a few apples thrown in the next game he plays.
  15. Do you find it strange that game threads would follow the same ebbs and flows of the games themselves? Stands to reason. The Sabres didn’t show up early and looked like crap after giving up the shorty to go down 2 zip in the first. We followed that up by missing golden chance after golden chance. It was frustrating to watch and I don’t think you can fault people for reflecting that in their posts.
  16. I’ll try: as soon as UPL made one save in a shootout, he was better than Lehner.
  17. It’s his body control. It’s night and day compared to earlier in the season. Very little wasted movement now, unlike the total spaz moments he used to have when he’d flip and flop all over or leave the crease entirely when going from post to post.
  18. We should get 4 points for beating them twice.
