The use of a coma before “too” is completely a matter of choice; there is no right or wrong way grammatically speaking, but I can see where others would choose not to use the comma there. Just a matter of habit with me. The other two commas in my sentence make perfect grammatical sense as they serve to emphasize my thought. Just wait until I start stringing colons and semi-colons together. Your head will explode, grammar cop.

I don’t see Scheifele being a fit with Trotz. Then again, if Ovie could adapt, perhaps he can, too.

Enjoyed listening to Appert’s post practice presser today. Among other things, he mentioned that Quinn, JJ, and Krebs have responded well to the physical challenges of Utica. Peterka led the team with 11 hits on Sunday, followed by Quinn with nine. That was nice to hear.

Who has Quinn been paired with most of the time? I noticed Biro with Krebs and JJ a lot in the little clips I’ve seen. If UTI is making it a point to defend Quinn, is it possible that’s why JJ and Krebs are being so productive? I did notice that Quinn was on the ice with Krebs and JJ for the game winner and picked up an apple on the goal. Anyway, I think Quinn will be heard from before all is said and done.

The biggest issue in negotiating rookie contracts is the issue of offsets; specifically the issue of remaining salary/bonuses if a player is released during the first four years of his contract.

I certainly agree that a bad D corps makes life tough for a goalie, but that doesn’t mean one can’t evaluate the goalie’s play separately. UPL has had some hot streaks where he looks fantastic and then stretches where he can’t stop a beach ball. I think he has issues and even if he managed to get thru a season without injury, I don’t see anything more than a 20 game backup at the next level.

He needs a good reason to stay and he’s certainly giving the Sabres a reason to give him one.
