  1. K-9

    Home record

    Casey’s couch.
  2. The Canes/Bruins first round series last year was just that. Seven games of punch and counter punch.
  3. I understand all that. As far as making a move just to try to get us in, it depends on the cost for the player involved and whether or not he’s just a rental. But this team, even with its worts, is knocking on the door as is, so I’m not convinced we need all that much anyway. And I’d rather spend the assets on a player that can actually help us make a longer playoff run and not just help us get to a point to be abused early on. I hope these guys can take a lesson from tonight, too. Chiefly, that they shouldn’t confuse effort with results.
  4. Barometer game failure. It’s all well and good that we are competing for a low playoff spot and I can appreciate that measure of improvement over prior years, but we are light years away from the likes of the Carolinas of the league. Which is why I don’t want KA to sell any part of the farm on a deal for a player who isn’t gonna be able to get us much closer to the league’s elite teams. It’s not the time to strike given how much farther we have to go.
  5. Oopie should sue his teammates for lack of support. They should be embarrassed.
  6. Let’s hope some actual practice time improves things.
  7. Do we not move into the 8th playoff spot with a win? Try rolling with a good vibe.
  8. This is another one of those “monkey off the back games.” Canes have had our number for a while now and we have to turn the tide. Great opponent, national tv, and a playoff spot on the line. No better time to announce our arrival.
  9. That’s a given as cultural and societal values and norms evolve. But the human emotion behind it all, the reason we ostracize others, never does. Your point about what was once acceptable and common is an interesting one. I have a hunch that what was once acceptable to some never was to others at the time. And it took many “woke” progressive movements to move forward societally. There are numerous examples throughout history. One could argue that our very creation as a nation was the result of a “woke” movement. Nothing new under the sun as the saying goes.
  10. Someone says or does something unpopular and said someone is then “cancelled.” That is the same “standard” that has existed since the first tribal banishment, shunning, excommunication, etc. Modern mass communication abilities and the rapidity with which this info can be disseminated is not relevant to the cause, which is nothing more than the same, age-old human emotion that seeks retribution against an individual or group that has said or done something we find offensive. “Wokeness” and “cancel culture” are simply nothing new.
  11. I’m intrigued by this concept of “modern standards of cancellation.” Personally, I don’t think the “standards” have changed since we were painting on cave walls.
  12. Granato is evolving, imo. He’s gone from “not sacrificing how to win consistently for one win” (his own words, btw), which was his way of saying that the kids need to play in as many tight situations as possible in order to develop and learn to win consistently, to shortening his bench frequently in third periods and trusting certain players in tight situations late in games.
  13. I can’t recall any team in any sport that plays the way their coach played like the Canes do. Every player on that team plays like Brind’Amour did. Every one of them. It’s no wonder they’re such a pain in the ass to play against.
  14. Was listening to One Bills Live earlier and they had a guest on (I forget who) and he attributes the poor refereeing to the league’s All Star Ref system which takes the highest graded officials from the regular season to work the post season. He said the none of the refs working the KC/Cinci game had ever worked together before. He said it was ridiculous to have that happen in a conference championship game. But that system is collectively bargained with the ref union and they would have to agree to change it. I agree that it needs to be scrapped as well.
  15. His full no move clause kicked in last July. They’re stuck unless he agrees to leave.
  16. Everything he does on the ice, everything, screams “leader by example.”
  17. I jinxed him.
  18. Love watching him play. Except against us.
  19. Did you somehow take my post to be a criticism of Cozens?
  20. To be fair, Eichel has only played 38 games. That said, Thompson, Dahlin, Tuch, and Skinner are all over a point a game and Cozens is tied with Eichel at .89 a game.
  21. Each individual O lineman is graded out each week by the coaching staff. There is absolutely no question they were outplayed. But I would bet money that the grades issued by the staff with the full context of the play calls and the individual responsibilities of every player on offense, including RBs, TEs, and WRs, differs from that of anyone in the media, perhaps greatly.
  22. Looks like our language fills you with woe.
  23. He actually blocked a shot? Puck must have hit him by accident.
  24. I’ll take a 1-1 tie after that type of period. Boys are gonna have to fight thru some fatigue and dig deep to win the 4th in 6.
