Can't argue with that and I must admit that I was surprised when not 1 or 2, but three different people close to the situation told me similar sentiments.
-
I have said it before and I will say it again, contrary to popular opinion, those close to the situation will tell you that his problem is he cares too much, that he is too hard on himself and takes all criticism too personally. That being said, its definitely time for him to move on.

Not sure were you see the half truths so I won't comment on that but you throw your opinion in on Dumont which I will challenge. Darcy chose Kotlik over Dumont when Dumont was developing into the forward with an edge that we had hoped for. He walked away from a deal for Briere that he later admitted to mis-judging the market place. He chose not to negotiate with Vanek even though Nathan Horton set the market(wouldn't want Darcy to ever be so bold as to set the market). These moves were all on him. Who was at fault with regard to 23 and 48 has been discussed ad nauseum and the truth lies somewhere between all the lies and half truths. All this set the team back till now were we are starting all over again with the same guy that continually mis-read the market and now admits to being wrong about the rebuilding plan that he orchestrated over the last 6 or 7 years.

Boy, talk about missing the point. Carry on it is somewhat amusing.

As much as I hate to, I have to agree with Deluca. Only the players can force, and enforce change. In fact. if I am not mistaken, any significant changes the GM's may try and implement would be subject to union approval.

Nice avatar, forgot about the Ric Seiling porn star look.

The Sabres Hockey Hotline with... somebody or other?
tom webster replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
We both know its unlikely any of the top 3 will move out and 4 through 7 will be difficult. What I am saying, to paraphrase Jerry Sullivan, I already wrote my post for 2015 listing the reasons why Darcy's plan didn't work. Here is a little excerpt; .....we thought we could turn the new currency we acquired into a top 3 pick. We misread the market place.......... -
The Sabres Hockey Hotline with... somebody or other?

Didn't take long to get that oldie but goodie out there. -
Damned if you do? Can even the apologist side admit that a new General Manager might be better? I have said it before, I like reading your stuff and some of it I even agree with. The frustrating thing to me is that there really is "common ground" but everyone is so afraid to admit it that we have to stake out polar opposite positions.

And the architect of plan A is the architect of plan B. Gotta love it.

It is not necessary, see the Hurricaines, Bruins and Red Wings as the three other teams to win a Cup post lock out. It worked for the Penguins and Black Hawks but the continued insinuation that that is all they did to win is just another chapter in the Darcy Book Of Excuses. Wish someone should ask him if all you need to do is bottom out, why do you need a general manager at all?

I don't but must admit I miss it at times. Unexpected by product of getting rid of it, my 9 year old now has a better phone then I do and I had to switch from a family plan to a business plan in order to add a 6th line. Oh well, story of my life, every attempt at saving money results in spending more.

If he/she works for the Sabres we are in a world of hurt, more then I ever expected, since he/she keeps telling us if we don't like it, leave. The truth is, however sad it may be, is that we can't leave. We have too much invested, and I'm not talking about money. It is a part of who we are and I'm not sure of what may be worse; that they know we can't leave or they don't know we can't leave?

I am a current season ticket holder(since 1996) and shared a suite for 10 years. I'm not sure that is relevant but the owner came in as a white Knight. I am not ashamed to admit I got caught up in it and even shed a tear at the thought that TP was going to be different. He told me money didn't matter. His representative tells me it does. He toid me the Stanley Cup is the only thing. He gave a flawed GM a contract extension. I feel I deserve an explanation, not because I have spent over $100K on this team over the course of my lifetime but because he made it personal!

Companies always want to issue negative press releases on a weekend, preferably a holiday weekend assuming it will get less press coverage.. In other words, he wanted to pat himself on the back for not waiting till the holiday. Don't be too hard on Ted. He apologized toward the end and I'm sure the lying only came out of frustration from not being able to answer truthfully.
-
I understand. I am just tired of the whole thing, I know he does bring some things to the table. He just shouldn't be our GM anymore.
-
So he has an excuse why he isn't as good as Chicago and Pittsburgh, then went to great pains to explain how LA used high draft choices to acquire Carter and Richards. He has the "my defense got blown up" to cover Carolina so I think all thats left to hear is how Boston, Anaheim and Detroit did it to cover all the post 2004 lock out teams that won the Cup. I think the " my owner was a criminal" and "we were bankrupt" covers the other years.

Thanks for the link. I'm surprised you pulled that quote out of the entire audio. Since I have such great respect for you I'll cut you some slack on a rather slanted view of what he meant. In my opinion he is right and while I can't speak for anyone else, I believe a majority of the fans agree with him. Also, while that entire conference went off the rails and both sides went over the line, I'm glad Harrington called him out about TP's availibility. I'm also glad that civility returned afterwards. As for the whole ticket price mailing, if it wasn't calculated, shame on them. If it was calculated, double shame on them. On the other hand Ted could have down himself a favor if he pointed out that while they always send out these notices at the end of April, the only reason it matched up with fan appreciation day this year was the shortened season.

Is that a direct quote and can you put that into context?

OK, so Larry Brooks is a joke and the Post isn't exactly the Times, but its not like anything in the article isn't public record. They blamed the increase on the new CBA and they had John Sinclair deliver the News. They have said with past increases that it was the result of the conditions to maximize revenue sharing. They didn't this time. It's the Pegula way, give us 3% interest to keep our money during the lock out, understand that most of us would just let it sit expecting to put it toward the playoffs and now raise the prices another 4%. On top of that, they will probably be about $10 million under an already artificially low cap and he will probably make enough money to pay for those ridiculous bonuses his GM for Life through around the last couple of years.
-
I still don't know where all this " he is an NHL prospect" started. He was unrestricted last year and no one was interested and the Sabres have shown littl interest in extending him this year again.

Sometimes you just take the words right off of my keyboard.

Burke and Smith won Stanley Cups, Maloney does wonders without any money and Snow has his team poised for long term success inspite of an idiot owner. There are probably another 10 candidates that could put together better resumes then DR if you would like more names.
