Solid? He's is already getting mentioned for pro bowl consideration. Look at New England's OL. They started a college free agent at center. To say that they haven't tried to fix the line given the number of picks and signings is ridiculous. You can argue if they chose the right guys and then I point back to how hard it is to find the right guy. As for McCoy's contract, I am going to leave my statement as it is. There was a lot more that played onto that and I fully expect him to play to the value of his contract through 2019 but if he doesn't it was a worthwhile investment in my book. I know how evaluations work and not sure what you mean in the contect of my statement anyway. The Pegula's will evaluate Whaley on his three years and may or may not choose to move on but his record of success will get him another job. I still don't understand all the talk about a step back this early in the season especially with all the injuries and the team starting to get healthy. His sticking by EJ may be his ultimate downfall.

1) people that keep referring to the McCoy contract just have no idea how contracts work in the NFL 2) offensive line play ranks right below QB's in NFL problem areas. It's an area of concern throughout the league. It's so bad that the Bill's line probably falls right in the middle of the pack. 3) WR's are fine when healthy 4) 6-10, 9-7, ? Not a bad start for most GM's A team that apparently hasn't tried to address the QB position, the OL or the WR and hasn't played one game with its starters is 8th in the league in scoring offense.

I'd like to see the exact wording of this rule. I know that it was out into the rule book in response to some of Hines Ward's hits but I thought it was blindside hits. That Woods block was not blindside. Pox had to see him coming as they were in direct path of each other. To me that's football. He didn't tsrgetbthe head. He didn't lead with his helmet...,,

I am still in the wait and see mode with this team but he is to me the biggest disappointment so far. I really expected him to come out flying with a "forget about me?" attitude.
-
I'm obviously on record as supporting Whaley but I do think he made a big mistake in handling the Cassell/Manuel situation and may have blinders on with respect to EJ. . I have no problem either way although I think he has done enough well to merit staying. What I hate though is the basing the decision on specific decisions. Its about the record! Darcy was about winning transaction when all that should be important is the overall product. Don't we want a guy who will take risk? That isn't settling for mediocre? Guys who make decisions and take risks are going to make mistakes.

The !969 Super Bowl winning Jets lost to the Buffalo Bills who were 1-12-1 that year. It doesn't matter who you lose to, they only count as one. You may be right, it might be folly to think playoffs but to suggest its impossible because they lost to the Jags is uninformed. Terms like "kind of game good teams win", "trap game" must win" will soon be stricken from our vocabulary

A) I wasn't going to freak out B) I'm not worried about Tyrod's injury yet because I don't think it as an injury tied to his stature C) McCoy is starting to come around and should be even better with some rest. D) When you list things like that it kind of does feel like there is not a lot of bright spots However, while I understand all the doom and gloom and depression over this team, it is a team that should be healthy coming out of the break and still with the ability to put themselves in solid position for a playoff spot heading into the last quarter of the season. It really is about the next two games and thats king of what I thought heading into the season. I didn't expect to get to this point the way they have, but...

I agree with you that Gillmore is awesome and a bright spot although hardly a "lone" bright spot. Today. however, wasn't one of his stronger efforts although still probably above average.

There have been many studies done but the problem as with most studies is that they tend to be less then objective. In an ideal world there would be no use of public funds to benefit any private enterprise and then there would be less need for all the layers of wasteful government ..... Another thread....

If I remember correctly, he had a few games against the Bruins besides that hat trick game that I am sure you are referring to. No doubt Cyr and Tucker were disappointmets as hockey players but the real damage they did was bringing the whole teeny bopper, hockey groupie scene to the Sabres games. Sorry for the sexism but there were some scary girls crammed into less then flattering Sabres jerseys all over the arena.

Funny thing, I recognize all those but if you put up a picture of last years draft class, I'm not sure I'd know anyone other then Sam.

He always typified the supreme underdog to me. Hardworking grunt, not the best looking guy but the kind of guy Championship teams need and more importantly, by all accounts., a true gentlemen and friend.

New year, tons of firepower, still cant score.

Me as well. I actually enjoyed a lot about yesterday's game. These things take a little time but I am supremely confident that this team is on the right track. Most fun I have had watching them in awhile. -

Was planning on going tonight but can't. Now have four awesome seats I can't use if anyone is interested. -
There was a little bit of sarcasm there. I wasn't a big fan of the trade either but I understand the logic of it in the context that until you find the quarterback, you load up everywhere else. Some of my best friends are heavy into that new logic that says never spend money on RB's and WR's. New England doesn't! Well. I'm pretty sure if a HOF'er falls into their lap, Buffalo won't either.

I know you don't judge your business interests in such a short term vacuum. I am as frustrated as you but its way too early to sell short.

Frustrated over the injury is the implication. This was going to be a big contract year for him and its not going well. A few things; 1) I still think they make the playoffs, a first step in the Ryan process, a third step in the Whaley process 2) penalties, as aggravating as they are, shouldn't really be an issue. Look at the penalty leaders from last year, one and two were in the Super Bowl. 3) don't understand why a lot of the same people that rip the Watkins trade are concerned about wide outs. Aren't they a dime a dozen?

This league is full of bad coaching, questionable personnel decisions and salary cap mismanagement. The only thing that really differentiates most of the team is the guy playing quarterback. All the analysts hate the thought that but it could be that simple but it really is. When Green Baty's defense gives up over 500 yards and hangs on by the skin of their teeth, it's all covered up by their QB. When New England drafts 45 defensive backs and finds one that can actually play, their QB bails them out. If Tyrod Taylor turns into a true franchise QB, Rex and Whakey will be heralded as geniuses for their foresight. If not their skills will forever sentence them to the NFL land of mediocrity.

Not a bad start!

And it might even been all true. Does everyone really think that he bought a $225 million on a whim or without having a complete analysis done? More likely he had some high priced versions of PA, Dudacek, DeLuca compile an expert analysis of his proposed purchase and is there any doubt that in a lot more complicated way they said; 1) Good PR 2) Could help with that NYS Fracking thing 3) Take attention away from the disaster that is Penn State 4) Give your wife something to do 5) Hey, it could be fun Not to mention a guaranteed return on investment, albeit not what you are used to.
-
I think that will eventually happen but I think they will be sensitive to the veteran leadership through Christmas.
-
Who you taking out if you put both McCabe and Bogo in? I think eventuallly McCabe plays but at first he will be the #7 when Bogo returns unless Pysyk just can't handle the left side.
-
I wonder if he is still scared. Hearing him talk about this, it seems like he may have more of a psychological reason to stay out rather then a physical one. He was already talking about changing his style of play. Who could blame him if he just wasn't sure he wanted to continue at all?
