  1. It seems to be the norm. I’ve noticed other teams doing the same.
  2. I don’t doubt that being you watched him. In Buffalo no one knew anything about him. Like Aud confirmed, it was.a nothing deal at the time but he quickly changed minds.
  3. No, google again. He scored 32 and had 17 with Phoenix before being traded. He was minus 20 and 21 when people cared about that stuff and if I remember correctly, Phoenix sent him down due to his defensive play. He was consider a one way, too small forward when acquired and his arrival was meant with a big yawn.
  4. It’s no different then loading up on draft choices. You fill Rochester spots and hope for that one outlier. If 15 or 16 years ago we had signed Daniel Briere instead of acquiring him in a trade, the reaction would have been the same.
  5. Well I called that offer sheet but what a ridiculous offer and how can JBOT justify not beating that?
  6. Exactly. It’s two hours into free agency and I like what they’ve done so far. Let everyone fill their cap space, grab value guys before the others are ready to work on that part of their roster. Two top six forwards are coming. Nope
  7. I thought you were referring to a club offering and a player turned down the offer.
  8. Have any of your guarantees been correct?
  9. There is no way of knowing when one was offered and turned down because no one is really going to confirm it. Only three recent I remember where Shea Weber and ROR and of course Vanek and all were matched. Of course most famous was Shanahan/ Scott Stevens deal.
  10. You realize that pre-Syd consisted of one and a half albums? While I love Barrett’s stuff, he’s the Daryl Talley of rock. So many people champion his cause that he’s become over rated.
  11. Because EROD is a lot better then you give him credit for. If they are smart they lock him up for four years at around $2.5M per year.
  12. As you said, I believe cap considerations are over rated but you have to be smart. I don’t think you can pay Sam, Skinner and Hoffman all $9M and still have a viable 2nd center.
  13. You really want three wingers making $9M or more going forward? I think that only works if you can count on Casey and Dylan being centers two and three on ELC and Bridge. Otherwise you’ll have five forwards making about $47M if you find a second line center at $10M.
  14. I’m starting to think that Aho might get an offer sheet. Lot of Carolina rumors regarding other centers.
  15. I know I’m the guy that says wingers are interchangeable but I’m not comfortable trading Risto for a left winger
  16. I apologize if I missed it but can I get a couple of examples of your ideal trade scenario?
  17. Ok, I guess I did miss something. Thanks for the explanation. This is similar to what I had said earlier about JBOT learning from his mistakes. He was hell bent on trading ROR no matter what. I think he’ll wait for his price with Risto.
  18. Except when I think he confused Duchene for O’Reilly or am I missing something upthread?
  19. The best way to fix the bottom six is to make Casey, VO and Erod the third line and Sheary, Lars and Kyle the fourth line. You do that something like this; Line One Zucc- Eichel- Kessell Line Two Skinner - ?? -Sam
  20. I feel like I might be going a little obnoxious on this point, but unless someone personally know the player or his family, nobody knows what motivates any specific person. Players, more then anyone, know how random playoffs and playoff success can be. Unless one of the top four or five teams are fighting for you, chances of playoff success falls below financial security for a lot more over thirty year old players then you might think. Again, not all of them and I guess that’s the point
  21. Thanks for the well thought out rebuttal. I admit I was wrong. First factually, as he had two seasons over 16, not one. Second, he’s obviously better then I thought.
  22. I don’t hate the idea but I don’t like the contract numbers I’m hearing.
  23. I guess I don’t get the Zucc love I read everywhere. The guy has scored over 16 goals exactly once.
  24. Yes and the belief is he’s the kind of center that needs someone to get him the puck. Good skater, good shot, not much of a playmaker. It seems that while they don’t see Sam as a center, they do feel he can drive a line from the wing. Still think they are aiming higher, but Turris is an option and would be a cheap acquisition in terms of assets.
