  1. I believe they consider Kyle Turris as their fall back. They believe he’s the type of center that could thrive with Sam on his wing.
  2. It’s really too bad with Malone. Injuries killed him. He had definite NHL potential.
  3. Thanks for clarifying.
  4. I don’t necessarily disagree on how you might classify Jack but it doesn’t change the timeline for me. The window is still Jack’s prime years. He doesn’t have to be “generational” in your mind to change that window. The time to start winning is now, next year at the absolute latest.
  5. Other then Cousins, what future wouldn’t you trade to be good now? We are in year 5 of Jack, the time to win is now.
  6. For the record, Campbell only played two and a half seasons in AHL and his call ups in years one and two were twelve and eight games,
  7. Obviously it’s a long shot but when a 34 year old player faces reality, an extra year and a few million dollars might mean something. I just have problems with absolutes. Nobody knows what motivates different individuals.
  8. Most, but not all wingers can play either side. Sam played a lot of left wing early on, Skinner played RW for large stretches in Carolina. Sometimes it’s a coaches preference.
  9. Talking about Colin Miller, defenseman got Vegas.
  10. I was hoping that was just a bad translation.
  11. It’s funny how a respected analyst like Corey Pronman can disagree with a pick but admit that others are high on said pick and admit he may be wrong while others see things as black and white. This isn’t a science. After about pick two no one knows anything about these kids. I admire your passion and your analysis but it’s all just an educated guess.
  12. Wasn’t Faulk thought of the same way as Risto by the analytics guys?
  13. You do realize that a) other player has to agree b) the money will likely be significantly more.
  14. Ok, now that I would not like.
  15. And that makes absolutely no sense
  16. So just so I’m clear, some on this board don’t want to give up a third round draft choice to acquire a player that we would all be thrilled with if the third round draft choice turned into in five or six years?
  17. And is there a reason they can’t trade for Vesey and sign Donskoi?
  18. I thought we wanted a third liner who could score 35-40 points and not look terribly out of place if he has to fill in on the top two. If Vesey is our third liner and Sherry is our fourth liner I think you are in pretty good shape.
  19. Keeping if not keeping Teravainen had little to no impact on their record.
  20. You know better. They chose to keep the wrong guys and mis read the cap going forward. Larry Quinn is still waiting to take advantage of those cap strapped teams.
  21. Cap mismanagement is not the biggest factor resulting in the closing of the window. Aging core is the biggest reason and the inability to replace core on the fly. The Blackhawks are a perfect example. They won three Cups, made some mistakes but what could they have done differently that would have resulted in better results the last couple of years?
  22. It’s not just the NHL. Cap manipulation has become an art form.
  23. I continue to wait for the first impact player to be lost due to cap restrictions. Maybe it will be Marner but I’m not betting on it. I have been hearing the same thing since Andy Messersmith joined the Braves.
  24. I most definitely think there are bad gm’s But I think even a bad GM, if he has options, is going to shop an asset around the league. Then you either believe that all the “good” GM’s felt they couldn’t beat Buffalo’s offer, or you believe that the market was limited by Skinner’s desires to stay near Toronto.
