  1. That's basically it. The same trap the prequels fell in to. If I had known it was just going to be a bunch of CGI window dressing I'd have waited for the Redbox.
  2. I tried. I tried to just relax and be entertained. It just wasn't any good.
  3. The prequels are bad, but they could have been better with less cgi and better acting. And a little less George Lucas. The original trilogy is charming in its simplicity. Those movies aren't masterpieces, but they are fun. Movies have become over the top in recent years. Everything is super heroes doing super things with no limits. Star Wars should be an oasis, maintaining that character of the original trilogy. They did okay with that in Force Awakens. This movie has no charm. It's just a special effects held together by some good Luke Skywalker scenes. If Star Wars movies are going to go the way of Star Trek, Marvel, Transformers, etc., then I guess I'm out. Asking for something a little different is apparently too much.
  4. This is just flat out incorrect.
  5. My bar is very low. I like Waterworld. As a Star Wars nerd, I don't think this movie is a crime against Star Wars. Like I said, the important parts are good. I like what they did with Luke. Nothing about this movie bothers me from a "ohhhh that's not canon!" perspective like I'm sure a lot of other Star Wars fanbois are crying about, with the exception of . I wanted it to be different and good. It's just a bad movie at the most basic level. It's badly made. If it wasn't Star Wars I bet more people would hate it, but there's a lot of pressure to be a Star Wars fan now that it's "cool", so of course not liking it is going to be the unpopular opinion. We'd be shitting all over it if Michael Bay made it and it was called Transformers.
  6. Right. And that's the problem. They decided to try to make it something that it isn't. It's always just been space nazis vs space samurai. Simple plot, some space battles, a little mysticism, dramatic tension, and some heroics. These aren't difficult things to get right. It's supposed to be fun. Now, I don't have a problem with them deviating from the traditional Star Wars formula. But if you're going to do it, do it well. Yuuupppp.
  7. All I wanted was a good movie. Instead I got a bad movie. *shrug*
  8. It was a movie that wants you to know how intellectual it is so it keeps telling you it's intellectual, instead of actually just being intellectual.
  9. See, I don't want Marvel comics. We have too many of those movies already, and they're all just kinda okay. I want Star Wars. This wasn't Star Wars. It was just another generic superhero action movie based on Star Wars.
  10. I'm going to spoiler tag this for now because there's a lot of stuff. Click to read.
  11. If we're doing spoilers then...I have a lot to say.
  12. :(
  13. It was bad.
  14. We all know Nylander has talent. It's just a matter of developing a game that translates past "being good at U20".
  15. Group home? It's tough but it's also a huge help. We had to put my aunt (Downs, in her late 50's now) in one about 6 years ago and honestly it's improved her quality of life. They keep her busy and help her work and she comes home on the weekends so it's not like she doesn't see the people she's lived with her whole life (my grandpa and my spinster aunt).
  16. You mean there is enough evidence of a multi-sport conspiracy against the city of Buffalo to establish Lehner's comments as facts?
  17. His statements are conjecture. "Honest" is probably the wrong word.
  18. Sounds like propaganda to me.
  19. I don't buy in to the idea that a coach needs to be a dramatic blowhard to get his players going. Find me NHL coaches who throw tantrums and berate their players? Maybe that stuff works for guys like Patrick Roy coaching Juniors, but it isn't going to work on grown men. It's been said repeatedly, going back to the first Eichel season, that this stuff needs to come from the players. Now that we've had a coaching change and it's still the same, I believe it. If Housley was shielding this team from losing, we'd be playing Dan Bylsma hockey. Housley is just letting them lose and unfortunately losing isn't moving the dial for some of these guys. What else can you do after that?
  20. Dude has only ever played in Ottawa. I doubt his experience there was much different than here to be honest. I think if you look at comments from players who are new to the team this year, like Scandella and Nolan, what you see is not that the Sabres are treated differently by the league, it's that the Sabres are culturally f*cked compared to other teams.
  21. It's one thing to be all "Because Buffalo" if you've lived here and suffered it your whole life. There's nothing wrong with taking decades of Buffalo sports fanhood and developing a complex. Lehner is in his 3rd season here. He's not allowed to have that attitude yet. If Kyle Williams still believes in the Bills then Lehner has no excuse.
  22. Yup. That's the thing here.
  23. Because Buffal----
  24. It's for sure loser mentality. But we just got over a weekend where everyone was calling on Pegula to wag his dick at the league over the Bills TD callback, so I gotta think he was channeling that a bit. Gotta think he watched the game and it was part of the locker room talk. My suggestion to Robin is to do like the rest of us: turn the Bills off. :P
