You can't say they don't make it interesting.

This rivalry should be the cat's PJs bit isn't. Too bad. Different division throughout history hasn't helped. Only two playoff meetings, too. As for Ferguson I think that's the last time I cried after the Sabres got knocked out. End of an era for the franchise and for me personally I suppose. I was just shy of becoming a teen.

I caught Krebs doing it last night in the third. It almost looked like Quinn was trying to shy away from it. 1:51 left offensive zone faceoff down a goal, you pull the goalie. Every coach every league. DG didn't. Why? Can you connect the dots between that coaching decision and the lack of desperation you rightly point out?

I can never enjoy 7 8 9 or more goal outbursts... There's always a price to be paid. Also feline AIDS is the biggest killer of domestic housecats. You know the answer.

I found it! Google sabres penguins comeback perreault. A TBN link comes up for a story on a Sabres comeback recently in Chicago. The story has info on other big comebacks. The Pens game was in 1976. I copied the text, or thought I did, but lost it in cyberspace. When I went back to TBN, it was paywalled.

The Sabres were down 6-1 in the second period at home against Boston in 1983 and roared back to win 7-6. It is the greatest comeback win in their history. So I don't think the Pens could have been up by five in the third period (if the Sabres came back to win). I'll look season by season in my media guide for a game that might fit the bill.

It was theater of the mind. Back to the point... A long shot... Right on! Which point? What kind of shot? Glove save? You had to conjure it up. He was a caricaturist, not a sketch artist.

Food for thought: in the Jeanneret timeline this is approximately 1981 for Dan. Was Rick Rick in 1981? Was he entrenched and beloved? Were his calls broadcast around the continent as emblematic of the Sabres? Did he have only a niche following, with most of the fans preferring Ted? Now, Dan is 57 so he doesn't have the time that Rick had to call May Day in 1993 and go on TV in 1996 and really take off as "RJ." But there is room for growth in Dan and in the fans' hearts... Just as there's room for the team to grow, which of course is the defining factor in Dan's ultimate legacy. If the Sabres win Cups under Dan, we will weep at his retirement as we draw our little Dans, Danielles and Dunleavies against our hips.

How many Norris Trophies will Dahlin win?

Harrington plays a big role here IMHO. -
It's in my DNA... Moments like last night take me to the play by play guy. I tracked down Dan's calls of Tage's five goals. It wasn't that easy. Nothing on sabres.com. I found them on WGR's site by playing a postgame podcast and advancing 15 seconds at a time until I got to the plays of the game at 31:10. They were good calls. Dan has another level. I think he tries very hard not to be Rick. And I think at his core is the idea that only the biggest moments deserve the most excitement. Fine, but we're not used to that, and any big goal even in a meaningless game (and there have way too many of those) deserves a big call. Anyway, what does everyone think of the calls? In the end I think if Dan recalibrates himself a little and is a little less principled, he might just be a pretty good fit for Sabres fans.

Are the Sabres out of the running for the playoffs?
PASabreFan replied to inkman's topic in The Aud Club
Put another way and perhaps making it sound more achievable, are the Sabres a 103 point team the rest of the way (if adjusted for a full season) rather than the 78 point team they've been so far?
