We get the craziest thunder storms out here. We had one roll through at around midnight last night. The lightning was rapid fire. You know how the sky is dark during a storm and then it occasionally lights up due to lightning? Well last night it was the other way around, the sky was lit up and it occasionally turned black.

I'm still under the belief that they agreed to not send him to the AHL when they signed him out of school. There's nothing legally binding about it, but they're honoring their word. I have a hard time coming up with any other explanation for him not getting some time there towards the end of the season.

He's buried off in the corner table out of frame with Bylsma and Rolston, with Housley lurking in the distance. Edit: On another note, I'm surprised Lindy's not in there. I feel like he'd probably go well with Marty.

As long as the salary is below $1.075 million, it has no cap hit if sent to the AHL... and that's only on a one-way deal. Two-way deals automatically do not hit the cap if sent down.

An unfavorable outcome for a guy with a career line of 7-15-22 over 106 games played? What would that have been $800k? Whatever it was, it wasn't going to impact the cap at all if/when he's in Rochester.

I'd be curious though as to why he'd avoid arbitration in order to sign a one year, one-way deal for the league minimum. He must be getting a better number on the AHL end than he would have otherwise.

This is one case where it's a shame that they don't have the baseball system of one offer or the other. He's worth a lot closer to the team figure than he is to his figure.
