I’m on board. They’re too young.

There's also the timing issue. If you're moving the pick, it needs to happen now. The prospects, you have a lot more time there. I know there could be plenty of debate over whether or not it's a viable strategy, but if you want to see what shakes free after free agency, the draft pick does not enter that equation. I completely agree that something has to be moved in the next month, preferably a lot of things. They have to realize that at this point. But then again they should have realized that two years ago but didn't. Hopefully that new voice in the room is a strong one.

And there are plenty of other pieces that you can use to make a move for today. Keeping the draft pick doesn’t mean they’re not looking for help today. Some of these other pieces probably have more trade value than #9.

Sabres announce Jarmo Kekalainen Hired as Senior Advisor
shrader replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
In terms of the job itself, that doesn’t really matter at this point. He didn’t choose to be here back then, but he did this time. But still, the hiring does absolutely nothing for me… nothing positive or negative. He has no experience and he’s pretty much just a blank page at this point. It could go anywhere. -

Yes, I should modify my original statement. The advisor itself didn’t fail, but for whatever reason, that advisor-advisee relationship failed. That needs to be fixed. There’s nothing left for me to say at this point other than “hopefully it works”. I can’t do anything about it and I’m not going to invest any extra energy into worrying about it. -

And his NHL-recommended hires failed miserably. His advisor, the NHL failed him. Hopefully Jarmo is finally the right advisor. -
Forsling posing for a picture with his family and the cup and his infant/toddler child will not face the camera, can’t stop staring at the cup. I love that they keep the cameras rolling so long so we can see this stuff in the background.

And that injury probably gets them Marchand and Jones too.
-
Let’s face it. Being able to do it that way is incredibly rare. Very cool though. Seth Jones didn’t really look like he cared all that much, which was odd to see. Maybe that’s just his demeanor.

Florida beats them in 5 next year.

I hope Kane bet on Florida tonight.

Remember when we hated on the team for switching to video scouting?

That Sabres logo had an eyebrow instead of a horn.

Rasmus Dahlin Named to Sweden's Preliminary Olympic Roster
shrader replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Landeskog has to be a big surprise in that list. But then again, do these list really mean anything at all? They can change these people out easily enough. -
They’re bowing to the NBA. When they take an extra day, the NHL does too to avoid going head to head.

Chad D: expect a Byram trade at or around the draft

Fan suggested trades? Was it thewookie1.com? -
Chad D: expect a Byram trade at or around the draft
shrader replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Yeah, the rest of it sucked, but it looks better together today than it did one year after the trade. I shouldn't have to spell this out for anyone. Again, I picked a poor example I guess since it's a sensitive topic around here. The results of a trade change over time and it's not a competition between the two teams involved. I'd actually say its the exact opposite. Both want to gain from it and that can and has happened plenty of times. The gold standard would probably be Iginla for Nieuwendyk. I doubt that Calgary fans give two shits that Dallas won a cup after that deal. -

Again, all of this is not the point. I knew I shouldn't have mentioned that trade for these exact reasons. But all I'm trying to say is that the return of a trade will look different as time passes. One year after that trade it looked very bad. Today? We have the most prolific goal scorer this franchise has seen in 30 years. Judging McLeod/Savoie today? It's mostly pointless (but at least it's better than a day 0 judgement). -

Selective reading sure is fun, isn’t it? -

Just like Edmonton didn’t trade for Savoie for just 2024-25, Buffalo didn’t do that for McLeod either. I sure do love one year trade assessments. I’m not making any statement about winners and losers when I say that the O’Reilly trade sure as hell looks a lot different today than it did in 2019. -
To be fair, this is the first time they’ve been able to buy one.

Have they actually drafted any Penn State player other than Brett Murray?

Friedman- Sabres looking to move prospects for players

I’d love Rakell just so I can continue to joke about him making a long journey from Milan to Minsk. -
So one season just like his last go around?
