  1. Thanks MattPie. Don't think I can make it to Lancaster Brewing Co. tonight as that's almost an hour drive from where i'm at (Mechanicsburg, PA to be more precise). I looked on the google machine and it looks like there are a few Aroogas Sports Bars that I might check out and if not there's always a Buffalo Wild Wings which I know will have the game. Not sure if you have any input but I don't really want anything more than a beer and a tv.
  2. Not sure i've ever heard that one before. I can't tell if today being 'dildoes' is a good thing or a bad thing. I guess it all depends on your perspective...
  3. For some reason I thought the NHL had 32 cities. Maybe i'm still stuck on football and the NFL (I blame Ray Lewis)... Upon a little wikipedia research, it appears as if the MLB, NHL and NBA all have 30 teams while the NFL has 32. Seems odd that all the other leagues would land on an odd number of teams per conference...
  4. Not sure how I am going to catch this one as I am travelling for work and am stuck in Harrisburg, PA for the week. Maybe I can find a good sports bar or something that happens to have NHL Center Ice. In terms of the actual game, I am really excited to see Grigorenko's first game as an actual sabre tonight. that's about all I am excited for as they have looked sluggish the last three games. Show me something tonight...
  5. My buddy lives in the Phoenix area and about 20 minutes before the game just up and decided to go to the Coyotes game. No problem and no traffic - got there in time fo rpuck drop with sweet seats. Can't imagine that situation happening in any of the other 31 NHL cities.
  6. LGR just played me (Touched by Boyes) last week so you can figure it out that way... I think his name was Ruffians or something
  7. I'm pretty impressed with my showing too. when I finished the draft I did not think I had a powerhouse lol. Hopefully it continues though the rest of the season.
  8. Based on the rumblings from the coaching staff and DR, it sounds like last year was Adam's shot at the NHL and it seems that his opportunity is passed. I think they will recycle Adam by trading him for someone else's failed prospect and have the cycle repeat all over again
  9. I knew he would be good someday!!! lol Glad to hear that Lindy is not planning on changing the lines up, as that has been something that has been a criticism of mine in the past. Give the lines a chance to develop some chemistry and work through thier problems - it's the only way to build confidence instead of looking for the escape route of 'if it doesn't work no worries the coach will just change the lines'...
  10. I'm really torn on this one. I can definitiely see the flashes of skill in there but he doesn't seem to be confident in knowing where and what he should be doing, which to me looks more like a system thing than anything else. I have been impressed with his defensive zone play and really wish he could get more minutes (and expect he will) when Leino and Ott are back to being his full time linemates. The Gerbe/Hecht combo on his wing is not helping him as he did not practice with them much during the training camp week. My only thought in sending him back to juniors is the baseball fan in me, where often times big prospects are kept in the minors to save a contract year. Is 40 something games worth using up a contract year? Not sure...
  11. I am aware and pointed out as much in the GDT for the Leafs game. I'm just saying let's not think of our team as world beaters just yet because we're 2-0 and Carolina is 0-2. Anyone who doesn't think that the primary reason we won the Leafs game was Miller's strong play? It certainly wasn't the Sabres outplaying the Leafs, and common perception around here is that our neighbors up north aren't going anywhere this year.
  12. This is my sentiment, especially since if you look at recent success in the playoffs and regular season, quality centers and center depth seem to be the indicator of consistent success. So IMO I would trade a winger for a center every time...
  13. Two games does not a celler-dweller make. I would be weary of just chalking up the four points here as gimmies. The Carolina team made some big moves in the offseason and while it hasn't paid dividends yet, they have the ability to win games. Especially after the Sabres were out shot and outplayed in the third of the Leafs game.
  14. That's funny cause I was just reading the National Post while I was in Toronto for work and they were raving how the new Lupul contract was going to be good long term and that his injuries in the past are not going to continue. Two days later...
  15. Took me an hour and 15 minutes to get into work. My commute is normally less than 15 mins. Geez - what are we living in the south, its just a little snow
  16. Good for him, however it should be said that the Canucks team is a mess right now in the forwards. It is pretty much Sedins and that's it. Kesler coming back in a few weeks should help but they aren't the stacked team that they used to be...
  17. I know everyone keeps bringing up Luke Adam from last year, but when I watched them last year it always seemed that Adam was just riding the coattails of Vanek and Poms and lucked into some garbage goals on rebounds and such. Based on the two game eye test (small sample size withstanding) it looks like Hodgson has as much to do with the success as either Vanek or Poms. He has created turnovers and put players in position to score with passing and aggressive play. I think back to when Hodgson drove the net on that 3-on-2 last night and Pomminstein had all week to line up his five hole goal.
  18. Yeah it's nice to see. Come to think of it, both of the Sabres fighters tonight looked like they were having a blast doing it. The days of fearful 'get it over with' fights seem to be ending...
  19. It was a 10 min misconduct. He was back by midway through the third...
  20. Good. Kaleta was the one player that may have taken the new 'were tough, i'll show you' motto a bit too far. The mugging after Miller got run in the second = good, roughing penalty late in the third = bad
  21. like dEnnis said, hopefully it is just a fatigue thing on back to back games. We all hate the prevent defense :wallbash:
  22. We're certainly going to see a lot more games like this IMO, since there will be plenty of teams hanging on for dear life on the tail end of back to back games
  23. Well that was... exciting? for the last time Lindy, alamo mode prevent defense loses you games and shutouts!! Good call there. Luckily it was with like 10 seconds left... Geez, the Leafs absolutely murdered us on the dot that last period.
  24. seems she's claimed. Guess the board will keep harrassing chz
  25. They speculated it was an injury but nothing specific mentioned. Thought the Buffalo broadcast may have mentioned more but it is Sylvester tonight so no shock there
