  1. Well look on the bright side, we might be the best team in the league at no-contact pond hockey soon! ;)
  2. That's why I don't understand why some people are flipping. We traded our best prospect who in his NHL experience looked very raw and seemed to have little hockey sense for a better prospect who has scored 33 pts this year in his rookie year and a position of need in center. Yes it would have been great to package gragnani, ellis and a pick for Hodgson and keep Kassian, but that aint happening. This is about as good as you can do to get Hodgson
  3. He has 8 PIM on the year and a whopping total of 25 hits per tsn.ca I know those arent the end all be all of toughness stats, but he's no pat kaleta. That said he is/was VAN's top prospect.
  4. As a frequent traveler for work, the 'fast casual' chains are my go to. Anytime I can find a Salsaritas/Moe's/Chipotle or a Subway I usually go there over the greasy burger places. Keeps me from weighing 300 lbs. :D
  5. Refer to my post upthread. I don't think a small player can be a third liner (unless you are running the three offensive lines strategy circa Buffalo post-lockout). They either make it as a second line scorer averaging 50-60 points a year, or they are not roster worthy. There's no point in having a smaller player in the 3rd/4th line as a checking line player. IMO you are either good enough or you aren't. Bigger players have the luxury of not having to be as skilled and still making NHL rosters. Glad to see Taro agrees with me
  6. I knew that response was coming, and I specifically used boston as the reference because they won the cup. Would you rather me look and compare to the Bruins system or the Blue Jackets? This discussion is probably better served looking at all the small players in the NHL and seeing what teams and roles they play in. I named Marchand earlier as a 60 point guy on the B's second line. Any others?
  7. Good discussion here guys. I think the bolded points are the keys here. When you look at the cup winning Bruins, they have size all over the roster with one small player (Marchand). The point is that Marchand has been succeeding on that team because he has the skill and speed to overcome his size limits and he is a chippy/dirty player to prevent larger players from starting something with him. Smaller players have a place in this league, but IMO, it is only players that have top 6 scoring prowess and are fast enough to avoid getting their clock cleaned. The only player on the Sabres that fits that mold IMO is Ennis. He has the skill and speed to put up the points needed to make the smaller player worthwhile. While it's hard to admit since everyone loves Gerbe, but he doesn't seem to have the production level of a top 6 player - making him a small third line grinder. Not gonna cut it on a cup contending team. With that said to mirror the Bruins (which may or may not be the plan), you keep Ennis and get value for Gerbe and Roy.
  8. Well it was Moe's Mondays... which is what I had last night ;) I'm a sucker for free queso and guac
  9. A big week at the hands of Zamboners vaults me into contention for that #8 seed. Finally getting healthy and I think I might have a chance at making it. Three weeks isn't a lot of time though... Still think I need a defensemen or two to upgrade Bergeron/Enstrom... i've been getting killed in blocked shots/hits every week...
  10. Glad to see i'm not the only one that uses the 9 point scale... So much more effective
  11. Working from home today allowed me to go out with the guys last night. Darts, pool and cheap pitchers. Felt like I was in college all over again... just don't tell my boss this morning...
  12. It's awesome if it accompanies your yearly (hopefully) pay raise... Another thing that is awesome is finishing up your work for the week on Thursday so you can "work from home" on Friday :D
  13. Yeah but everytime I go into a McDonalds I feel all gross inside. It's like my stomach knows it's about to have a rough night of the McGurgles...
  14. I see some overlap there... at least hopefully ;)
  15. I'm gonna fight the good fight. It was the first incarnation. It takes a few weeks for a thread like that to develop it's own distinct personality. Now that Tasty Hug Tuesday thread... oi vey
  16. I think she sort of figured it out. All the hottest celebs (IMO) are the ones that are pretty reserved in public and don't wear next to nothing in public. That whole Britney Spears/Lindsay Lohan/Paris Hilton crotch slip trend was more repulsing than attractive. Let us use our imagination ladies... 9 times out of 10 you look better in our minds than anything you could wear in real life
  17. I just don't want my first 1000 to go down as me arguing with shrader's 11,000+ on the merits of Complaint Thursday. I mean, WTF is that all about ( :nana:) I'm going over to the boobies thread where I belong...
  18. Fine, well i'm gonna support my baby and put my bad driving and wal-mart observations in my thread. So there. How can anyone really complain after such a sound victory last night? It's like complaining that your girlfriend got second place in the Miss America competition. I don't want to hear it :nana:
  19. I tried to make it different enough to respect the tradition of the Complaint Thurdays thread. but it seems you can't make everyone happy...
  20. Well I mean the last update made the team go off the page, so there isn't much fun looking at a downward trend that we can't even see (Unless Carp is a glutton for punishment and changes the axis :nana:)
  21. Love that song LGR. By the way, the result of my little expiriment had me singing Nelly for the next week or so. So chz wins (as usual)
  22. Yeah I don't know if I will have enough to salvage the hole of the team I took over. The underperforming/injured studs I picked up continue to underperform and sit on IR
  23. I'm especially impressed with the three shutouts. Thats a tough stat to fill.
  24. Wahoo! The pats lose! It wasn't really a great played game but I was certainly entertained. Good for Tom Coughlin (Syracuse grad). Except for that annoying guy who kept announcing what numbers he needed to win his super bowl pool. Great dude, lemme watch the game.
  25. Had a nice mango mahi mahi at river city brewing in jacksonville fl. Sometimes work trips can be nice...
