Maybe I am offbase here, but this is how I view the religious problems. you can't attract hundreds or thousands of followers if you just outright lie about the book you are holding up as holy. There has to be some elements of truth in what you are preaching compared to the book. That is not to say your interpretation or theirs is right, hell people still claim LotR is a alligory for WW2 even thou JRRT had said it was not. Also the only way to stop islamic extremism is by the islamic community policing there own. There is no way a majority christian army and society will inact meaningful change within islam and that goes for all religions even you catholics hating on married gays

perhaps it is just me and the people I know and talk to...... but the whole picking sides label doesn't fit the people i know. the times I do hear people using it, is always because I disagree with one of their beliefs. I have beliefs that goes right across the political spectrum but I am registered a democrat and it for the same reason someone else said. until the primaries are open election I will be registered for one of the big 2 so I can have a vote in it.
