Sabres Re-Sign Craig Anderson to 1 Year 1.5 Million AAV Extension
Taro T replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
No. -
No games canceled/ postponed. (Would go bolder & say that will be true leaguewide.) Mittelstadt gets at least 60 points & likely 65.

Had this thread been open the entirety of Thursday would've had a pretty good rant about ERs and lack of communication therein and how it could turn a 2 hour stay prior to hospital admittance into a nearly 6 hour stay prior to it. But am too tired from only 3 hours of sleep to bother. So, guess that's the complaint - too tired to complain.

Sabres Re-Sign Craig Anderson to 1 Year 1.5 Million AAV Extension

Anderson & UPL penciled in as the 4 & 3 respectively would be better, but isn't realistic. Was hoping that they'd have a true #1 AND a better #2, but Adams was on record as stating this was something he hoped would happen, so am fairly blase about it. If they really can hold his starts to 25 or fewer he might actually be a good backup but am expecting him to be a 'meh' backup. And agree that the timing of this is fine. Understand why people would have liked this to be announced after a starter is signed, but unless that guy is coming via trade it couldn't happen for 2 more weeks and most teams willing to trade a goalie probably expect the best bang for their buck at the draft. Once the paperwork gets to the NHL office, the signing becomes public the next day, so the only realistic way to hold off the announcement is to not put pen to paper. And if they do that, maybe Anderson decides to walk away from the deal in the interim. Adams seemingly got bit last year by having what he thought was a deal in place just minus the signature. No way he makes that mistake again. You don't have a deal until the ink is dry. Another 'meh' move. But now they officially have a battery of goalies signed: Anderson & Bishop. Which would've been a very good tandem about 10 years ago. ð -
Nice signing. He's a good AHLer and could help if the parent team has a rash of injuries.

Nice story. But did you ever have the team president call you asking you to not give up your seasons & answer your questions for 20+ minutes? ð

What contract do you think is right for Victor Olofsson?
Taro T replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Yes. Granato or Adams (can't remember which) confirmed he'd been playing with a broken hand after it had fully healed. -
Wonder if that's because he's still mulling whether to sign this off-season or if it's to give 4 other teams a good look at him in a non-NCAA setting.

If he'd go for it, that would be the deal IMHO. -
Kim Pegula suffered a Cardiac Arrest;Has residual Aphasia and Memory Issues

Thanks for that. ðš -
5-12 you say. Hmm ...

That did not age well. (Or maybe it does.) Condolences to the Pegula family & the entire Sabres, Bills, & Bandits families. That's a huge loss for all. Mrs. Pegula, please RIP. Hoping the struck through above was horribly premature.

True. And as much as Drury's legacy as "Captain Clutch" has been immortalized, he is still the guy that missed the wide open net in the 1st period of game 7 with the game still scoreless. It was a tough angle, but Tuch buried it from a slightly tougher angle.
-
Really wouldn't read much of anything into Mrs. Pegula's condition based upon her daughter going to work. Probably safe to assume (very thankfully) that her demise isn't immediately imminent, but not much else to be read into it.

He might, & that is the hope. Stated flat out without being in the room don't know how he's different in there than in the public. But showing young kids how to be a pro & unifying a room don't necessarily translate to getting in guys faces nor telling management that Satan is a cancer and he needs to be on the next bus out of town. (And not saying necessarily he can't be that guy. Just that it hasn't been demonstrated publicly to be in his wheelhouse.)
-
A 1st rounder? Can the Loafs afford that kind of a hit to their pipeline for that little of a haul? Surely a conditional 3rd in 2 years would be more appropriate, right? ðĪŠ

Why Zadorov? Yes, he's physical and big, but the few times saw him play this year he always seems to be good for at least 1 boneheaded cheap shot resulting in a PP for the other team. And he seems to take himself out of position too often as well. What is this guy missing that you're seeing?
-
Couldn't recall ottomh if it was the 3rd Eichel season that he played close 80 games; was pretty sure it wasn't that year but not positive w/out looking it up so just left it at 65 points. And, yeah, it wasn't a 120 point pace, it was only a 105 point pace through 60 in '19-'20. Oops. ðš. Still way better than anything we've seen since Briere.
-
Which is where having someone other than Okposo as captain sooner rather than later may be a good thing. Haven't been in the room, but Okposo seems way more Pominville than Drury. And the team really needed a Pomms rather than a Drury this last year. Drury would've made the room miserable. Hoping we're ready for them having a Drury soon. Why not now if he's here? (Not positive he's here.)
-
Not telling you anything you didn't already know, but getting 65 points at 20 is usually viewed as having more room to grow than getting 68 at 24. Still room to grow, especially when circumstances have changed so significantly as they have for Thompson this year; but would be shocked if his ceiling is ~60 games of 120 point pace (which has been roughly Eichel's peak production to date).

Probably semantics, but if in general teams get 2 players on average every draft and a bit less than 1 "good" one each draft, having 6 drafts worth of the top 1/2 of a draft would guess they SHOULD get 4 top 6 / top pairing guys (or at least guys that are comfortably middle 6/ 4/5's that aren't too out of place bumping up in a pinch) with 4-6 more bottom 6/3rd pairing guys and then 2-4 guys that are essentially washouts but who will get their cup of coffee. Expect there'll only be 2-4 of those tweeners. Which IMHO are guys that are top line guys in the A & have to claw &/or get lucky to be in the show.
