Don't know about that. He was a very good C but was behind HoFers LaFontaine & Hawerchuck. He and a 1st also turned into Dominik Hasek. (Don't care what the "official trade" stats state. The Sabres gave up Ruutuu and the pick that turned into Daze. Beauregard was neverr really a Sabre and went back to Winnipeg as soon as the expansion draft was done.)

And probably would've picked somebody else as least likely to be a star without having watched Savoie's 2 game stint as an Amerk. There's a definite recency bias working there but wasn't sure how to properly discount it, so stuck with it.

Can anybody please explain what the Hawks get out of that trade that is beneficial? Or were they SO far below the Cap Floor that they needed 2 guys well past their sell by dates? Nevermind. They're still about $13MM below the floor with 17 contracts in hand.

Didn't really like the poll questions, because 1. like @Randall Flagg said, there's a pretty wide distribution of where these guys will land when they're finally done developing and 2. don't know enough about the Russians (nor Östlund) to have any more than a guess about them. So that 3rd question was really just looking at 3 of the players.

Not really. Even in the 70's teams occassionally played 4F's on the PP. (Nothing like today where there are maybe 3 teams with a base 2D top PP unit.) Nobody is claiming Pominville was, nor that Cozens or Mittelstadt is, a D-man.

Jocelyn was the 1st guess he had (French Canadian D-man with a name that sounds like a chick's). Pretty sure Robert never played D.

Probably Amerks 4th D-man last year (behind Pilut, Prow, and Cecconi). Probably Amerks 4th D-man this year (behind Prow, Johnson, & Cecconi).
